###### II Chronicles 12:1

וַיְהִ֗י כְּהָכִ֞ין מַלְכ֤וּת רְחַבְעָם֙ וּכְחֶזְקָת֔וֹ עָזַ֖ב אֶת־תּוֹרַ֣ת יְהֹוָ֑ה וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עִמּֽוֹ׃{פ}

And it came to pass, when Reĥav῾am had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the Tora of the Lord, and all Yisra᾽el with him.

And it was, when the kingdom of Rechavam was established and it became strong, that he abandoned the Torah of the L rd, and all of Israel with him.

וַיְהִ֞י בַּשָּׁנָ֤ה הַֽחֲמִישִׁית֙ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֔ם עָלָ֛ה שִׁישַׁ֥ק מֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֖יִם עַל־יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם כִּ֥י מָעֲל֖וּ בַּיהֹוָֽה׃

And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Reĥav῾am, Shishaq king of Miżrayim came up against Yerushalayim, because they had transgressed against the Lord,

And it was, in the fifth year of King Rechavam, that Shishak king of Egypt (Pharaoh Nechoh) went up against Jerusalem, for they had been faithless to the L rd.


###### II Chronicles 12:3

בְּאֶ֤לֶף וּמָאתַ֙יִם֙ רֶ֔כֶב וּבְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף פָּרָשִׁ֑ים וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֗ר לָעָ֞ם אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֤אוּ עִמּוֹ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לוּבִ֥ים סֻכִּיִּ֖ים וְכוּשִֽׁים׃

with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen: and the people were without number who came with him out of Miżrayim; the Luvim, the Sukkiyyim, and the Kushim.

(He came up) with a thousand and two hundred chariots and sixty thousand riders. And there was no numbering the people that came with him from Egypt: Luvites, Sukkites, and Cushites.

וַיִּלְכֹּ֛ד אֶת־עָרֵ֥י הַמְּצֻר֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִיהוּדָ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֖א עַד־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃{ס}

And he took the fortified cities which pertained to Yehuda, and came to Yerushalayim.

And he captured Judah's fortified cities and he came until Jerusalem.

וּֽשְׁמַעְיָ֤ה הַנָּבִיא֙ בָּ֣א אֶל־רְחַבְעָ֔ם וְשָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־נֶאֶסְפ֥וּ אֶל־יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם מִפְּנֵ֣י שִׁישָׁ֑ק וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָהֶ֜ם כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אַתֶּם֙ עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִ֔י וְאַף־אֲנִ֛י עָזַ֥בְתִּי אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּיַד־שִׁישָֽׁק׃

Then came Shema῾ya the prophet to Reĥav῾am, and to the princes of Yehuda, who were fathered together to Yerushalayim, because of Shishaq, and he said to them, Thus says the Lord, You have forsaken me, and therefore I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishaq.

And Shemayah the prophet came to Rechavam and the princes of Judah who had gathered to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them: Thus says the L rd: You abandoned Me, and I, too, have abandoned you into the hand of Shishak.

וַיִּכָּנְע֥וּ שָׂרֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְהַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ צַדִּ֥יק׀יְהֹוָֽה׃

Whereupon the princes of Yisra᾽el and the king humbled themselves: and they said, The Lord is righteous.

And the princes of Israel and the king were humbled, and they said: "The L rd is righteous."


###### II Chronicles 12:7

וּבִרְא֤וֹת יְהֹוָה֙ כִּ֣י נִכְנָ֔עוּ הָיָה֩ דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֨ה אֶל־שְׁמַעְיָ֧ה׀לֵאמֹ֛ר נִכְנְע֖וּ לֹ֣א אַשְׁחִיתֵ֑ם וְנָתַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֤ם כִּמְעַט֙ לִפְלֵיטָ֔ה וְלֹא־תִתַּ֧ךְ חֲמָתִ֛י בִּירוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם בְּיַד־שִׁישָֽׁק׃

And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shema῾ya, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Yerushalayim by the hand of Shishaq.

And when the L rd saw that they were humbled, the word of the L rd came to Shemayah, saying: They are humbled; I will not destroy them. I will grant them a measure of deliverance. My wrath will not vent itself in Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

כִּ֥י יִֽהְיוּ־ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִ֑ים וְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ עֲב֣וֹדָתִ֔י וַעֲבוֹדַ֖ת מַמְלְכ֥וֹת הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃{ס}

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

But they will be slaves to him, and they will know [the difference between] My service and the service of the kingdoms of the land.

וַיַּ֨עַל שִׁישַׁ֥ק מֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֘יִם֮ עַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ֒͏ִם֒ וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶת־אֹצְר֣וֹת בֵּית־יְהֹוָ֗ה וְאֶת־אֹֽצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֶת־הַכֹּ֖ל לָקָ֑ח וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶת־מָגִנֵּ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

So Shishaq king of Miżrayim came up against Yerushalayim, and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Shelomo had made.

And Shishak king of Egypt went up against Jerusalem, and he took the treasures of the house of the L rd and the treasures of the house of the king. He took all. And he took the golden shields that Solomon had made.


###### II Chronicles 12:10

וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ רְחַבְעָם֙ תַּחְתֵּיהֶ֔ם מָגִנֵּ֖י נְחֹ֑שֶׁת וְהִפְקִ֗יד עַל־יַד֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָרָצִ֔ים הַשֹּׁ֣מְרִ֔ים פֶּ֖תַח בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

Instead of which king Reĥav῾am made shields of brass and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the king’s house.

And King Rechavam made in place of them copper shields, which he placed in the keeping of the captains of the runners who guarded the entrance of the king's house.

וַיְהִ֛י מִדֵּי־ב֥וֹא הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בֵּ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה בָּ֤אוּ הָֽרָצִים֙ וּנְשָׂא֔וּם וֶהֱשִׁב֖וּם אֶל־תָּ֥א הָרָצִֽים׃

And when the king entered into the house of the Lord, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

And it was, whenever the king came to the house of the L rd, the runners would come and bear them [before him in his honor] and [afterwards] they would return them to the cell of the runners.

וּבְהִכָּֽנְע֗וֹ שָׁ֤ב מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ אַף־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א לְהַשְׁחִ֖ית לְכָלָ֑ה וְגַם֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה הָיָ֖ה דְּבָרִ֥ים טוֹבִֽים׃{ס}

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so that he did not destroy him altogether: and also in Yehuda things went well.

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the L rd departed from him, not to destroy him utterly. And in [(the men of)] Judah, too, good things were found.

וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֞ק הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֛ם בִּירוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם וַיִּמְלֹ֑ךְ כִּ֣י בֶן־אַרְבָּעִ֣ים וְאַחַ֣ת שָׁנָה֩ רְחַבְעָ֨ם בְּמׇלְכ֜וֹ וּֽשְׁבַ֨ע עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֣ה**׀** מָלַ֣ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלַ֗͏ִם הָ֠עִ֠יר אֲשֶׁר־בָּחַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה לָשׂ֨וּם אֶת־שְׁמ֥וֹ שָׁם֙ מִכֹּל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ נַעֲמָ֖ה הָעַמֹּנִֽית׃

So king Reĥav῾am strengthened himself in Yerushalayim, and reigned: for Reĥav῾am was forty one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra᾽el to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Na῾ama an ῾Ammonite woman.

And King Rechavam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and he reigned (there). For Rechavam was forty-one years old when he began to rule. And for seventeen years he reigned in Jerusalem, the city in which the L rd had chosen to repose His name over all the [cities of the] tribes of Israel. (His mother's name was Na'amah the Amonitess)

וַיַּ֖עַשׂ הָרָ֑ע כִּ֣י לֹ֤א הֵכִין֙ לִבּ֔וֹ לִדְר֖וֹשׁ אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃{ס}

And he did evil, because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord.

And he did what was evil, for he had not readied his heart to seek out the L rd.


###### II Chronicles 12:15

וְדִבְרֵ֣י רְחַבְעָ֗ם הָרִֽאשֹׁנִים֙ וְהָאַ֣חֲרוֹנִ֔ים הֲלֹא־הֵ֨ם כְּתוּבִ֜ים בְּדִבְרֵ֨י שְׁמַעְיָ֧ה הַנָּבִ֛יא וְעִדּ֥וֹ הַחֹזֶ֖ה לְהִתְיַחֵ֑שׂ וּמִלְחֲמ֧וֹת רְחַבְעָ֛ם וְיָרׇבְעָ֖ם כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃

Now the acts of Reĥav῾am, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shema῾ya the prophet, and of ῾Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Reĥav῾am and Yorov῾am continually.

And the events of (the reign of) Rechavam, the earlier and the later, are they not recorded in the words of Shemayah the prophet and Iddo the seer in their genealogies. And the wars between Rechavam and Yeravam [persisted] all the days.


###### II Chronicles 12:16

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב רְחַבְעָם֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲבִיָּ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃{פ}

And Reĥav῾am slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Aviyya his son reigned in his stead.

And Rechavam rested with his fathers and he was buried in the city of David. And Aviyah his son reigned after him.
