###### II Chronicles 7:1

וּכְכַלּ֤וֹת שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֔ל וְהָאֵ֗שׁ יָֽרְדָה֙ מֵֽהַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַתֹּ֥אכַל הָעֹלָ֖ה וְהַזְּבָחִ֑ים וּכְב֥וֹד יְהֹוָ֖ה מָלֵ֥א אֶת־הַבָּֽיִת׃

Now when Shelomo had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.

וְכֹ֣ל**׀** בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל רֹאִים֙ בְּרֶ֣דֶת הָאֵ֔שׁ וּכְב֥וֹד יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־הַבָּ֑יִת וַיִּכְרְעוּ֩ אַפַּ֨יִם אַ֤רְצָה עַל־הָרִֽצְפָה֙ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֔וּ וְהֹד֤וֹת לַֽיהֹוָה֙ כִּ֣י ט֔וֹב כִּ֥י לְעוֹלָ֖ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

And when all the children of Yisra᾽el saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and prostrated themselves, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his steadfast love endures for ever.

And all the children of Israel saw when the fire came down and the glory of the L rd was upon the house. And they knelt on the floor with their faces to the ground, and they prostrated themselves in thanks to the L rd — [saying:] "for He is good; for His lovingkindness endures forever."

And king Shelomo offered as a sacrifice twenty two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people consecrated the house of God.

וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֞ים עַל־מִשְׁמְרוֹתָ֣ם עֹמְדִ֗ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֞ם בִּכְלֵי־שִׁ֤יר יְהֹוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֜ה דָּוִ֣יד הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ לְהֹד֤וֹת לַֽיהֹוָה֙ כִּֽי־לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּ֔וֹ בְּהַלֵּ֥ל דָּוִ֖יד בְּיָדָ֑ם וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ (מחצצרים) [מַחְצְרִ֣ים] נֶגְדָּ֔ם וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֹמְדִֽים׃{ס}

And the priests stood at their posts: the Levites also with the instruments of music of the Lord, which David the king had made to praise the Lord, because his steadfast love endures for ever; with the praises of David in their hands; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Yisra᾽el stood.

And the priests were standing on their watches, and the Levites with the instruments of song of the L rd, which King David had made to give thanks to the L rd, "for His lovingkindness endures forever," with the [(instruments of)] praise of the L rd in their hand, and the priests, sounding the trumpets opposite them, and all of Israel standing.

וַיְקַדֵּ֣שׁ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אֶת־תּ֤וֹךְ הֶחָצֵר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י בֵית־יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּי־עָ֤שָׂה שָׁם֙ הָעֹל֔וֹת וְאֵ֖ת חֶלְבֵ֣י הַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים כִּֽי־מִזְבַּ֤ח הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לֹ֣א יָכ֗וֹל לְהָכִ֛יל אֶת־הָעֹלָ֥ה וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֖ה וְאֶת־הַחֲלָבִֽים׃

Moreover Shelomo hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazen altar which Shelomo had made was not able to contain the burnt offerings, and the meal offerings, and the fat.

And Solomon consecrated the midst of the court before the house of the L rd. For he offered there the burnt-offerings and the fats of the peace-offerings. For [(the stone altar made by Solomon in place of)] the copper altar [(made by Moses)], that was before the L rd, could not contain the burnt-offerings and the meal-offerings and the fats.

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אֶת־הֶ֠חָ֠ג בָּעֵ֨ת הַהִ֜יא שִׁבְעַ֤ת יָמִים֙ וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עִמּ֔וֹ קָהָ֖ל גָּד֣וֹל מְאֹ֑ד מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־נַ֥חַל מִצְרָֽיִם׃

Also at that time Shelomo kept the feast for seven days, and all Yisra᾽el with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Ḥamat to the wadi of Miżrayim.

And Solomon made the festival [(Succoth)] at that time, seven days, and all of Israel with him, a very great throng, from before Levo-chamath until Nachal Mitzrayim.

וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֛וּ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֖י עֲצָ֑רֶת כִּ֣י**׀** חֲנֻכַּ֣ת הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ עָשׂוּ֙ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים וְהֶחָ֖ג שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃

And on the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the consecration of the altar for seven days, and the feast for seven days.

וּבְי֨וֹם עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י שִׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־הָעָ֖ם לְאׇהֳלֵיהֶ֑ם שְׂמֵחִים֙ וְט֣וֹבֵי לֵ֔ב עַל־הַטּוֹבָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ לְדָוִ֣יד וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַמּֽוֹ׃

And on the twenty third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, glad and merry in heart for the bounty that the Lord had bestowed on David, and to Shelomo, and to Yisra᾽el his people.

וַיְכַ֧ל שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה וְאֶת־בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְאֵ֨ת כׇּל־הַבָּ֜א עַל־לֵ֣ב שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה לַעֲשׂ֧וֹת בְּבֵית־יְהֹוָ֛ה וּבְבֵית֖וֹ הִצְלִֽיחַ׃{פ}

Thus Shelomo finished the house of the Lord, and the king’s house: and all that came into Shelomo’s heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he carried out successfully.

And the Lord appeared to Shelomo by night, and said to him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

הֵ֣ן אֶעֱצֹ֤ר הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֣ה מָטָ֔ר וְהֵן־אֲצַוֶּ֥ה עַל־חָגָ֖ב לֶאֱכ֣וֹל הָאָ֑רֶץ וְאִם־אֲשַׁלַּ֥ח דֶּ֖בֶר בְּעַמִּֽי׃

If I shut up the heaven so that there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

וְיִכָּנְע֨וּ עַמִּ֜י אֲשֶׁ֧ר נִֽקְרָא־שְׁמִ֣י עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם וְיִֽתְפַּֽלְלוּ֙ וִיבַקְשׁ֣וּ פָנַ֔י וְיָשֻׁ֖בוּ מִדַּרְכֵיהֶ֣ם הָרָעִ֑ים וַֽאֲנִי֙ אֶשְׁמַ֣ע מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְאֶסְלַח֙ לְחַטָּאתָ֔ם וְאֶרְפָּ֖א אֶת־אַרְצָֽם׃

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.

Now my eyes shall be open and my ears be attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Yisra᾽el.

But if you turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them:

וּנְתַשְׁתִּ֗ים מֵעַ֤ל אַדְמָתִי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תִּי לָהֶ֔ם וְאֶת־הַבַּ֤יִת הַזֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּי לִשְׁמִ֔י אַשְׁלִ֖יךְ מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֑י וְאֶתְּנֶ֛נּוּ לְמָשָׁ֥ל וְלִשְׁנִינָ֖ה בְּכׇל־הָעַמִּֽים׃

then I will pluck them up from my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

וְהַבַּ֤יִת הַזֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה עֶלְי֔וֹן לְכׇל־עֹבֵ֥ר עָלָ֖יו יִשֹּׁ֑ם וְאָמַ֗ר בַּמֶּ֨ה עָשָׂ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ כָּ֔כָה לָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את וְלַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה׃

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one who passes by it; so that he shall say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house?

And this house, which had been exalted [(even among the nations)], all who pass before it will wonder [(in amazement)] and will say: Why did the L rd do this to this land and to this house?

וְאָמְר֗וּ עַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָזְב֜וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה**׀** אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֹתֵיהֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹצִיאָם֮ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֒יִם֒ וַֽיַּחֲזִ֙יקוּ֙ בֵּאלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם וַיַּעַבְד֑וּם עַל־כֵּן֙ הֵבִ֣יא עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הָרָעָ֖ה הַזֹּֽאת׃{פ}

Then they will say, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Miżrayim, and laid hold of other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore he brought all this evil upon them.

And they will say: It is because they forsook the L rd, the G d of their fathers, who took them out of the land of Egypt, and they embraced other gods and bowed down to them and served them. It is for this that the L rd brought down upon them all of this evil.
