## Amos Chapter 7

###### Amos 7:1

כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה וְהִנֵּה֙ יוֹצֵ֣ר גֹּבַ֔י בִּתְחִלַּ֖ת עֲל֣וֹת הַלָּ֑קֶשׁ וְהִ֨נֵּה־לֶ֔קֶשׁ אַחַ֖ר גִּזֵּ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thus the Lord God showed me; and, behold, he was forming locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.


###### Amos 7:2

וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־כִּלָּה֙ לֶֽאֱכוֹל֙ אֶת־עֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָ֔רֶץ וָֽאֹמַ֗ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ סְֽלַֽח־נָ֔א מִ֥י יָק֖וּם יַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן הֽוּא׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: how shall Ya῾aqov stand? for he is small.


###### Amos 7:3

נִחַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־זֹ֑את לֹ֥א תִֽהְיֶ֖ה אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃

The Lord relented concerning this: It shall not be, said the Lord.


###### Amos 7:4

כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה קֹרֵ֛א לָרִ֥ב בָּאֵ֖שׁ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ אֶת־תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֔ה וְאָכְלָ֖ה אֶת־הַחֵֽלֶק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thus did the Lord God show me: and, behold, the Lord God called to judgment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and was eating up the land.


###### Amos 7:5

וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ חֲדַל־נָ֔א מִ֥י יָק֖וּם יַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן הֽוּא׃

Then I said, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: how shall Ya῾aqov stand? for he is small.


###### Amos 7:6

נִחַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־זֹ֑את גַּם־הִיא֙ לֹ֣א תִֽהְיֶ֔ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה׃{פ}

כֹּ֣ה הִרְאַ֔נִי וְהִנֵּ֧ה אֲדֹנָ֛י נִצָּ֖ב עַל־חוֹמַ֣ת אֲנָ֑ךְ וּבְיָד֖וֹ אֲנָֽךְ׃

Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.


###### Amos 7:8

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י מָֽה־אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ עָמ֔וֹס וָאֹמַ֖ר אֲנָ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲדֹנָ֗י הִנְנִ֨י שָׂ֤ם אֲנָךְ֙ בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹא־אוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד עֲב֥וֹר לֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the Lord said to me, ῾Amos, what dost thou see? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Yisra᾽el: I will not again pardon him any more:


###### Amos 7:9

וְנָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ בָּמ֣וֹת יִשְׂחָ֔ק וּמִקְדְּשֵׁ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל יֶחֱרָ֑בוּ וְקַמְתִּ֛י עַל־בֵּ֥ית יָרׇבְעָ֖ם בֶּחָֽרֶב׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and the high places of Yisĥaq shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Yisra᾽el shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Yorov῾am with the sword.


###### Amos 7:10

וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֲמַצְיָה֙ כֹּהֵ֣ן בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל אֶל־יָרׇבְעָ֥ם מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר קָשַׁ֨ר עָלֶ֜יךָ עָמ֗וֹס בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹא־תוּכַ֣ל הָאָ֔רֶץ לְהָכִ֖יל אֶת־כׇּל־דְּבָרָֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then Amażya the priest of Bet-el sent to Yorov῾am king of Yisra᾽el, saying, ῾Amos has conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Yisra᾽el: the land is not able to bear all his words.


###### Amos 7:11

כִּי־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר עָמ֔וֹס בַּחֶ֖רֶב יָמ֣וּת יָרׇבְעָ֑ם וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For thus ῾Amos says, Yorov῾am shall die by the sword, and Yisra᾽el shall surely be led away into exile out of their own land.


###### Amos 7:12

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲמַצְיָה֙ אֶל־עָמ֔וֹס חֹזֶ֕ה לֵ֥ךְ בְּרַח־לְךָ֖ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וֶאֱכׇל־שָׁ֣ם לֶ֔חֶם וְשָׁ֖ם תִּנָּבֵֽא׃

And Amażya said to ῾Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Yehuda, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:


###### Amos 7:13

וּבֵֽית־אֵ֔ל לֹא־תוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד לְהִנָּבֵ֑א כִּ֤י מִקְדַּשׁ־מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ ה֔וּא וּבֵ֥ית מַמְלָכָ֖ה הֽוּא׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
but do not prophesy again any more at Bet-el: for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house.


###### Amos 7:14

וַיַּ֤עַן עָמוֹס֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֔ה לֹא־נָבִ֣יא אָנֹ֔כִי וְלֹ֥א בֶן־נָבִ֖יא אָנֹ֑כִי כִּי־בוֹקֵ֥ר אָנֹ֖כִי וּבוֹלֵ֥ס שִׁקְמִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then ῾Amos answered and said to Amażya, I am no prophet, neither am I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdman, and a dresser of sycamore trees:


###### Amos 7:15

וַיִּקָּחֵ֣נִי יְהֹוָ֔ה מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י הַצֹּ֑אן וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלַי֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה לֵ֥ךְ הִנָּבֵ֖א אֶל־עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Yisra᾽el.


###### Amos 7:16

וְעַתָּ֖ה שְׁמַ֣ע דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֑ה אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֗ר לֹ֤א תִנָּבֵא֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלֹ֥א תַטִּ֖יף עַל־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂחָֽק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Now therefore hear the word of the Lord: Thou sayst, Do not prophesy against Yisra᾽el, and do not preach against the house of Yisĥaq.


###### Amos 7:17

לָכֵ֞ן כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אִשְׁתְּךָ֞ בָּעִ֤יר תִּזְנֶה֙ וּבָנֶ֤יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֔לוּ וְאַדְמָתְךָ֖ בַּחֶ֣בֶל תְּחֻלָּ֑ק וְאַתָּ֗ה עַל־אֲדָמָ֤ה טְמֵאָה֙ תָּמ֔וּת וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore thus says the Lord; Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in an unclean land: and Yisra᾽el shall surely go into Exile out of his land.
