כאן וכאן הובאה ההלכה, הלכה **מפורשת בלשונה** (שהרי שאלו עליה: ולמה **לא** אמר [בהוריות: פתר לה] כרבי יודה)²³, של ר' יוחנן ע"י **ר' אבהו**, אבל בב"מ לא ידעו אותה, ודקדקו תחילה ממעשה הקריעה של ר' יוחנן על ר' חנינה, שסברו שכל תלמודו היה ממנו, שרי יוחנן סובר כר' יהודה, ואח"כ פקפקו בזה, והביאו עובדא של ר' חייא בר בא, שממנה יוצא שלא היה כל תלמודו של ר' יוחנן ממנו, ואעפ"כ קרע עליו. הרי **שלא** ידעו כלל את ההלכה המפורשת של ר' יוחנן, אע"פ שמסר אותה בן **קיסרין**. וכן נמסרה בבבלי (ב"מ לג א) בשם "**ר' יצחק בר יוסף א"ר יוחנן**". ואולם העובדא של ר' יוחנן נמסרה בבבלי (מו"ק כד א) כך: "אמרו ליה לר' יוחנן נח נפשיה דר' חנינא קרע עליה **תליסר אצטלי מלתא** אמר **אזל גברא דהוה מסתפינא מיניה**" (ושם השיבו על השאלה מן "כל קרע שאינו בשעת חימום אינו קרע": שאני רבנן דכיון דכל שעתא וכו').

והנה לפניו בירוש' הוריות פ"ג ה"ג, מז סע"ד (וכן בסנהד' פ"ב, כ ע"ד) נמסרה עובדא זו של הקריעה בקשר אחר: כהן גדול פורם מלמטן וכו'. רבי לעזר בשם כהנא למעלן ("של ההדיוט") למעלן מקנה שפה למטן ("של כ"ג") למטן מקנה שפה. רבי יוחנן אמר למטן ממש. רבי יוחנן סליק למבקרה לרבי חנינה כד הוה גו איסטרטא שמע דדמך שלח ואייתי מנוי טבייא דשובתא ובזעון. רבי יוחנן פליג על דרבי יהודה בתרתין. ואתייא דרבי לעזר בשם כהנא כרבי יודה ("דלהלן"); אין כרבי יודה לא יפרום כל עיקר ("שאינו בפריעה ופרימה כל עיקר" לדברי ר' יהודה, בבלי יב סע"ב). לא אתייא דא אלא על אביו ועל אמו כדברי ר' מאיר דתני על כל המתים אינו מבדיל קנה שפה. אלא על אביו ועל אמו כדברי רבי מאיר. רבי יודה אומ' כל קרע שאינו מבדיל קנה שפה הרי זה קרע של תפלות. מאי כדון. חומר הוא בכהן גדול (שיהא) שאינו²⁴ מבדיל קנה שפה. ר' יוחנן "בזע" בגדים טובים של שבת לאו דווקא בבית־הצואר, שהרי לא היה לבוש בהם ור' יוחנן שימש "כהן גדול" בישראל, הוא סובר למטן ממש, וחולק על ר' יהודה בשנים: א) שר' יוחנן סובר שכהן גדול פורם וב) שקריעה בלא הבדלה קריעה היא (עי' ק"ע)²⁵. אבל ר' אלעזר סובר, כשמואל בבבלי, "כר' יהודה **בחדא** ופליג עליה בחדא" (בבלי שם).
