## Hosea Chapter 10

###### Hosea 10:1

גֶּ֤פֶן בּוֹקֵק֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל פְּרִ֖י יְשַׁוֶּה־לּ֑וֹ כְּרֹ֣ב לְפִרְי֗וֹ הִרְבָּה֙ לַֽמִּזְבְּח֔וֹת כְּט֣וֹב לְאַרְצ֔וֹ הֵיטִ֖יבוּ מַצֵּבֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Yisra᾽el is an emptied vine; how should he bring forth fruit to himself? as his fruit increased, so has he multiplied his altars; the more goodly was his land, so did he improve his pillars.


###### Hosea 10:2

חָלַ֥ק לִבָּ֖ם עַתָּ֣ה יֶאְשָׁ֑מוּ ה֚וּא יַעֲרֹ֣ף מִזְבְּחוֹתָ֔ם יְשֹׁדֵ֖ד מַצֵּבוֹתָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their heart is divided; now they shall be found guilty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their pillars.


###### Hosea 10:3

כִּ֤י עַתָּה֙ יֹֽאמְר֔וּ אֵ֥ין מֶ֖לֶךְ לָ֑נוּ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָרֵ֙אנוּ֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂה־לָּֽנוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For now they shall say, We have no king, because we did not fear the Lord; what then should a king do for us?


###### Hosea 10:4

דִּבְּר֣וּ דְבָרִ֔ים אָל֥וֹת שָׁ֖וְא כָּרֹ֣ת בְּרִ֑ית וּפָרַ֤ח כָּרֹאשׁ֙ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט עַ֖ל תַּלְמֵ֥י שָׂדָֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They have spoken mere words; with empty oaths they make a covenant: this judgment springs up like hemlock in the furrows of the field.


###### Hosea 10:5

לְעֶגְלוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית אָ֔וֶן יָג֖וּרוּ שְׁכַ֣ן שֹׁמְר֑וֹן כִּֽי־אָבַ֨ל עָלָ֜יו עַמּ֗וֹ וּכְמָרָיו֙ עָלָ֣יו יָגִ֔ילוּ עַל־כְּבוֹד֖וֹ כִּי־גָלָ֥ה מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The inhabitants of Shomeron shall fear because of the calves of Bet-aven: for its people shall mourn over it, and its priests that rejoiced on it, for its glory, because it is departed from it.


###### Hosea 10:6

גַּם־אוֹתוֹ֙ לְאַשּׁ֣וּר יוּבָ֔ל מִנְחָ֖ה לְמֶ֣לֶךְ יָרֵ֑ב בׇּשְׁנָה֙ אֶפְרַ֣יִם יִקָּ֔ח וְיֵב֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵעֲצָתֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
It shall be also carried to Ashshur for a present to king Yarev: Efrayim shall receive shame, and Yisra᾽el shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

נִדְמֶ֥ה שֹׁמְר֖וֹן מַלְכָּ֑הּ כְּקֶ֖צֶף עַל־פְּנֵי־מָֽיִם׃

As for Shomeron, her king is cut off like the foam on the surface of water.


###### Hosea 10:8

וְנִשְׁמְד֞וּ בָּמ֣וֹת אָ֗וֶן חַטַּאת֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל ק֣וֹץ וְדַרְדַּ֔ר יַעֲלֶ֖ה עַל־מִזְבְּחוֹתָ֑ם וְאָמְר֤וּ לֶהָרִים֙ כַּסּ֔וּנוּ וְלַגְּבָע֖וֹת נִפְל֥וּ עָלֵֽינוּ׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The high places also of Aven, the sin of Yisra᾽el, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.


###### Hosea 10:9

מִימֵי֙ הַגִּבְעָ֔ה חָטָ֖אתָ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל שָׁ֣ם עָמָ֔דוּ לֹא־תַשִּׂיגֵ֧ם בַּגִּבְעָ֛ה מִלְחָמָ֖ה עַל־בְּנֵ֥י עַֽלְוָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
O Yisra᾽el, thou hast sinned more than in the days of Giv῾a: there they have remained: shall not war overtake them, those children of iniquity, as in Giv῾a?


###### Hosea 10:10

בְּאַוָּתִ֖י וְאֶסֳּרֵ֑ם וְאֻסְּפ֤וּ עֲלֵיהֶם֙ עַמִּ֔ים בְּאׇסְרָ֖ם לִשְׁתֵּ֥י (עינתם) [עוֹנֹתָֽם]׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
When I so desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are harnessed for labour in their two furrows.


###### Hosea 10:11

וְאֶפְרַ֜יִם עֶגְלָ֤ה מְלֻמָּדָה֙ אֹהַ֣בְתִּי לָד֔וּשׁ וַאֲנִ֣י עָבַ֔רְתִּי עַל־ט֖וּב צַוָּארָ֑הּ אַרְכִּ֤יב אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ יַחֲר֣וֹשׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה יְשַׂדֶּד־ל֖וֹ יַעֲקֹֽב׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And Efrayim is like a heifer well taught, that loves to tread out the corn; but I passed over her fair neck: I will make Efrayim to ride; Yehuda shall plough, and Ya῾aqov shall break his clods.


###### Hosea 10:12

זִרְע֨וּ לָכֶ֤ם לִצְדָקָה֙ קִצְר֣וּ לְפִי־חֶ֔סֶד נִ֥ירוּ לָכֶ֖ם נִ֑יר וְעֵת֙ לִדְר֣וֹשׁ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה עַד־יָב֕וֹא וְיֹרֶ֥ה צֶ֖דֶק לָכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Sow for yourselves by righteousness, reap by the scale of love; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he comes and rains righteousness upon you.


###### Hosea 10:13

חֲרַשְׁתֶּם־רֶ֛שַׁע עַוְלָ֥תָה קְצַרְתֶּ֖ם אֲכַלְתֶּ֣ם פְּרִי־כָ֑חַשׁ כִּי־בָטַ֥חְתָּ בְדַרְכְּךָ֖ בְּרֹ֥ב גִּבּוֹרֶֽיךָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
You have ploughed wickedness, you have reaped iniquity; you have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.


###### Hosea 10:14

וְקָ֣אם שָׁאוֹן֮ בְּעַמֶּ֒ךָ֒ וְכׇל־מִבְצָרֶ֣יךָ יוּשַּׁ֔ד כְּשֹׁ֧ד שַֽׁלְמַ֛ן בֵּ֥ית אַֽרְבֵ֖אל בְּי֣וֹם מִלְחָמָ֑ה אֵ֥ם עַל־בָּנִ֖ים רֻטָּֽשָׁה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy peoples, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Bet-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.


###### Hosea 10:15

כָּ֗כָה עָשָׂ֤ה לָכֶם֙ בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל מִפְּנֵ֖י רָעַ֣ת רָעַתְכֶ֑ם בַּשַּׁ֕חַר נִדְמֹ֥ה נִדְמָ֖ה מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
So has Bet-el done to you because of your great wickedness: at day break was the king of Yisra᾽el utterly cut off.
