## Hosea Chapter 5

###### Hosea 5:1

שִׁמְעוּ־זֹ֨את הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים וְהַקְשִׁ֣יבוּ**׀** בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וּבֵ֤ית הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַאֲזִ֔ינוּ כִּ֥י לָכֶ֖ם הַמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּי־פַח֙ הֱיִיתֶ֣ם לְמִצְפָּ֔ה וְרֶ֖שֶׁת פְּרוּשָׂ֥ה עַל־תָּבֽוֹר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Hear this, O priests; and hearken, O house of Yisra᾽el; and give ear, O house of the king; for yours is the judgment, because you have been a snare on Miżpa, and a net spread upon Tavor.


###### Hosea 5:2

וְשַׁחֲטָ֥ה שֵׂטִ֖ים הֶעְמִ֑יקוּ וַאֲנִ֖י מוּסָ֥ר לְכֻלָּֽם׃

And the apostates are deep dyed in slaughter, and I am rejected by them all.


###### Hosea 5:3

אֲנִי֙ יָדַ֣עְתִּי אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹא־נִכְחַ֣ד מִמֶּ֑נִּי כִּ֤י עַתָּה֙ הִזְנֵ֣יתָ אֶפְרַ֔יִם נִטְמָ֖א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I know Efrayim and Yisra᾽el is not hid from me: for now, O Efrayim, thou committest harlotry, and Yisra᾽el is defiled.


###### Hosea 5:4

לֹ֤א יִתְּנוּ֙ מַ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם לָשׁ֖וּב אֶל־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם כִּ֣י ר֤וּחַ זְנוּנִים֙ בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם וְאֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה לֹ֥א יָדָֽעוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their doings will not allow them to return to their God: for the spirit of harlotry is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.


###### Hosea 5:5

וְעָנָ֥ה גְאֽוֹן־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּפָנָ֑יו וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וְאֶפְרַ֗יִם יִכָּֽשְׁלוּ֙ בַּעֲוֺנָ֔ם כָּשַׁ֥ל גַּם־יְהוּדָ֖ה עִמָּֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the pride of Yisra᾽el does testify to his face: therefore shall Yisra᾽el and Efrayim stumble in their iniquity; Yehuda also shall stumble with them.


###### Hosea 5:6

בְּצֹאנָ֣ם וּבִבְקָרָ֗ם יֵ֥לְכ֛וּ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה וְלֹ֣א יִמְצָ֑אוּ חָלַ֖ץ מֵהֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord; but they shall not find him; he has withdrawn himself from them.


###### Hosea 5:7

בַּיהֹוָ֣ה בָּגָ֔דוּ כִּי־בָנִ֥ים זָרִ֖ים יָלָ֑דוּ עַתָּ֛ה יֹאכְלֵ֥ם חֹ֖דֶשׁ אֶת־חֶלְקֵיהֶֽם׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They have dealt treacherously against the Lord: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.


###### Hosea 5:8

תִּקְע֤וּ שׁוֹפָר֙ בַּגִּבְעָ֔ה חֲצֹצְרָ֖ה בָּרָמָ֑ה הָרִ֙יעוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית אָ֔וֶן אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ בִּנְיָמִֽין׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Blow the shofar in Giv῾a, and the trumpet in Rama: cry loud at Bet-aven, They are after thee, O Binyamin.


###### Hosea 5:9

אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ לְשַׁמָּ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ה בְּי֖וֹם תּוֹכֵחָ֑ה בְּשִׁבְטֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הוֹדַ֖עְתִּי נֶאֱמָנָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Efrayim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Yisra᾽el I have made known that which shall surely be.


###### Hosea 5:10

הָיוּ֙ שָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה כְּמַסִּיגֵ֖י גְּב֑וּל עֲלֵיהֶ֕ם אֶשְׁפּ֥וֹךְ כַּמַּ֖יִם עֶבְרָתִֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The princes of Yehuda are like them that remove the landmark: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.


###### Hosea 5:11

עָשׁ֥וּק אֶפְרַ֖יִם רְצ֣וּץ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּ֣י הוֹאִ֔יל הָלַ֖ךְ אַחֲרֵי־צָֽו׃

Efrayim is oppressed and crushed in judgment, because he willingly walked after vanity.


###### Hosea 5:12

וַאֲנִ֥י כָעָ֖שׁ לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם וְכָרָקָ֖ב לְבֵ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה׃

Therefore will I be to Efrayim as a moth, and to the house of Yehuda as rottenness.


###### Hosea 5:13

וַיַּ֨רְא אֶפְרַ֜יִם אֶת־חׇלְי֗וֹ וִֽיהוּדָה֙ אֶת־מְזֹר֔וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ אֶל־אַשּׁ֔וּר וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יָרֵ֑ב וְה֗וּא לֹ֤א יוּכַל֙ לִרְפֹּ֣א לָכֶ֔ם וְלֹא־יִגְהֶ֥ה מִכֶּ֖ם מָזֽוֹר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
When Efrayim saw his sickness, and Yehuda saw his wound, then Efrayim went to Ashshur, and sent to king Yarev: but he is not able to heal you, nor cure you of your wound.


###### Hosea 5:14

כִּ֣י אָנֹכִ֤י כַשַּׁ֙חַל֙ לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם וְכַכְּפִ֖יר לְבֵ֣ית יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲנִ֨י אֲנִ֤י אֶטְרֹף֙ וְאֵלֵ֔ךְ אֶשָּׂ֖א וְאֵ֥ין מַצִּֽיל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For I will be to Efrayim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Yehuda: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and there shall be none to deliver.


###### Hosea 5:15

אֵלֵ֤ךְ אָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ אֶל־מְקוֹמִ֔י עַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר־יֶאְשְׁמ֖וּ וּבִקְשׁ֣וּ פָנָ֑י בַּצַּ֥ר לָהֶ֖ם יְשַׁחֲרֻֽנְנִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me, saying,
