**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
The entire thing that I command you ["light" as well as "weighty"], shall you take heed to do [A negative commandment is hereby superadded to each of the positive commandments mentioned above (but stripes do not obtain here, there being no stripes for the "take heed" of a positive commandment)]. You shall not add to it and you shall not diminish therefrom [See 4:2]

**Metsudah Chumash, Metsudah Publications, 2009:**

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
thou shalt not hearken to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God puts you to the proof, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
Do not pay heed to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the L-rd your G-d is trying you to know whether you love the L-rd your G-d with all your heart and with all your soul.

###### Deuteronomy 13:6
[Deuteronomy 13:6](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Deuteronomy/r/13:6)

וְהַנָּבִ֣יא הַה֡וּא א֣וֹ חֹלֵם֩ הַחֲל֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יוּמָ֗ת כִּ֣י דִבֶּר־סָ֠רָ֠ה עַל־יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֜ם הַמּוֹצִ֥יא אֶתְכֶ֣ם**׀** מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֗יִם וְהַפֹּֽדְךָ֙ מִבֵּ֣ית עֲבָדִ֔ים לְהַדִּֽיחֲךָ֙ מִן־הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֧ר צִוְּךָ֛ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לָלֶ֣כֶת בָּ֑הּ וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ הָרָ֖ע מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃{ס}

**Metsudah Chumash, Metsudah Publications, 2009:**
And that prophet or that dreamer of a dream is to be executed, for he has uttered a fabrication about Adonoy, your God—Who took you out of the land of Egypt, and Who redeemed you from the house of bondage—to mislead you from the way that Adonoy, your God, commanded you to go upon, and you will eliminate the evil from within you.

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he has spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Miżrayim and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death. For of what is "removed" [from the world, it never having been created, and His never having been commanded by Me to speak thus] has he spoken of the L-rd your G-d — who took you out of the land of Egypt, and who redeemed you from the house of bondage. [Had He done only that, it should have been sufficient!] — to turn you from the way on which the L-rd your G-d commanded you to go. And you shall remove the evil from your midst.

**Metsudah Chumash, Metsudah Publications, 2009:**
If one shall incite you, your brother—son of your mother—or your son or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your neighbor who is your soul mate, clandestinely, saying, ‘‘Let us go and serve other gods ’’ whom you never knew—neither you nor your forefathers.

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, who is as thy own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
If there incite you your brother [from your father] or the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your soul [i.e., your father (Scripture adduces those who are most beloved by you, how much more so others (who incite you thus!)], in secret [(this being the common mode for such incitement)], saying: Let us go and serve other gods, which you did not know, neither you nor your fathers [(Even the heathens do not forsake what their fathers have bequeathed them — and this one bids you to do so!)]

**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
Of the gods of the peoples around you, who are near to you or who are far from you [(Just as there is (manifestly) nothing to those near you, so there is nothing to those distant from you)], from one end of the earth [the sun, the moon, and the hosts of heaven (which go from one end of the world)] until the other —

but thou shalt surely kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

**The Rashi chumash by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
