One who wears a new robe in which there is hard chametz known in Arabic as *nasha* [نشاء, wheat starch] must launder the robe very well before Pesach begins, soaking it in water to remove the *nasha* in order to be able to wear it on the festival. For if any of this *nasha* remains in it, it is very probable that at some point during the festival, when any amount of chametz is forbidden, the robe will come into contact with one's mouth. For it is very common while going to the toilet to hold the robe between the teeth, and sometimes people wipe their mouth or teeth with their robes. One should also be careful to wash new serviettes that come from the cities of Europe, for they too contain *nasha*, and one should launder the tablecloth if it contains *nasha*. So too, the cloth that is spread on couches near the table, which absorbs moist bread or wet fruit that draws out the aforementioned *nasha*, and then one comes to eat it - all these should be washed well in advance.
