מ. וקרא אל אלקים שדי צבאות אהיה, בגין דישתמודעון ליה בכל מדה ומדה, איך יתנהג עלמא בחסד וגבורה לפי עובדיהון דבני נשא. וקרא עצמו בשמות, אל אלקים שדי צבאות אהי"ה, בכדי שיכירו אותו ית' בכל מדה ומדה שבו. כי עשרה שמות שבתורה שאינם נמחקים, הם סוד עשר הספירות. כמו שכתוב בזהר (ויקרא אות קסח) ספירת הכתר נקראת אהיה, וספירת החכמה נקראת יה, וספירת הבינה נקראת הוי"ה בניקוד אלקים, ספירת החסד נקראת אל, וספירת הגבורה נקראת אלקים, וספירת ת"ת נקראת הוי"ה, וב' הספירות נצח והוד נקראות צבאות, וספירת היסוד נקראת אל חי, וספירת המלכות נקראת אדנ"י

The *Zohar*continues: **He called Himself by the names *El*, *Elohim*, *Shaddai*, *Tzeva’ot*,** and ***Eheyeh*, so that they would know Him through each and every** one of **His attributes, how He conducts the world with kindness and might, corresponding to the acts of people. For the ten names in the Torah that must not be erased are the mystical meaning of the ten** ***sefirot*****, as written in the *Zohar*:⁵⁹ The** ***sefira*** **of** ***Keter*** **is called *Eheyeh*; the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Ḥokhma*** **is called *Yah*; the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Bina*** **is called *Havaya* with the vowels of** the name***Elohim*****; the *******sefira*** **of** ***Ḥesed*** **is called *El*; the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Gevura*** **is called *Elohim*; the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Tiferet*** **is called *Havaya*; the two** ***sefirot*** *******Netzaḥ*** **and** ***Hod*** **are called *Tzeva’ot*; the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Yesod*** **is called *El Ḥay*; and the** ***sefira*** **of** ***Malkhut*** **is called *Adonai*.**
