## Amos Chapter 6

###### Amos 6:1

ה֚וֹי הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּ֣ים בְּצִיּ֔וֹן וְהַבֹּטְחִ֖ים בְּהַ֣ר שֹׁמְר֑וֹן נְקֻבֵי֙ רֵאשִׁ֣ית הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וּבָ֥אוּ לָהֶ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Woe to them that are at ease in Żiyyon, and trust in the mountain of Shomeron, who are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Yisra᾽el come!


###### Amos 6:2

עִבְר֤וּ כַֽלְנֵה֙ וּרְא֔וּ וּלְכ֥וּ מִשָּׁ֖ם חֲמַ֣ת רַבָּ֑ה וּרְד֣וּ גַת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים הֲטוֹבִים֙ מִן־הַמַּמְלָכ֣וֹת הָאֵ֔לֶּה אִם־רַ֥ב גְּבוּלָ֖ם מִגְּבֻלְכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Pass to Kalne, and see; and from there go to Ḥamat the great: then go down to Gat of the Pelishtim: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?


###### Amos 6:3

הַֽמְנַדִּ֖ים לְי֣וֹם רָ֑ע וַתַּגִּשׁ֖וּן שֶׁ֥בֶת חָמָֽס׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
You that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;


###### Amos 6:4

הַשֹּֽׁכְבִים֙ עַל־מִטּ֣וֹת שֵׁ֔ן וּסְרֻחִ֖ים עַל־עַרְשׂוֹתָ֑ם וְאֹכְלִ֤ים כָּרִים֙ מִצֹּ֔אן וַעֲגָלִ֖ים מִתּ֥וֹךְ מַרְבֵּֽק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;


###### Amos 6:5

הַפֹּרְטִ֖ים עַל־פִּ֣י הַנָּ֑בֶל כְּדָוִ֕יד חָשְׁב֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם כְּלֵי־שִֽׁיר׃

that pluck the strings of the lute, and devise for themselves instruments of music, like David;


###### Amos 6:6

הַשֹּׁתִ֤ים בְּמִזְרְקֵי֙ יַ֔יִן וְרֵאשִׁ֥ית שְׁמָנִ֖ים יִמְשָׁ֑חוּ וְלֹ֥א נֶחְל֖וּ עַל־שֵׁ֥בֶר יוֹסֵֽף׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the ruin of Yosef.


###### Amos 6:7

לָכֵ֛ן עַתָּ֥ה יִגְל֖וּ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ גֹּלִ֑ים וְסָ֖ר מִרְזַ֥ח סְרוּחִֽים׃

Therefore now they shall go into exile at the head of the exiles; and the revelry of those who stretched themselves out shall pass away.


###### Amos 6:8

נִשְׁבַּע֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יֱהֹוִ֜ה בְּנַפְשׁ֗וֹ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י צְבָא֔וֹת מְתָאֵ֤ב אָנֹכִי֙ אֶת־גְּא֣וֹן יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְאַרְמְנֹתָ֖יו שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וְהִסְגַּרְתִּ֖י עִ֥יר וּמְלֹאָֽהּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord God has sworn by himself, The Lord, the God of hosts says, I abhor the pride of Ya῾aqov, and I hate his palaces: therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.


###### Amos 6:9

וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־יִוָּ֨תְר֜וּ עֲשָׂרָ֧ה אֲנָשִׁ֛ים בְּבַ֥יִת אֶחָ֖ד וָמֵֽתוּ׃

And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.


###### Amos 6:10

וּנְשָׂא֞וֹ דּוֹד֣וֹ וּמְסָֽרְפ֗וֹ לְהוֹצִ֣יא עֲצָמִים֮ מִן־הַבַּיִת֒ וְאָמַ֞ר לַאֲשֶׁ֨ר בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י הַבַּ֛יִת הַע֥וֹד עִמָּ֖ךְ וְאָמַ֣ר אָ֑פֶס וְאָמַ֣ר הָ֔ס כִּ֛י לֹ֥א לְהַזְכִּ֖יר בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָֽה׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And if a man’s uncle, he that burns him, shall take him up, to bring the bones out of the house, and shall say to him that is in the recesses of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No; then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we must not make mention of the name of the Lord.


###### Amos 6:11

כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ מְצַוֶּ֔ה וְהִכָּ֛ה הַבַּ֥יִת הַגָּד֖וֹל רְסִיסִ֑ים וְהַבַּ֥יִת הַקָּטֹ֖ן בְּקִעִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For, behold, the Lord commands, and he will smite the great house into splinters, and the little house into chips.


###### Amos 6:12

הַיְרֻצ֤וּן בַּסֶּ֙לַע֙ סוּסִ֔ים אִֽם־יַחֲר֖וֹשׁ בַּבְּקָרִ֑ים כִּֽי־הֲפַכְתֶּ֤ם לְרֹאשׁ֙ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט וּפְרִ֥י צְדָקָ֖ה לְלַעֲנָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Do horses run upon the rock? does one plough there with oxen? for you have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood:


###### Amos 6:13

הַשְּׂמֵחִ֖ים לְלֹ֣א דָבָ֑ר הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים הֲל֣וֹא בְחׇזְקֵ֔נוּ לָקַ֥חְנוּ לָ֖נוּ קַרְנָֽיִם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
you who rejoice in a thing of nought, who say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?


###### Amos 6:14

כִּ֡י הִנְנִי֩ מֵקִ֨ים עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י הַצְּבָא֖וֹת גּ֑וֹי וְלָחֲצ֥וּ אֶתְכֶ֛ם מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־נַ֥חַל הָעֲרָבָֽה׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Yisra᾽el, says the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Ḥamat to the wadi of the ῾Arava.
