קבלנו ממרן אלקי הבעל שם טוב שכל זמן שהמלכות **מ** פתוחה אינה בייחוד עם דודה, נמשכין ומתגברין מחשבות זרות ר"ל, וצריכין להעלותן ולקשרן בשרשן, אזי נעשה יחוד קודשא בריך הוא ושכינתיה, בסוד **מם** פתוחה לבעלה במחשבות קדושות, ועיין בזוהר חדש (מדרש הנעלם לשיר השירים) מם פתוחה רזא דנוקבא שלימתא כו':

I received from our Master, the Baal Shem Tov, that as long as *Malchus,*the open letter *mem* – מ – it is not united with its Beloved, extraneous thoughts will be drawn to her and attack her, G‑d forbid. One must uplift it and bind her to its source. Then the unification of the Holy One and the Shechinah is made, in the mystery of the *mem* that is open to her husband, with holy thoughts.
