(קמט) אֶחָד מִבְּנֵי הַנְּעוּרִים דִּבֵּר עִמּוֹ זִכְרוֹנוֹ לִבְרָכָה וְאָמַר, אֲנִי רוֹצֶה לִהְיוֹת אִישׁ כָּשֵׁר "אִיךְ וִויל זַיין אֵיין עֶרְלִיכֶער יוּד". וְהֵשִׁיב לוֹ רַבֵּנוּ זִכְרוֹנוֹ לִבְרָכָה "וִוילְסְטוּ אָבֶּער וֶועלְן" [רוֹצֶה אַתָּה לִרְצוֹת]. וְהַמַּשְׂכִּיל יָבִין כִּי דִּבּוּרִים אֵלּוּ הַמּוּעָטִים מַחֲזִיקִים הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד כַּיָּדוּעַ וּמוּבָן לַמְעַיֵּן בְּשִׂיחוֹתָיו הַקְּדוֹשִׁים וְהַנִּפְלָאִים מְאֹד. יְהִי רָצוֹן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְקַיְּמָם אָמֵן:

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
One of the young men spoke Rebbe Nachman of blessed memory, and said "*ich vill zein ein ehrlicher yud!*", I want to be a good Jew. Our Rebbe replied, "*villstu aber vellen?*", do you really want to want such a thing? The wise will understand that these few words contain much in them, as is known to those who have studied his wonderful and holy works. May we merit to attain and fulfil them, amen!
