###### I Chronicles 29:1

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤יד הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְכׇל־הַקָּהָ֔ל שְׁלֹמֹ֨ה בְנִ֥י אֶחָ֛ד בָּחַר־בּ֥וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים נַ֣עַר וָרָ֑ךְ וְהַמְּלָאכָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה כִּ֣י לֹ֤א לְאָדָם֙ הַבִּירָ֔ה כִּ֖י לַיהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And David the king said to all the congregation, Shelomo my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.

And King David said to the entire congregation: Solomon my son is [only] one. G-d has chosen him, young and untried. And the work is great. For the palace [i.e., the Temple] is not for man, but for the L-rd G-d.

וּֽכְכׇל־כֹּחִ֞י הֲכִינ֣וֹתִי לְבֵית־אֱלֹהַ֗י הַזָּהָ֣ב׀לַ֠זָּהָ֠ב וְהַכֶּ֨סֶף לַכֶּ֜סֶף וְהַנְּחֹ֣שֶׁת לַנְּחֹ֗שֶׁת הַבַּרְזֶל֙ לַבַּרְזֶ֔ל וְהָעֵצִ֖ים לָעֵצִ֑ים אַבְנֵי־שֹׁ֨הַם וּמִלּוּאִ֜ים אַבְנֵי־פ֣וּךְ וְרִקְמָ֗ה וְכֹ֨ל אֶ֧בֶן יְקָרָ֛ה וְאַבְנֵי־שַׁ֖יִשׁ לָרֹֽב׃

Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; Shoham stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and coloured stones; and all manner of precious stones, and marble stone in abundance.

And with all my strength I prepared for the house of my G-d. Gold for the (things of) gold, silver for the silver, copper for the copper, iron for the iron, wood for the wood, onyx stones and (stones) for setting, carbuncle stones and embroidery, and all precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

וְע֗וֹד בִּרְצוֹתִי֙ בְּבֵ֣ית אֱלֹהַ֔י יֶשׁ־לִ֥י סְגֻלָּ֖ה זָהָ֣ב וָכָ֑סֶף נָתַ֤תִּי לְבֵית־אֱלֹהַי֙ לְמַ֔עְלָה מִכׇּל־הֲכִינ֖וֹתִי לְבֵ֥ית הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, I have given of my own private treasure, of gold and silver, to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

שְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֛ים כִּכְּרֵ֥י זָהָ֖ב מִזְּהַ֣ב אוֹפִ֑יר וְשִׁבְעַ֨ת אֲלָפִ֤ים כִּכַּר־כֶּ֙סֶף֙ מְזֻקָּ֔ק לָט֖וּחַ קִיר֥וֹת הַבָּתִּֽים׃

three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ofir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses:

לַזָּהָ֤ב לַזָּהָב֙ וְלַכֶּ֣סֶף לַכֶּ֔סֶף וּלְכׇל־מְלָאכָ֖ה בְּיַ֣ד חָרָשִׁ֑ים וּמִ֣י מִתְנַדֵּ֔ב לְמַלֹּ֥אות יָד֛וֹ הַיּ֖וֹם לַיהֹוָֽה׃

the gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?

The gold for the gold and the silver for the silver and (materials) for all the work, in the hands of the craftsmen. And who [(of you the people)] will volunteer to fill his hand today for the [house of] the L-rd?

Then the chief of the fathers’ houses and princes of the tribes of Yisra᾽el, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,

וַֽיִּתְּנ֞וּ לַעֲבוֹדַ֣ת בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים זָהָ֞ב כִּכָּרִ֣ים חֲמֵשֶׁת־אֲלָפִים֮ וַאֲדַרְכֹנִ֣ים רִבּוֹ֒ וְכֶ֗סֶף כִּכָּרִים֙ עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת אֲלָפִ֔ים וּנְחֹ֕שֶׁת רִבּ֛וֹ וּשְׁמוֹנַ֥ת אֲלָפִ֖ים כִּכָּרִ֑ים וּבַרְזֶ֖ל מֵאָה־אֶ֥לֶף כִּכָּרִֽים׃

and gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.

וְהַנִּמְצָ֤א אִתּוֹ֙ אֲבָנִ֔ים נָתְנ֖וּ לְאוֹצַ֣ר בֵּית־יְהֹוָ֑ה עַ֥ל יַד־יְחִיאֵ֖ל הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּֽי׃

And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Yeĥi᾽el the Gershonite.

וַיִּשְׂמְח֤וּ הָעָם֙ עַל־הִֽתְנַדְּבָ֔ם כִּ֚י בְּלֵ֣ב שָׁלֵ֔ם הִֽתְנַדְּב֖וּ לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה וְגַם֙ דָּוִ֣יד הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ שָׂמַ֖ח שִׂמְחָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃{פ}

Then the people rejoiced, for having offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be Thou, Lord God of Yisra᾽el our father, forever and ever.

לְךָ֣ יְ֠הֹוָ֠ה הַגְּדֻלָּ֨ה וְהַגְּבוּרָ֤ה וְהַתִּפְאֶ֙רֶת֙ וְהַנֵּ֣צַח וְהַה֔וֹד כִּי־כֹ֖ל בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם וּבָאָ֑רֶץ לְךָ֤ יְהֹוָה֙ הַמַּמְלָכָ֔ה וְהַמִּתְנַשֵּׂ֖א לְכֹ֥ל׀לְרֹֽאשׁ׃

Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and on earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and Thou art exalted as head above all.

וְהָעֹ֤שֶׁר וְהַכָּבוֹד֙ מִלְּפָנֶ֔יךָ וְאַתָּה֙ מוֹשֵׁ֣ל בַּכֹּ֔ל וּבְיָדְךָ֖ כֹּ֣חַ וּגְבוּרָ֑ה וּבְיָ֣דְךָ֔ לְגַדֵּ֥ל וּלְחַזֵּ֖ק לַכֹּֽל׃

Both riches and honour come of Thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in Thy hand is power and might; and in Thy hand it is to make great, and to give strength to all.

Now therefore, our God, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name.

וְכִ֨י מִ֤י אֲנִי֙ וּמִ֣י עַמִּ֔י כִּי־נַעְצֹ֣ר כֹּ֔חַ לְהִתְנַדֵּ֖ב כָּזֹ֑את כִּי־מִמְּךָ֣ הַכֹּ֔ל וּמִיָּדְךָ֖ נָתַ֥נּוּ לָֽךְ׃

But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly after this sort? for all things come of Thee, and of Thy own have we given Thee.

כִּֽי־גֵרִ֨ים אֲנַ֧חְנוּ לְפָנֶ֛יךָ וְתוֹשָׁבִ֖ים כְּכׇל־אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ כַּצֵּ֧ל׀יָמֵ֛ינוּ עַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְאֵ֥ין מִקְוֶֽה׃

For we are strangers before Thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding.

For strangers are we before You, and sojourners like all of our fathers. Like a shadow are our days upon the earth, and there is no hope [(against death)].

וְיָדַ֣עְתִּי אֱלֹהַ֔י כִּ֤י אַתָּה֙ בֹּחֵ֣ן לֵבָ֔ב וּמֵישָׁרִ֖ים תִּרְצֶ֑ה אֲנִ֗י בְּיֹ֤שֶׁר לְבָבִי֙ הִתְנַדַּ֣בְתִּי כׇל־אֵ֔לֶּה וְעַתָּ֗ה עַמְּךָ֙ הַנִּמְצְאוּ־פֹ֔ה רָאִ֥יתִי בְשִׂמְחָ֖ה לְהִֽתְנַדֶּב־לָֽךְ׃

I know also, my God, that Thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now I have seen Thy people, who are present here, offering joyfully and freely to Thee.

יְהֹוָ֗ה אֱ֠לֹהֵ֠י אַבְרָהָ֞ם יִצְחָ֤ק וְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֲבֹתֵ֔ינוּ שׇׁמְרָה־זֹּ֣את לְעוֹלָ֔ם לְיֵ֥צֶר מַחְשְׁב֖וֹת לְבַ֣ב עַמֶּ֑ךָ וְהָכֵ֥ן לְבָבָ֖ם אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

O Lord God of Avraham, Yiżĥaq and of Yisra᾽el, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of Thy people, and direct their hearts to Thee:

וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֗י תֵּ֚ן לֵבָ֣ב שָׁלֵ֔ם לִשְׁמוֹר֙ מִצְוֺתֶ֔יךָ עֵדְוֺתֶ֖יךָ וְחֻקֶּ֑יךָ וְלַעֲשׂ֣וֹת הַכֹּ֔ל וְלִבְנ֖וֹת הַבִּירָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־הֲכִינֽוֹתִי׃{פ}

And give to Shelomo my son a perfect heart, to keep Thy commandments, Thy testimonies, and Thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִיד֙ לְכׇל־הַקָּהָ֔ל בָּ֥רְכוּ נָ֖א אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֑ם וַיְבָרְכ֣וּ כׇֽל־הַקָּהָ֗ל לַֽיהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֹתֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּקְּד֧וּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֛וּ לַיהֹוָ֖ה וְלַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the Lord your God. And all the congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and prostrated themselves before the Lord, and the king.

וַיִּזְבְּח֣וּ לַיהֹוָ֣ה׀זְ֠בָחִ֠ים וַיַּעֲל֨וּ עֹל֜וֹת לַיהֹוָ֗ה לְֽמׇחֳרַת֮ הַיּ֣וֹם הַהוּא֒ פָּרִ֨ים אֶ֜לֶף אֵלִ֥ים אֶ֛לֶף כְּבָשִׂ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וְנִסְכֵּיהֶ֑ם וּזְבָחִ֥ים לָרֹ֖ב לְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And they sacrificed sacrifices to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings to the Lord, on the morrow after that day, a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Yisra᾽el:

And they sacrificed peace-offerings to the L-rd, and they offered up burnt-offerings to the L-rd on the morrow of that day: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, and their libations. And peace-offerings in abundance (were offered) by all of Israel.

וַיֹּאכְל֨וּ וַיִּשְׁתּ֜וּ לִפְנֵ֧י יְהֹוָ֛ה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בְּשִׂמְחָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וַיַּמְלִ֤יכוּ שֵׁנִית֙ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בֶן־דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּמְשְׁח֧וּ לַיהֹוָ֛ה לְנָגִ֖יד וּלְצָד֥וֹק לְכֹהֵֽן׃

and they did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Shelomo the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to the Lord to be the chief governor, and Żadoq to be priest.

וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב שְׁ֠לֹמֹ֠ה עַל־כִּסֵּ֨א יְהֹוָ֧ה׀לְמֶ֛לֶךְ תַּחַת־דָּוִ֥יד אָבִ֖יו וַיַּצְלַ֑ח וַיִּשְׁמְע֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Then Shelomo sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Yisra᾽el obeyed him.

וְכׇל־הַשָּׂרִים֙ וְהַגִּבֹּרִ֔ים וְגַ֕ם כׇּל־בְּנֵ֖י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑יד נָ֣תְנוּ יָ֔ד תַּ֖חַת שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Shelomo the king.
