###### II Chronicles 21:1

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יְהוֹשָׁפָט֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר עִם־אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יְהוֹרָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

Now Yehoshafat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Yehoram his son reigned in his stead.

And he had brothers, the sons of Yehoshafat, ῾Azaryahu, and Yeĥi᾽el, and Zekharyahu, and ῾Azaryahu, and Mikha᾽el, and Shefatyahu: all these were the sons of Yehoshafat king of Yisra᾽el.

וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לָהֶ֣ם׀אֲ֠בִיהֶ֠ם מַתָּנ֨וֹת רַבּ֜וֹת לְכֶ֤סֶף וּלְזָהָב֙ וּלְמִגְדָּנ֔וֹת עִם־עָרֵ֥י מְצֻר֖וֹת בִּֽיהוּדָ֑ה וְאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָ֛ה נָתַ֥ן לִֽיהוֹרָ֖ם כִּי־ה֥וּא הַבְּכֽוֹר׃{פ}

And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Yehuda: but he gave the kingdom to Yehoram; because he was the firstborn.

וַיָּ֨קׇם יְהוֹרָ֜ם עַל־מַמְלֶ֤כֶת אָבִיו֙ וַיִּתְחַזַּ֔ק וַיַּהֲרֹ֥ג אֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָ֖יו בֶּחָ֑רֶב וְגַ֖ם מִשָּׂרֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Now when Yehoram was taken over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Yisra᾽el.

And Yehoram rose over the kingdom of his father and strengthened himself. And he killed all of his brothers by the sword, and also some of the (chief) officers of Israel.

Yehoram was thirty two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Yerushalayim.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Yisra᾽el, as did the house of Aĥ᾽av: for he had a daughter of Aĥ᾽av to wife: and he did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord.

וְלֹא־אָבָ֣ה יְהֹוָ֗ה לְהַשְׁחִית֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֔יד לְמַ֣עַן הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרַ֖ת לְדָוִ֑יד וְכַאֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֗ר לָתֵ֨ת ל֥וֹ נִ֛יר וּלְבָנָ֖יו כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃

But the Lord did not desire to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons for ever.

In his days Edom revolted from under the dominion of Yehuda, and made themselves a king.

In his days, Edom rebelled against Judah and they set up a king over themselves [(until then having been governed by prefects appointed by the kings of Judah)].

וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר יְהוֹרָם֙ עִם־שָׂרָ֔יו וְכׇל־הָרֶ֖כֶב עִמּ֑וֹ וַֽיְהִי֙ קָ֣ם לַ֔יְלָה וַיַּ֗ךְ אֶת־אֱדוֹם֙ הַסּוֹבֵ֣ב אֵלָ֔יו וְאֵ֖ת שָׂרֵ֥י הָרָֽכֶב׃

Then Yehoram went out with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the men of Edom who surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots.

וַיִּפְשַׁ֨ע אֱד֜וֹם מִתַּ֣חַת יַד־יְהוּדָ֗ה עַ֚ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה אָ֣ז תִּפְשַׁ֥ע לִבְנָ֛ה בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖יא מִתַּ֣חַת יָד֑וֹ כִּ֣י עָזַ֔ב אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י אֲבֹתָֽיו׃

So Edom revolted from under the hand of Yehuda to this day. Then also did Livna revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.

גַּם־ה֥וּא עָשָֽׂה־בָמ֖וֹת בְּהָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֶּ֙זֶן֙ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וַיַּדַּ֖ח אֶת־יְהוּדָֽה׃{פ}

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Yehuda and caused the inhabitants of Yerushalayim to go astray, and drew Yehuda away.

He, too, made high places in the mountains of Judah and led the dwellers of Jerusalem astray and turned Judah away [(from the service of the L rd)].

וַיָּבֹ֤א אֵלָיו֙ מִכְתָּ֔ב מֵאֵלִיָּ֥הוּ הַנָּבִ֖יא לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֣ה**׀** אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אֱלֹהֵי֙ דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֔יךָ תַּ֗חַת אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־הָלַ֙כְתָּ֙ בְּדַרְכֵי֙ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט אָבִ֔יךָ וּבְדַרְכֵ֖י אָסָ֥א מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָֽה׃

And there came a writing to him from Eliyyahu the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not followed the ways of Yehoshafat thy father, nor the ways of Asa king of Yehuda,

וַתֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַתַּזְנֶ֤ה אֶת־יְהוּדָה֙ וְאֶת־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם כְּהַזְנ֖וֹת בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב וְגַ֨ם אֶת־אַחֶ֧יךָ בֵית־אָבִ֛יךָ הַטּוֹבִ֥ים מִמְּךָ֖ הָרָֽגְתָּ׃

behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

וְאַתָּ֛ה בׇּחֳלָיִ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים בְּמַחֲלֵ֣ה מֵעֶ֑יךָ עַד־יֵצְא֤וּ מֵעֶ֙יךָ֙ מִן־הַחֹ֔לִי יָמִ֖ים עַל־יָמִֽים׃

and thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels came out by reasons of his sickness: so he died in great agony. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

בֶּן־שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁתַּ֙יִם֙ הָיָ֣ה בְמׇלְכ֔וֹ וּשְׁמוֹנֶ֣ה שָׁנִ֔ים מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ בְּלֹ֣א חֶמְדָּ֔ה וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֙הוּ֙ בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֔יד וְלֹ֖א בְּקִבְר֥וֹת הַמְּלָכִֽים׃
