###### II Samuel 6:1

וַיֹּ֨סֶף ע֥וֹד דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־כׇּל־בָּח֥וּר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אָֽלֶף׃

Dovid again gathered all the chosen men of Yisroel, thirty thousand.


###### II Samuel 6:2

וַיָּ֣קׇם**׀** וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד וְכׇל־הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ מִֽבַּעֲלֵ֖י יְהוּדָ֑ה לְהַעֲל֣וֹת מִשָּׁ֗ם אֵ֚ת אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָ֣א שֵׁ֗ם שֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֧ה צְבָא֛וֹת יֹשֵׁ֥ב הַכְּרֻבִ֖ים עָלָֽיו׃

Dovid arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baalei Yehuda, to bring up from there the Ark of Elokim, whose name is called by the name of Adonoy of Hosts who dwells upon the Cherubim.

וַיַּרְכִּ֜בוּ אֶת־אֲר֤וֹן הָאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל־עֲגָלָ֣ה חֲדָשָׁ֔ה וַיִּ֨שָּׂאֻ֔הוּ מִבֵּ֥ית אֲבִינָדָ֖ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּגִּבְעָ֑ה וְעֻזָּ֣א וְאַחְי֗וֹ בְּנֵי֙ אֲבִ֣ינָדָ֔ב נֹהֲגִ֖ים אֶת־הָעֲגָלָ֥ה חֲדָשָֽׁה׃

They had the Ark of Elokim ride on a new wagon. They carried it from the house of Avinodov that is in Givoh. Uzoh and Achyo, the sons of Avinodov were driving the new wagon.


###### II Samuel 6:4

וַיִּשָּׂאֻ֗הוּ מִבֵּ֤ית אֲבִֽינָדָב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּגִּבְעָ֔ה עִ֖ם אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְאַחְי֕וֹ הֹלֵ֖ךְ לִפְנֵ֥י הָאָרֽוֹן׃

They carried it from the house of Avinodov that was in Givoh accompanying the Ark of Elokim, and Achyo went before the Ark.


###### II Samuel 6:5

וְדָוִ֣ד**׀** וְכׇל־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מְשַֽׂחֲקִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּכֹ֖ל עֲצֵ֣י בְרוֹשִׁ֑ים וּבְכִנֹּר֤וֹת וּבִנְבָלִים֙ וּבְתֻפִּ֔ים וּבִמְנַעַנְעִ֖ים וּֽבְצֶלְצֱלִֽים׃

Dovid and all the house of Yisroel were rejoicing before [the Ark of] Adonoy with all [instruments made of] cypress wood [such as] harps, lyres, drums, coronets and cymbals.


###### II Samuel 6:6

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ עַד־גֹּ֣רֶן נָכ֑וֹן וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח עֻזָּ֜ה אֶל־אֲר֤וֹן הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ וַיֹּ֣אחֶז בּ֔וֹ כִּ֥י שָֽׁמְט֖וּ הַבָּקָֽר׃

They came to the grainery of Nochon and Uzoh stretched [his hand] towards the Ark of Elokim and held it because the ox had [made] it slip.


###### II Samuel 6:7

וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֤ף יְהֹוָה֙ בְּעֻזָּ֔ה וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ שָׁ֛ם הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עַל־הַשַּׁ֑ל וַיָּ֣מׇת שָׁ֔ם עִ֖ם אֲר֥וֹן הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

**The Metsudah Tanach series, Lakewood, N.J:**
Adonoy became angry with Uzoh and Elokim struck him there because of his mistake. He died there by the Ark of Elokim.


###### II Samuel 6:8

וַיִּ֣חַר לְדָוִ֔ד עַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר פָּרַ֧ץ יְהֹוָ֛ה פֶּ֖רֶץ בְּעֻזָּ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֞א לַמָּק֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ פֶּ֣רֶץ עֻזָּ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

Dovid was angered [with himself] concerning the breach of Uzoh and he called that place Peretz Uzoh until this day.


###### II Samuel 6:9

וַיִּרָ֥א דָוִ֛ד אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֵ֛יךְ יָב֥וֹא אֵלַ֖י אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָֽה׃

Dovid feared Adonoy on that day, He said, "How shall the Ark of Adonoy come to me."


###### II Samuel 6:10

וְלֹא־אָבָ֣ה דָוִ֗ד לְהָסִ֥יר אֵלָ֛יו אֶת־אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־עִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וַיַּטֵּ֣הוּ דָוִ֔ד בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד־אֱדֹ֖ם הַגִּתִּֽי׃

Dovid did not want to bring the Ark of Adonoy towards him, to the city of Dovid. Dovid carried it aside [to] the house of Oveid Edom the Gittite.


###### II Samuel 6:11

וַיֵּ֩שֶׁב֩ אֲר֨וֹן יְהֹוָ֜ה בֵּ֣ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם הַגִּתִּ֖י שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֖ם וְאֶת־כׇּל־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃

The Ark of Adonoy dwelled in the house of Oveid Edom the Gittite for three months, and Adonoy blessed Oveid Edom and his entire household.


###### II Samuel 6:12

וַיֻּגַּ֗ד לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִד֮ לֵאמֹר֒ בֵּרַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶת־בֵּ֨ית עֹבֵ֤ד אֱדֹם֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד וַיַּ֩עַל֩ אֶת־אֲר֨וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים מִבֵּ֨ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם עִ֥יר דָּוִ֖ד בְּשִׂמְחָֽה׃

It was told to King Dovid, saying, "Adonoy has blessed Oveid Edom and all that he has on account of the Ark of Elokim." Dovid went and brought up the Ark of Elokim from the house of Oveid Edom [to] the city of Dovid, with rejoicing.


###### II Samuel 6:13

וַיְהִ֗י כִּ֧י צָעֲד֛וּ נֹשְׂאֵ֥י אֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָ֖ה שִׁשָּׁ֣ה צְעָדִ֑ים וַיִּזְבַּ֥ח שׁ֖וֹר וּמְרִֽיא׃

When the carriers of the Ark of Adonoy stepped six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fattened oxen.


###### II Samuel 6:14

וְדָוִ֛ד מְכַרְכֵּ֥ר בְּכׇל־עֹ֖ז לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְדָוִ֕ד חָג֖וּר אֵפ֥וֹד בָּֽד׃

Dovid danced with all [his] strength before [the Ark of] Adonoy. Dovid was girded with a linen robe.


###### II Samuel 6:15

וְדָוִד֙ וְכׇל־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מַעֲלִ֖ים אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֑ה בִּתְרוּעָ֖ה וּבְק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָֽר׃

Dovid and all of the house of Yisroel brought up the Ark of Adonoy with shouting and with the sound of the Shofar.


###### II Samuel 6:16

וְהָיָה֙ אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה בָּ֖א עִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וּמִיכַ֨ל בַּת־שָׁא֜וּל נִשְׁקְפָ֣ה**׀** בְּעַ֣ד הַחַלּ֗וֹן וַתֵּ֨רֶא אֶת־הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ מְפַזֵּ֤ז וּמְכַרְכֵּר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וַתִּ֥בֶז ל֖וֹ בְּלִבָּֽהּ׃

**The Metsudah Tanach series, Lakewood, N.J:**
As the Ark of Adonoy came [to] the city of Dovid Michal, the daughter of Shaul was looking through the window. She saw king Dovid dancing and leaping before [the Ark of] Adonoy, and he was disgraced in her heart.


###### II Samuel 6:17

וַיָּבִ֜אוּ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֗ה וַיַּצִּ֤גוּ אֹתוֹ֙ בִּמְקוֹמ֔וֹ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָאֹ֔הֶל אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָטָה־ל֖וֹ דָּוִ֑ד וַיַּ֨עַל דָּוִ֥ד עֹל֛וֹת לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה וּשְׁלָמִֽים׃

They brought the Ark of Adonoy and they set it in its place in the tent that Dovid had spread out for it. Dovid brought up burnt offerings before Adonoy and also peace offerings.


###### II Samuel 6:18

וַיְכַ֣ל דָּוִ֔ד מֵהַעֲל֥וֹת הָעוֹלָ֖ה וְהַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֶת־הָעָ֔ם בְּשֵׁ֖ם יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

Dovid finished bringing up the burnt offering and the peace offerings and he blessed the people with the Name of Adonoy of Hosts.


###### II Samuel 6:19

וַיְחַלֵּ֨ק לְכׇל־הָעָ֜ם לְכׇל־הֲמ֣וֹן יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ לְמֵאִ֣ישׁ וְעַד־אִשָּׁה֒ לְאִ֗ישׁ חַלַּ֥ת לֶ֙חֶם֙ אַחַ֔ת וְאֶשְׁפָּ֣ר אֶחָ֔ד וַאֲשִׁישָׁ֖ה אֶחָ֑ת וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ כׇּל־הָעָ֖ם אִ֥ישׁ לְבֵיתֽוֹ׃

He distributed to all the people, to the whole multitude of Yisroel whether man or woman, for each person one loaf of bread, a portion of meat and a jug [of wine]. The people left, each person to his house.


###### II Samuel 6:20

וַיָּ֥שׇׁב דָּוִ֖ד לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶת־בֵּית֑וֹ{ס}וַתֵּצֵ֞א מִיכַ֤ל בַּת־שָׁאוּל֙ לִקְרַ֣את דָּוִ֔ד וַתֹּ֗אמֶר מַה־נִּכְבַּ֨ד הַיּ֜וֹם מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִגְלָ֤ה הַיּוֹם֙ לְעֵינֵי֙ אַמְה֣וֹת עֲבָדָ֔יו כְּהִגָּל֥וֹת נִגְל֖וֹת אַחַ֥ד הָרֵקִֽים׃

Dovid returned to bless his household. Michal, the daughter of Shaul went out to greet Dovid and she said, "How glorious is this day! The king of Yisroel revealed [himself] today [before] the eyes of the handmaidens of his servants as one of the riff-raff reveals [himself]."


###### II Samuel 6:21

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִד֮ אֶל־מִיכַל֒ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּחַר־בִּ֤י מֵֽאָבִיךְ֙ וּמִכׇּל־בֵּית֔וֹ לְצַוֺּ֨ת אֹתִ֥י נָגִ֛יד עַל־עַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְשִׂחַקְתִּ֖י לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

Dovid said to Michal, "Before Adonoy, Who has chosen me [over] your father and all his household, charging me to be ruler over the people of Adonoy, over Yisroel, I rejoiced before Adonoy.


###### II Samuel 6:22

וּנְקַלֹּ֤תִי עוֹד֙ מִזֹּ֔את וְהָיִ֥יתִי שָׁפָ֖ל בְּעֵינָ֑י וְעִם־הָֽאֲמָהוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֔רְתְּ עִמָּ֖ם אִכָּבֵֽדָה׃

[Had] I made light of myself even more then this, and lowered myself in my [own] eyes and with the handmaidens that you mentioned, I would be more honoured among them."


###### II Samuel 6:23

וּלְמִיכַל֙ בַּת־שָׁא֔וּל לֹא־הָ֥יָה לָ֖הּ יָ֑לֶד עַ֖ד י֥וֹם מוֹתָֽהּ׃{פ}

Michal, the daughter of Shaul had no child until the day of her death.
