###### I Chronicles 22:1

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד זֶ֣ה ה֔וּא בֵּ֖ית יְהֹוָ֣ה הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְזֶה־מִּזְבֵּ֥חַ לְעֹלָ֖ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃{פ}

Then David said, This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Yisra᾽el.

And David said: This is the house of the L-rd G-d and this is the altar for the burnt-offering of Israel.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד לִכְנוֹס֙ אֶת־הַגֵּרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּעֲמֵ֣ד חֹצְבִ֗ים לַחְצוֹב֙ אַבְנֵ֣י גָזִ֔ית לִבְנ֖וֹת בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And David commanded to gather together the strangers who were in the land of Yisra᾽el and he set masons to hew dressed stones to build the house of God.

And David ordered to gather the strangers who were in Eretz Yisrael, and he set up hewers to hew wrought stone to build the house of G-d.

וּבַרְזֶ֣ל׀לָ֠רֹ֠ב לַֽמִּסְמְרִ֞ים לְדַלְת֧וֹת הַשְּׁעָרִ֛ים וְלַֽמְחַבְּר֖וֹת הֵכִ֣ין דָּוִ֑יד וּנְחֹ֥שֶׁת לָרֹ֖ב אֵ֥ין מִשְׁקָֽל׃

And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;

And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates and for the couplings, and copper in abundance, without weight [i.e., beggaring weight].

וַעֲצֵ֥י אֲרָזִ֖ים לְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר כִּֽי־הֵ֠בִ֠יאוּ הַצִּידֹנִ֨ים וְהַצֹּרִ֜ים עֲצֵ֧י אֲרָזִ֛ים לָרֹ֖ב לְדָוִֽיד׃{פ}

and cedar trees in abundance: for the men of Żidon and of Żor brought much cedar wood to David.

And cedar trees without numbers; for the Tziddonites and the Tzorites brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֗יד שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִי֮ נַ֣עַר וָרָךְ֒ וְהַבַּ֜יִת לִבְנ֣וֹת לַֽיהֹוָ֗ה לְהַגְדִּ֨יל׀לְמַ֜עְלָה לְשֵׁ֤ם וּלְתִפְאֶ֙רֶת֙ לְכׇל־הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת אָכִ֥ינָה נָּ֖א ל֑וֹ וַיָּ֧כֶן דָּוִ֛יד לָרֹ֖ב לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ׃

And David said, Shelomo my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all lands: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David provided abundant materials before his death.

And David said: Solomon my son is young and untried and the house must be built for the L-rd, to be greatly exalted for fame and glory through all the lands. I shall prepare it for him. And David prepared (it) abundantly before his death.

וַיִּקְרָ֖א לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנ֑וֹ וַיְצַוֵּ֙הוּ֙ לִבְנ֣וֹת בַּ֔יִת לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃{ס}

Then he called for Shelomo his son, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Yisra᾽el.

וַיְהִ֨י עָלַ֤י דְּבַר־יְהֹוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר דָּ֤ם לָרֹב֙ שָׁפַ֔כְתָּ וּמִלְחָמ֥וֹת גְּדֹל֖וֹת עָשִׂ֑יתָ לֹא־תִבְנֶ֥ה בַ֙יִת֙ לִשְׁמִ֔י כִּ֚י דָּמִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים שָׁפַ֥כְתָּ אַ֖רְצָה לְפָנָֽי׃

but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house to my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

And the word of the L-rd came to me, saying: "Blood in abundance did you spill, and great wars did you wage. You will not build a house for My name, for blood in abundance did you spill to the ground before Me.

הִנֵּה־בֵ֞ן נוֹלָ֣ד לָ֗ךְ ה֤וּא יִֽהְיֶה֙ אִ֣ישׁ מְנוּחָ֔ה וַהֲנִיח֥וֹתִי ל֛וֹ מִכׇּל־אוֹיְבָ֖יו מִסָּבִ֑יב כִּ֤י שְׁלֹמֹה֙ יִֽהְיֶ֣ה שְׁמ֔וֹ וְשָׁל֥וֹם וָשֶׁ֛קֶט אֶתֵּ֥ן עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּיָמָֽיו׃

Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of tranquillity; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Shelomo, and I will give peace and quietness to Yisra᾽el in his days.

Behold, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of repose, and I will give him rest from all of his foes roundabout. For Shlomoh will be his name. and peace [(shalom)] and quiet will I give to Israel in his days.

הֽוּא־יִבְנֶ֥ה בַ֙יִת֙ לִשְׁמִ֔י וְהוּא֙ יִֽהְיֶה־לִּ֣י לְבֵ֔ן וַאֲנִי־ל֖וֹ לְאָ֑ב וַהֲכִ֨ינוֹתִ֜י כִּסֵּ֧א מַלְכוּת֛וֹ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃

He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Yisra᾽el forever.

עַתָּ֣ה בְנִ֔י יְהִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה עִמָּ֑ךְ וְהִצְלַחְתָּ֗ וּבָנִ֙יתָ֙ בֵּ֚ית יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֥ר עָלֶֽיךָ׃

Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he has said of thee,

אַ֣ךְ יִֽתֶּן־לְךָ֤ יְהֹוָה֙ שֵׂ֣כֶל וּבִינָ֔ה וִֽיצַוְּךָ֖ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלִשְׁמ֕וֹר אֶת־תּוֹרַ֖ת יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃

Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge over Yisra᾽el that thou mayst keep the Tora of the Lord thy God.

But the L-rd will give you intelligence and understanding, and He will command you over Israel and (He will command you) to heed the Torah of the L-rd your G-d.

אָ֣ז תַּצְלִ֔יחַ אִם־תִּשְׁמ֗וֹר לַֽעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־הַחֻקִּ֣ים וְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל חֲזַ֣ק וֶאֱמָ֔ץ אַל־תִּירָ֖א וְאַל־תֵּחָֽת׃

Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord commanded Moshe for Yisra᾽el: be strong, and of good courage; do not dread, or be dismayed.

Then you will succeed, if you take heed to do the statutes and the judgments which the L-rd commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and firm. Do not fear and do not break.


###### I Chronicles 22:14

וְהִנֵּ֨ה בְעׇנְיִ֜י הֲכִינ֣וֹתִי לְבֵית־יְהֹוָ֗ה זָהָ֞ב כִּכָּרִ֤ים מֵֽאָה־אֶ֙לֶף֙ וְכֶ֗סֶף אֶ֤לֶף אֲלָפִים֙ כִּכָּרִ֔ים וְלַנְּחֹ֤שֶׁת וְלַבַּרְזֶל֙ אֵ֣ין מִשְׁקָ֔ל כִּ֥י לָרֹ֖ב הָיָ֑ה וְעֵצִ֤ים וַֽאֲבָנִים֙ הֲכִינ֔וֹתִי וַעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם תּוֹסִֽיף׃

Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a million talents of silver; and brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: and timber and stone have I prepared; and thou mayst add to it.

Behold, in my [(relative)] poverty, I have prepared for the house of the L-rd, gold, one hundred thousand talents, and silver, a thousand thousand talents, and copper and iron without weight, for it was (available) in abundance. And wood and stones did I prepare, and you shall add to them.

וְעִמְּךָ֤ לָרֹב֙ עֹשֵׂ֣י מְלָאכָ֔ה חֹצְבִ֕ים וְחָרָשֵׁ֥י אֶ֖בֶן וָעֵ֑ץ וְכׇל־חָכָ֖ם בְּכׇל־מְלָאכָֽה׃

Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of skilful men for every manner of work.

לַזָּהָ֥ב לַכֶּ֛סֶף וְלַנְּחֹ֥שֶׁת וְלַבַּרְזֶ֖ל אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר ק֣וּם וַעֲשֵׂ֔ה וִיהִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה עִמָּֽךְ׃

Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no account. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the Lord be with thee.

And David commanded all the princes of Yisra᾽el to help Shelomo his son, saying,

הֲלֹ֨א יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם וְהֵנִ֥יחַ לָכֶ֖ם מִסָּבִ֑יב כִּ֣י**׀** נָתַ֣ן בְּיָדִ֗י אֵ֚ת יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וְנִכְבְּשָׁ֥ה הָאָ֛רֶץ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה וְלִפְנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹ׃

Is not the Lord your God with you? and has he not given you rest on every side? for he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.

עַתָּ֗ה תְּנ֤וּ לְבַבְכֶם֙ וְנַפְשְׁכֶ֔ם לִדְר֖וֹשׁ לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְק֗וּמוּ וּבְנוּ֙ אֶת־מִקְדַּשׁ֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים לְהָבִ֞יא אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן בְּרִית־יְהֹוָ֗ה וּכְלֵי֙ קֹ֣דֶשׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים לַבַּ֖יִת הַנִּבְנֶ֥ה לְשֵׁם־יְהֹוָֽה׃{פ}

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord.

Now, set your hearts and your souls to soliciting the L-rd your G-d. And arise and build the sanctuary of the L-rd G-d, to bring the ark of the covenant of the L-rd and the holy vessels of G-d to the house to be built in the name of the L-rd.
