**והנותן**שלום לרבו כו'. פירש"י ותוס' דהיינו דלא א"ל שלום עליך רבי והיינו דאמרי' כדי שאילת תלמיד לרב כו' עכ"ל וק"ק מההיא דפ' ר"ע (שבת פט.) דאמרי' כלום יש עבד שנותן שלום לרבו כו' ולמה לא אמר בכה"ג כדי שאילת תלמיד לרב שלום עליך אדוני ויש לחלק בין תלמיד לעבד שהוא ודאי אינו נותן שלום כלל לרבו ועי"ל דיש לחלק בין נותן שלום לשאלת שלום והיינו דשאלת שלום כדאמר התם היה לך לעזרני ודו"ק:

**והאומר** דבר שלא שמע מפי רבו כו'. וכה"ג אמרי' בפרק ב' שעירים (סו:) בר"א שלא אמר דבר שלא שמע מרבו אבל מצינו בכמה דוכתין דגם דבר שלא שמעו מרבם אמרו חכמים מסברא ואפשר לומר דדבר שאינו מסברא לא אמרה ר"א בשם רבו כיון שלא שמע מפיו וק"ל:

**היאך** יכול החי להכחיש וכו'. בפ' כל פסולי המוקדשין (בכורות לו.) פירש"י וחוזרני בי וכתבו התוס' שם דהכא א"א לפרש שהרי פסקו הלכה כמותו עכ"ל עוד כתבו שם עמוד על רגליך ויעידו בך ל"ג ליה הכא ע"ש:

**How can the living contradict, etc.:** In the chapter [entitled] Kol Pesulei HaMukdashin (Bekhorot 36a), Rashi explained, "So I (Rabbi Yehoshua) retracted." And the Tosafot wrote there: That here it is impossible to explain [like this]; as behold, they established the law according to him. To here are their [words]. **נוקמיה** לרבי יהושע בעל מעשה כו'. פירש"י וה"ל צערא טפי עכ"ל ועי"ל שלא יאמרו שלא חלק על ר"ג אלא משום כבודו שימנוהו במקומו:

**Shall we establish Rabbi Yehoshua? He was party to the incident, etc.:** Rashi explained: And there would be additional pain to Rabban Gamliel. To here are his [words].
