וְאִשָׁה כִּי תִהְיֶה זָבָה, דָּם יִהְיֶה זֹבָהּ בִּבְשָׂרָהּ, שִׁבְעֲת יָמִים תִּהְיֶה בְנִדָּתָהּ (ויקרא טו:יט) וְלָמְדוּ חֲכָמִים מִמִּדְרַשׁ הַפְּסוּקִים, שֶׁלֹּא בְכָל מָקוֹם שֶׁתָּזוּב מִמֶּנָה דָם טְמֵאָה, אֶלָּא דַוְקָא דָם הַבָּא מִן הַמָּקוֹר. (טור; יורה דעה, קפג)

**Urim, 2011:**
“A woman who has a flow of blood in her body shall be a *niddah* for seven days” (Leviticus 15:19). The Sages derived through exegesis of this verse that she does not become impure from blood that flows from any part of her body, but specifically from blood that comes from the uterus (the *makor*, lit. “source”).
