## Exodus Chapter 39

###### Exodus 39:1

וּמִן־הַתְּכֵ֤לֶת וְהָֽאַרְגָּמָן֙ וְתוֹלַ֣עַת הַשָּׁנִ֔י עָשׂ֥וּ בִגְדֵי־שְׂרָ֖ד לְשָׁרֵ֣ת בַּקֹּ֑דֶשׁ וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֞וּ אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֤י הַקֹּ֙דֶשׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאַהֲרֹ֔ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃{פ}

From the greenish-blue wool, dark red wool, and crimson wool, they made garments of distinction for service in the Sanctuary, and they made sacred garments for Aharon, just as Adonoy commanded Moshe.

And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made uniforms, with which to do service in the holy place, and they made the holy garments for Aharon; as the Lord commanded Moshe.

And from the purple wool and the blue wool they made mesh vestments for covering the holy (appurtenances) [see 35:19] and they made the consecrated garments of Aaron, as the L-rd had commanded Moses.

He made the eiphod out of gold, greenish-blue wool, dark red wool, crimson wool, and twisted, fine linen.

###### Exodus 39:3

וַֽיְרַקְּע֞וּ אֶת־פַּחֵ֣י הַזָּהָב֮ וְקִצֵּ֣ץ פְּתִילִם֒ לַעֲשׂ֗וֹת בְּת֤וֹךְ הַתְּכֵ֙לֶת֙ וּבְת֣וֹךְ הָֽאַרְגָּמָ֔ן וּבְת֛וֹךְ תּוֹלַ֥עַת הַשָּׁנִ֖י וּבְת֣וֹךְ הַשֵּׁ֑שׁ מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה חֹשֵֽׁב׃

They beat the plates of gold and cut (them) into threads to work them into the greenish-blue wool, into the dark red wool, into the crimson wool, and into the fine linen, the work of a craftsman.

And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, the work of an artist.

And they beat the plates of gold and cut [from the thin plate] strands to work into the blue wool [(i.e., one thread of gold intertwined with six of blue wool, etc.)]. And into the purple wool, and into the scarlet wool, and into the linen, the work of an artist.


###### Exodus 39:4

כְּתֵפֹ֥ת עָֽשׂוּ־ל֖וֹ חֹבְרֹ֑ת עַל־שְׁנֵ֥י (קצוותו) [קְצוֹתָ֖יו] חֻבָּֽר׃

The eiphod’s belt which was on it, was woven with it in the same manner (as the eiphod) (with) gold, greenish-blue wool, dark red wool, crimson wool, and twined, fine linen. just as Adonoy commanded.

###### Exodus 39:6

וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ אֶת־אַבְנֵ֣י הַשֹּׁ֔הַם מֻֽסַבֹּ֖ת מִשְׁבְּצֹ֣ת זָהָ֑ב מְפֻתָּחֹת֙ פִּתּוּחֵ֣י חוֹתָ֔ם עַל־שְׁמ֖וֹת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

They placed the shoham stones in gold settings, They (the stones) were engraved like the engraving of a signet (ring), with the names of the B’nei Yisrael.

And they arranged the shoham stones enclosed in fixtures of gold, graven, as signets are graven, with the names of the children of Yisra᾽el.

And they made the shoham stones surrounded by golden settings, engraved as the engraving of a signet with the names of the children of Israel.


###### Exodus 39:7

###### Exodus 39:9

They made the breastplate a doubled square, a span in its length and a span in its width.

###### Exodus 39:10

וַיְמַ֨לְאוּ־ב֔וֹ אַרְבָּעָ֖ה ט֣וּרֵי אָ֑בֶן ט֗וּר אֹ֤דֶם פִּטְדָה֙ וּבָרֶ֔קֶת הַטּ֖וּר הָאֶחָֽד׃

They filled them (the breastplate settings) with four rows of stones: The first row: An odem (ruby), pitda (topaz), and barekes (emerald), (was placed on) the first row.

###### Exodus 39:14

וְ֠הָאֲבָנִ֠ים עַל־שְׁמֹ֨ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל הֵ֛נָּה שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה עַל־שְׁמֹתָ֑ם פִּתּוּחֵ֤י חֹתָם֙ אִ֣ישׁ עַל־שְׁמ֔וֹ לִשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר שָֽׁבֶט׃

These stones had the names of the B’nei Yisrael, twelve of them by their names, each one’s name engraved as on a signet (ring), representing the twelve tribes.

###### Exodus 39:15

They put (attached) the two gold-braided chains on the two rings, at the corners of the breastplate.

The two ends of the two braided chains they put (attached) to the two settings, and placed them on the shoulder straps of the eiphod toward the front.

They made two gold rings and set them on the two (lower) corners of the breastplate, on its edge that was on the inner side of the eiphod.

They made two gold rings and placed them on the two shoulder straps of the eiphod, on the bottom, toward the front, against where they were joined, above the eiphod’s belt.

And they made two other golden rings, and put them on the two sides of the efod underneath, toward the forepart of it, over against its coupling, above the finely wrought girdle of the efod.

And they made two golden rings, and they placed them on the (origin of the) two shoulder straps of the ephod below, on its face, opposite [i.e., near] where it is attached, above the cheishev of the ephod.


###### Exodus 39:21

וַיִּרְכְּס֣וּ אֶת־הַחֹ֡שֶׁן מִטַּבְּעֹתָיו֩ אֶל־טַבְּעֹ֨ת הָאֵפֹ֜ד בִּפְתִ֣יל תְּכֵ֗לֶת לִֽהְיֹת֙ עַל־חֵ֣שֶׁב הָאֵפֹ֔ד וְלֹֽא־יִזַּ֣ח הַחֹ֔שֶׁן מֵעַ֖ל הָאֵפֹ֑ד כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃{פ}

They bound the (lower) rings of the breastplate to the (lower) rings of the eiphod with a cord of greenish-blue wool, so that it (the breastplate) remained against the eiphod’s belt, so that the breastplate did not move from the eiphod, just as Adonoy commanded Moshe.

And they did bind the breastplate by its rings to the rings of the efod with a lace of blue, that it might be above the finely wrought girdle of the efod, and that the breastplate might not be loosed from the efod; as the Lord commanded Moshe.

And they bound the choshen from its rings to the rings of the ephod with a string of blue wool to be on the cheishev of the ephod. And the choshen shall not be detached from the ephod, as the L-rd commanded Moses.

He made the robe of the eiphod of woven work, completely out of greenish-blue wool.

###### Exodus 39:23

וּפִֽי־הַמְּעִ֥יל בְּתוֹכ֖וֹ כְּפִ֣י תַחְרָ֑א שָׂפָ֥ה לְפִ֛יו סָבִ֖יב לֹ֥א יִקָּרֵֽעַ׃

The opening of the robe was turned inward like the opening around a coat of armor, with a border all around the opening so that it did not tear.

And there was a hole in the midst of the robe, like the hole of a suit of armour, with a band round about the hole, that it should not tear.

And the head-opening of the me'il was (folded over) within it, as the opening of a suit of armor. Its opening had a border roundabout, so that it not be torn.


###### Exodus 39:24

וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ עַל־שׁוּלֵ֣י הַמְּעִ֔יל רִמּוֹנֵ֕י תְּכֵ֥לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֖ן וְתוֹלַ֣עַת שָׁנִ֑י מׇשְׁזָֽר׃

They made on the robe’s (lower) hem, pomegranates of greenish-blue wool, dark red wool, crimson wool, (that were) twined together.

And they made upon the hems of the robe pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined linen.

And they made on the (lower) hem of the me'il pomegranates of blue wool, and purple wool, and scarlet wool, twisted.


###### Exodus 39:25

וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ פַעֲמֹנֵ֖י זָהָ֣ב טָה֑וֹר וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ אֶת־הַפַּֽעֲמֹנִ֜ים בְּת֣וֹךְ הָרִמֹּנִ֗ים עַל־שׁוּלֵ֤י הַמְּעִיל֙ סָבִ֔יב בְּת֖וֹךְ הָרִמֹּנִֽים׃

They made pure gold bells, and put the bells between the pomegranates, on the (lower) hem of the robe all around, between the pomegranates.
