###### Exodus 15:1

אָ֣ז יָשִֽׁיר־מֹשֶׁה֩ וּבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֵאמֹ֑ראָשִׁ֤ירָה לַֽיהֹוָה֙ כִּֽי־גָאֹ֣ה גָּאָ֔הס֥וּס וְרֹכְב֖וֹ רָמָ֥ה בַיָּֽם׃

Then Moshe and the B’nei Yisrael sang this song to Adonoy and they said, I will sing to Adonoy for He is most high, horse and its rider He threw into the sea.

Then sang Moshe and the children of Yisra᾽el this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying, I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider has he thrown into the sea.

עׇזִּ֤י וְזִמְרָת֙ יָ֔הּ וַֽיְהִי־לִ֖י לִֽישׁוּעָ֑הזֶ֤ה אֵלִי֙ וְאַנְוֵ֔הוּאֱלֹהֵ֥י אָבִ֖י וַאֲרֹמְמֶֽנְהוּ׃

The strength and retribution of God was the cause of my deliverance. This is my Almighty and I will glorify Him; the God of my father and I will exalt Him.

The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will praise him; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Pharaoh’s chariots and army He hurled into the sea; his elite officers were sunk in the Reed Sea.

In Your great majesty, You destroy Your opponents; You send forth Your fury, it consumes them like straw.

וּבְר֤וּחַ אַפֶּ֙יךָ֙ נֶ֣עֶרְמוּ מַ֔יִםנִצְּב֥וּ כְמוֹ־נֵ֖ד נֹזְלִ֑יםקָֽפְא֥וּ תְהֹמֹ֖ת בְּלֶב־יָֽם׃

Through the wind [breath] of Your nostrils, the waters were heaped up, flowing water stood like a wall; the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were piled up, the floods stood upright like a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

The enemy said, “I will pursue [them], I will overtake [them], I will divide the spoils, I will satisfy myself; I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.”

The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

The foe (i.e., Pharaoh) said [to his people in urging them to pursue Israel:] I shall pursue, I shall overtake, I shall divide (the) spoil [with my officers and servants]. My spirit [i.e., my desire] will be filled with them. I shall draw forth my sword; my hand will impoverish them.

Then the chiefs of Edom panicked, the mighty men of Moav were seized with trembling; all the inhabitants of Canaan melted away.

###### Exodus 15:16

You will bring them and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance, the place for Your habitation, which You, Adonoy have made; the Sanctuary—my Master—[which] Your hands established.

Miriam the prophetess, sister of Aharon, took the drum in her hand; and all the women followed her with drums and dancing.

Moshe led [B’nei] Yisrael away from the Reed Sea, and they went out into the desert of Shur, they traveled for three days in the desert and they did not find any water.

So Moshe brought Yisra᾽el from the Sea of Suf, and they went out to the wilderness of Shur; and they marched three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

And Moses made Israel journey from the Red Sea [against their wills (the Egyptians having adorned their horses with gold, silver, and precious stones, which the Israelites lingered to collect, "the spoils of the sea" exceeding the spoils of Egypt)], and Israel went out to the desert of Shur, and they traveled three days in the desert without finding any water.

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ מָרָ֔תָה וְלֹ֣א יָֽכְל֗וּ לִשְׁתֹּ֥ת מַ֙יִם֙ מִמָּרָ֔ה כִּ֥י מָרִ֖ים הֵ֑ם עַל־כֵּ֥ן קָרָֽא־שְׁמָ֖הּ מָרָֽה׃

They came to Marah but they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter. The place was therefore called Marah [bitter].

And when they came to Mara, they could not drink of the waters of Mara, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Mara.

And He said: If you pay heed to the voice of the L-rd your G-d, [taking upon yourselves to perform the mitzvoth], and you do what is just in His eyes, [performing them], and you give ear to His mitzvoth, [being attentive to their details], and you keep all of His statutes, [decrees having no ostensible reason, and, therefore, "vulnerable to attack" by the evil inclination (e.g., the prohibitions against wearing kilaim and eating swine, the institution of the red heifer, and the like)] — then [if you observe My mitzvoth], all of the illness which I placed upon Egypt I will not place upon you, for I am the L-rd who heals you [by "prescribing" (Torah and mitzvoth) against this illness].
