###### Esther 5:1

וַיְהִ֣י**׀** בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗י וַתִּלְבַּ֤שׁ אֶסְתֵּר֙ מַלְכ֔וּת וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֞ד בַּחֲצַ֤ר בֵּית־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַפְּנִימִ֔ית נֹ֖כַח בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְ֠הַמֶּ֠לֶךְ יוֹשֵׁ֞ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֤א מַלְכוּתוֹ֙ בְּבֵ֣ית הַמַּלְכ֔וּת נֹ֖כַח פֶּ֥תַח הַבָּֽיִת׃

It was on the third day. Esther cloaked herself in majesty, and stood in the innermost palace courtyard, facing the palace. The king sat on his imperial throne, in the royal chamber, facing the entrance to the palace.

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Ester put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, opposite the gate of the house.

And it was on the third day, that Esther clothed herself in royal [vestments], and she stood in the inner court of the palace, opposite the king's chamber. And the king was sitting on the royal throne in the king's chamber opposite the chamber door.

וַיְהִי֩ כִרְא֨וֹת הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־אֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַמַּלְכָּ֗ה עֹמֶ֙דֶת֙ בֶּֽחָצֵ֔ר נָשְׂאָ֥ה חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינָ֑יו וַיּ֨וֹשֶׁט הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לְאֶסְתֵּ֗ר אֶת־שַׁרְבִ֤יט הַזָּהָב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָד֔וֹ וַתִּקְרַ֣ב אֶסְתֵּ֔ר וַתִּגַּ֖ע בְּרֹ֥אשׁ הַשַּׁרְבִֽיט׃{ס}

Now, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the courtyard, she gained his favorable regard, and the king extended, towards Esther, the golden sceptre in his hand. Esther came closer, and touched the point of the sceptre.

And so it was, that when the king saw Ester the queen standing in the court, she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Ester the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Ester drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

And it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his eyes, and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre which was in his hand, and Esther drew near, and she touched the head of the sceptre.

And so it was, that when the king saw 👸🏽 the queen standing in the court, she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to 👸🏽 the golden sceptre that was in his ✋. So 👸🏽 drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה־לָּ֖ךְ אֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה וּמַה־בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛ךְ עַד־חֲצִ֥י הַמַּלְכ֖וּת וְיִנָּ֥תֵֽן לָֽךְ׃

The king said to her: “What do you need, Queen Esther, what do you wish? Up until half the empire, and it shall be granted to you!”

Then the king said to her, What is thy wish, queen Ester? and what is thy request? it shall be given thee even to half the kingdom.

And the king said to her: What troubles you, Queen Esther, and what is your request? Until half the kingdom, and it shall be given you.

Esther said, “If his majesty deems it proper, let his majesty and Haman attend, today, a feast which I have prepared for him.”

And Ester answered, If it seem good to the king, let the king and Haman come this day to the banquet that I have prepared for him.

And Esther said: If it finds favor with the king, let the king and Haman come today to the feast that I have made for him.

The king said, “Urge Haman to quickly fulfill Esther’s instructions.” So the king and Haman arrived at the feast which Esther had prepared.

Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Ester has said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Ester had prepared.

And the king said: Hasten Haman to do as Esther bids. And the king and Haman came to the feast which Esther had made.

The king said to Esther at the winefest, “Whatever you request shall be granted to you! Whatever you wish, up until half the empire, shall be fulfilled!”

And the king said to Ester during the wine drinking, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to half the kingdom it shall be performed.

And the king said to Esther in the feast of the wine [(the wine being the "feature" of the feast)]: What is your petition, and it shall be granted you. And what is your request? Until half the kingdom, and it shall be done.

אִם־מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֜ן בְּעֵינֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וְאִם־עַל־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ ט֔וֹב לָתֵת֙ אֶת־שְׁאֵ֣לָתִ֔י וְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹת אֶת־בַּקָּשָׁתִ֑י יָב֧וֹא הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ וְהָמָ֗ן אֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֣ה לָהֶ֔ם וּמָחָ֥ר אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה כִּדְבַ֥ר הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

If I have gained His Majesty’s favorable regard, and if His Majesty deems it proper fo fulfill my request and gratify my wish; let His Majesty and Haman attend the feast which I shall tender for them—and tomorrow I shall comply with His Majesty’s command.”

if I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.

Haman ventured forth, that day, joyful and content; but when Haman perceived Mordechai at the gateway to the king, neglecting to rise or bestir himself for him, Haman was totally incensed at Mordechai.

Then Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordokhay in the king’s gate, that he did not stand or stir for him, he was full of indignation against Mordokhay.

And Haman went out that day, happy and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, neither rising nor stirring before him, Haman was filled with wrath against Mordecai.

Then 👺 went out that day joyful and with a glad ❤️: but when 👺 saw 👳🏽‍♂️ in the king’s ⛩️, that he did not stand or stir for him, he was full of 😡 against 👳🏽‍♂️.

וַיִּתְאַפַּ֣ק הָמָ֔ן וַיָּב֖וֹא אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֛ח וַיָּבֵ֥א אֶת־אֹהֲבָ֖יו וְאֶת־זֶ֥רֶשׁ אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

Haman restrained himself, arrived at his home, and gathered his friends and his wife Zeresh.

Nevertheless Haman restrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

But Haman suppressed [his anger (fearing to take revenge without royal authority)], and when he came home, he sent and had brought to him his loved ones and Zeresh his wife.

Haman boasted, to them, of the glories of his affluence and of his profusion of sons; of all the eminence the king had given him, and that he had exalted him above the ministers and the royal servants.

And Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

“And,” Haman declared, “Even now, Queen Esther let no man come with the king to the feast that she had prepared, but myself; moreover, tomorrow also I have been invited by her to join the king.

Still, all this is meaningless to me whenever I see Mordechai the Yehudi sitting at the gateway to the king.”

His wife Zeresh told him—and so too all his friends—“Let them build a gallows fifty *amohs* high. In the morning, suggest to the king that they hang Mordechai from it and join the king at the feast joyfully.” The scheme pleased Haman, and he built the gallows.

Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak to the king that Mordokhay may be hanged on it: then go in cheerfully with the king to the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

And Zeresh his wife and all his loved ones said to him: Let them make a gallows fifty cubits high, and in the morning tell the king, and let them hang Mordecai on it; and come with the king to the feast in gladness. And the thing found favor with Haman, and he made the gallows.
