###### I Chronicles 28:1

וַיַּקְהֵ֣ל דָּוִ֣יד אֶת־כׇּל־שָׂרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל שָׂרֵ֣י הַשְּׁבָטִ֣ים וְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמַּחְלְק֣וֹת הַמְשָׁרְתִ֪ים אֶת־הַמֶּ֟לֶךְ וְשָׂרֵ֣י הָאֲלָפִ֣ים וְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמֵּא֡וֹת וְשָׂרֵ֣י כׇל־רְכוּשׁ־וּמִקְנֶה֩׀לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ וּלְבָנָ֜יו עִם־הַסָּרִיסִ֧ים וְהַגִּבּוֹרִ֛ים וּֽלְכׇל־גִּבּ֥וֹר חָ֖יִל אֶל־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

And David assembled all the princes of Yisra᾽el, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that served the king by divisions, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the property and possessions of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the men at arms to Yerushalayim.

וַיָּ֨קׇם דָּוִ֤יד הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־רַגְלָ֔יו וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שְׁמָע֖וּנִי אַחַ֣י וְעַמִּ֑י אֲנִ֣י עִם־לְבָבִ֡י לִבְנוֹת֩ בֵּ֨ית מְנוּחָ֜ה לַאֲר֣וֹן בְּרִית־יְהֹוָ֗ה וְלַֽהֲדֹם֙ רַגְלֵ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ וַהֲכִינ֖וֹתִי לִבְנֽוֹת׃

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and I had made ready for building:

And King David rose to his feet and said: Hear me, my brothers and my people. It is in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the L-rd and for the footstool of our G-d, and I have prepared [all that is needed] to build (it).

וְהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אָ֣מַר לִ֔י לֹא־תִבְנֶ֥ה בַ֖יִת לִשְׁמִ֑י כִּ֣י אִ֧ישׁ מִלְחָמ֛וֹת אַ֖תָּה וְדָמִ֥ים שָׁפָֽכְתָּ׃

but God said to me, Thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou hast been a man of battles, and hast shed blood.

But G-d said to me: Do not build a house to My name, for you are a man of war and you have spilled blood.

וַיִּבְחַ֡ר יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵי֩ יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל בִּ֜י מִכֹּ֣ל בֵּית־אָבִ֗י לִהְי֨וֹת לְמֶ֤לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְעוֹלָ֔ם כִּ֤י בִֽיהוּדָה֙ בָּחַ֣ר לְנָגִ֔יד וּבְבֵ֥ית יְהוּדָ֖ה בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑י וּבִבְנֵ֣י אָבִ֔י בִּ֣י רָצָ֔ה לְהַמְלִ֖יךְ עַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Yet the Lord God of Yisra᾽el chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Yisra᾽el forever: for he has chosen Yehuda to be the ruler; and out of the house of Yehuda, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Yisra᾽el:

And the L-rd G-d of Israel chose me of all of my father's house to be king over Israel forever. For in Judah He chose a leader; and in the house of Judah, my father's house; and of the sons of my father, me did He want to make king over Israel.

וּמִ֨כׇּל־בָּנַ֔י כִּ֚י רַבִּ֣ים בָּנִ֔ים נָ֥תַן לִ֖י יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיִּבְחַר֙ בִּשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֔י לָשֶׁ֗בֶת עַל־כִּסֵּ֛א מַלְכ֥וּת יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

and of all my sons, (for the Lord has given me many sons), he has chosen Shelomo my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Yisra᾽el.

And of all of my sons (for many sons did the L-rd give me) He chose Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the L-rd over Israel.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לִ֔י שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בִנְךָ֔ הוּא־יִבְנֶ֥ה בֵיתִ֖י וַחֲצֵרוֹתָ֑י כִּֽי־בָחַ֨רְתִּי ב֥וֹ לִי֙ לְבֵ֔ן וַאֲנִ֖י אֶהְיֶה־לּ֥וֹ לְאָֽב׃

And he said to me, Shelomo thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be a father to him.

And He said to me: Solomon your son, he will build My house and My courts. For I have chosen him for Me as a son, and I shall be to him as a Father.

וַהֲכִינוֹתִ֥י אֶת־מַלְכוּת֖וֹ עַד־לְעוֹלָ֑ם אִם־יֶחֱזַ֗ק לַעֲשׂ֛וֹת מִצְוֺתַ֥י וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

Moreover I will establish his kingdom forever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.

And I have established his kingdom forever if he will strengthen himself to do My mitzvoth and My judgments as of this day.

וְ֠עַתָּ֠ה לְעֵינֵ֨י כׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל קְהַל־יְהֹוָה֙ וּבְאׇזְנֵ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ שִׁמְר֣וּ וְדִרְשׁ֔וּ כׇּל־מִצְוֺ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם לְמַ֤עַן תִּֽירְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה וְהִנְחַלְתֶּ֛ם לִבְנֵיכֶ֥ם אַחֲרֵיכֶ֖ם עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃

Now therefore in the sight of all Yisra᾽el the congregation of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the Lord your God: that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you forever.

And now, before the eyes of all of Israel, the congregation of the L-rd [(I exhort you:)] Keep and seek all the mitzvoth of the L-rd your G-d so that you inherit the good land and so that you bequeath it to your sons after you forever.

וְאַתָּ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹֽה־בְנִ֡י דַּע֩ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֨י אָבִ֜יךָ וְעׇבְדֵ֗הוּ בְּלֵ֤ב שָׁלֵם֙ וּבְנֶ֣פֶשׁ חֲפֵצָ֔ה כִּ֤י כׇל־לְבָבוֹת֙ דּוֹרֵ֣שׁ יְהֹוָ֔ה וְכׇל־יֵ֥צֶר מַחֲשָׁב֖וֹת מֵבִ֑ין אִֽם־תִּדְרְשֶׁ֙נּוּ֙ יִמָּ֣צֵא לָ֔ךְ וְאִם־תַּעַזְבֶ֖נּוּ יַזְנִיחֲךָ֥ לָעַֽד׃

And thou, Shelomo my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found by thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off forever.

And you, Solomon, my son, know the G-d of your father and serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing spirit. For the L-rd seeks out all hearts and He understands the inclination of all thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found for you; and if you leave Him, He will forsake you forever.

רְאֵ֣ה**׀** עַתָּ֗ה כִּֽי־יְהֹוָ֛ה בָּ֧חַר בְּךָ֛ לִבְנֽוֹת־בַּ֥יִת לַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ חֲזַ֥ק וַעֲשֵֽׂה׃{פ}

Take heed now; for the Lord has chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

See, now, that the L-rd has chosen you to build a house as a sanctuary [for Him]. Be strong and do!

וַיִּתֵּ֣ן דָּוִ֣יד לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנ֡וֹ אֶת־תַּבְנִ֣ית הָאוּלָם֩ וְֽאֶת־בָּ֨תָּ֜יו וְגַנְזַכָּ֧יו וַעֲלִיֹּתָ֛יו וַחֲדָרָ֥יו הַפְּנִימִ֖ים וּבֵ֥ית הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃

Then David gave to Shelomo his son the pattern of the porch, and of its houses and of its treasuries, and of its upper chambers, and of its inner rooms, and of the place of the ark with its covering,

And David gave to Solomon his son the plans for the Ulam [(the entrance hall)] and its houses and its treasuries and its upper stories and its inner chambers and the house of the ark cover [i.e., the holy of holies].

וְתַבְנִ֗ית כֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה בָר֙וּחַ֙ עִמּ֔וֹ לְחַצְר֧וֹת בֵּית־יְהֹוָ֛ה וּלְכׇל־הַלְּשָׁכ֖וֹת סָבִ֑יב לְאֹֽצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וּלְאֹצְר֖וֹת הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃

and the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the holy things:

He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:

וּלְמִזְבַּ֧ח הַקְּטֹ֛רֶת זָהָ֥ב מְזֻקָּ֖ק בַּמִּשְׁקָ֑ל וּלְתַבְנִ֣ית הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗ה הַכְּרוּבִ֤ים זָהָב֙ לְפֹ֣רְשִׂ֔ים וְסֹכְכִ֖ים עַל־אֲר֥וֹן בְּרִית־יְהֹוָֽה׃

and for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot, that is the keruvim, that spread out their wings, and cover the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

הַכֹּ֥ל בִּכְתָ֛ב מִיַּ֥ד יְהֹוָ֖ה עָלַ֣י הִשְׂכִּ֑יל כֹּ֖ל מַלְאֲכ֥וֹת הַתַּבְנִֽית׃{פ}

All this, said he, is put in writing by the hand of the Lord who instructed me, all the works of this pattern.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנ֗וֹ חֲזַ֤ק וֶֽאֱמַץ֙ וַעֲשֵׂ֔ה אַל־תִּירָ֖א וְאַל־תֵּחָ֑ת כִּי֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֤ים אֱלֹהַי֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ לֹ֤א יַרְפְּךָ֙ וְלֹ֣א יַעַזְבֶ֔ךָּ עַד־לִכְל֕וֹת כׇּל־מְלֶ֖אכֶת עֲבוֹדַ֥ת בֵּית־יְהֹוָֽה׃

And David said to Shelomo his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: do not fear, or be dismayed: for the Lord God, my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, or forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

And David said to Solomon his son: Be strong and firm and do. Do not fear and do not break. For the L-rd G-d, my G-d is with you. He will not let go of you and will not leave you until the completion of all the work of the service of the house of the L-rd.

וְהִנֵּ֗ה מַחְלְקוֹת֙ הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְכׇל־עֲבוֹדַ֖ת בֵּ֣ית הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְעִמְּךָ֨ בְכׇל־מְלָאכָ֜ה לְכׇל־נָדִ֤יב בַּֽחׇכְמָה֙ לְכׇל־עֲבוֹדָ֔ה וְהַשָּׂרִ֥ים וְכׇל־הָעָ֖ם לְכׇל־דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃{ס}

And, behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.

And, behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of G-d. And with you, in every (kind of) work, all who volunteer (their services) in wisdom for every (kind of) service. And the officers and the whole people (are at your service) for all that you bid.
