###### I Chronicles 18:1

וַֽיְהִי֙ אַֽחֲרֵי־כֵ֔ן וַיַּ֥ךְ דָּוִ֛יד אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וַיַּכְנִיעֵ֑ם וַיִּקַּ֛ח אֶת־גַּ֥ת וּבְנֹתֶ֖יהָ מִיַּ֥ד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Pelishtim, and subdued them, and took Gat and its hamlets out of the hand of the Pelishtim.

[viz. II Samuel 8] And it was after this that David smote the Philistines and humbled them, and he took Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.

וַיַּ֖ךְ אֶת־מוֹאָ֑ב וַיִּהְי֤וּ מוֹאָב֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים לְדָוִ֔יד נֹשְׂאֵ֖י מִנְחָֽה׃

And he smote Mo᾽av; and Mo᾽av became David’s servants, and brought tribute.

וַיַּ֥ךְ דָּוִ֛יד אֶת־הֲדַדְעֶ֥זֶר מֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָ֖ה חֲמָ֑תָה בְּלֶכְתּ֕וֹ לְהַצִּ֥יב יָד֖וֹ בִּֽנְהַר־פְּרָֽת׃

And David smote Hadad῾ezer king of Żova as far as Ḥamat, as he went to set up his dominion by the river Perat.

And David smote Hadadezer the king of Tzovah in Chamath, when he [(Hadadezer)] went to extend his border to the Euphrates River.

וַיִּלְכֹּד֩ דָּוִ֨יד מִמֶּ֜נּוּ אֶ֣לֶף רֶ֗כֶב וְשִׁבְעַ֤ת אֲלָפִים֙ פָּרָשִׁ֔ים וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִ֣ישׁ רַגְלִ֑י וַיְעַקֵּ֤ר דָּוִיד֙ אֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶ֔כֶב וַיּוֹתֵ֥ר מִמֶּ֖נּוּ מֵ֥אָה רָֽכֶב׃

And David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David lamed all the chariot horses, but reserved from them enough for a hundred chariots.

And David took from him one thousand chariots and seven thousand riders and twenty thousand footmen. And David hamstrung all of the chariot [-horses (because of the interdict against a king's multiplying horses [viz. Deuteronomy 17:16])], and he left over of them [(for his personal use)] one hundred chariot [-teams of horses, i.e., four hundred horses].

וַיָּבֹא֙ אֲרַ֣ם דַּרְמֶ֔שֶׂק לַעְז֕וֹר לַהֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ צוֹבָ֑ה וַיַּ֤ךְ דָּוִיד֙ בַּאֲרָ֔ם עֶשְׂרִֽים־וּשְׁנַ֥יִם אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ׃

And when Aram of Darmeseq came to help Hadad῾ezer king of Żova, David slew of Aram twenty two thousand men.

וַיָּ֤שֶׂם דָּוִיד֙ בַּאֲרַ֣ם דַּרְמֶ֔שֶׂק וַיְהִ֤י אֲרָם֙ לְדָוִ֔יד עֲבָדִ֖ים נֹשְׂאֵ֣י מִנְחָ֑ה וַיּ֤וֹשַׁע יְהֹוָה֙ לְדָוִ֔יד בְּכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽךְ׃

Then David put garrisons in Aram of Darmeseq; and the people of Aram became David’s servants, and brought tribute. Thus the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

And David placed tax collectors in Aram-darmesek, and (the men of) Aram were servants for David to bear gifts. And the L-rd helped David in all that he undertook.

וַיִּקַּ֣ח דָּוִ֗יד אֵ֚ת שִׁלְטֵ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָי֔וּ עַ֖ל עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר וַיְבִיאֵ֖ם יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadad῾ezer, and brought them to Yerushalayim.

וּמִטִּבְחַ֤ת וּמִכּוּן֙ עָרֵ֣י הֲדַדְעֶ֔זֶר לָקַ֥ח דָּוִ֛יד נְחֹ֖שֶׁת רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד בָּ֣הּ**׀** עָשָׂ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אֶת־יָ֤ם הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ וְאֶת־הָֽעַמּוּדִ֔ים וְאֵ֖ת כְּלֵ֥י הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃{פ}

Likewise from Tivĥat, and from Kun, cities of Hadad῾ezer, David took very much brass, with which Shelomo made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

And from Tivchath and Kun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much copper, with which Solomon made the copper Sea and the pillars and the copper vessels.

וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע תֹּ֖עוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ חֲמָ֑ת כִּ֚י הִכָּ֣ה דָוִ֔יד אֶת־כׇּל־חֵ֖יל הֲדַדְעֶ֥זֶר מֶלֶךְ־צוֹבָֽה׃

Now when To῾u king of Ḥamat heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadad῾ezer king of Żova;

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אֶת־הֲדֽוֹרָם־בְּנ֣וֹ אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־דָּ֠וִ֠יד (לשאול) [לִשְׁאׇל־]ל֨וֹ לְשָׁל֜וֹם וּֽלְבָרְכ֗וֹ עַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִלְחַ֤ם בַּהֲדַדְעֶ֙זֶר֙ וַיַּכֵּ֔הוּ כִּי־אִ֛ישׁ מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת תֹּ֖עוּ הָיָ֣ה הֲדַדְעָ֑זֶר וְכֹ֗ל כְּלֵ֛י זָהָ֥ב וָכֶ֖סֶף וּנְחֹֽשֶׁת׃

he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadad῾ezer, and smitten him; (for Hadad῾ezer had wars with To῾u;) and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

גַּם־אֹתָ֗ם הִקְדִּ֞ישׁ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִיד֙ לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה עִם־הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ וְהַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָשָׂ֖א מִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם מֵאֱד֤וֹם וּמִמּוֹאָב֙ וּמִבְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וּמִפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וּמֵעֲמָלֵֽק׃

These also did king David dedicate to the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all these nations; from Edom, and from Mo᾽av, and from the children of ῾Ammon, and from the Pelishtim, and from ῾Amaleq.

These, too, did King David dedicate to the [(temple of the) L-rd with the silver and the gold that he had taken from all the nations [that he had conquered]: from Edom and from Moav and from the sons of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek.

Moreover Avshay the son of Żeruya slew of Edom in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.

So David reigned over all Yisra᾽el, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

And Yo᾽av the son of Żeruya was over the host; and Yehoshafat the son of Aĥilud, was recorder.

And Żadoq the son of Aĥituv, and Avimelekh the son of Evyatar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada was over the Kereti and the Peleti; and the sons of David were chief ministers about the king.
