ר יוסי בר' יהודה ר' אלעזר בר' שמעון ור' מנחם בר' יוסי נקראים בכמה מקומות בבבלי "סתומתאה"¹ ("סתימתאה"), סָתוֹמְתַן, זאת אומרת **שכמה הלכות סתמון** ונסתמו (במשנתנו) על פיהם: ר' יוסי בר' יהודה סתימתאה **ור"א** בר' שמעון **סתימתאה** נמנו בין ד' ה"זקנים", עירובין לח ב²; **ר"א בר' שמעון**, אף בבכורות נא ב, למדרש־הלכה "דתני תנא קמיה דרב נחמן"³; כיו"ב בכורות ס ע"ב (ר' יוחנן): הא מני **ראב"ש** היא למדרש־הלכה החולק על ת"כ בחקותי שם. וכן חולין כט סע"ב–ל ע"א (רבב"ח א"ר יוחנן), מדרש־הלכה שחולק על ת"כ קדושים פ"א ג (ומשנת חולין).

ואמנם נוסח הספרים הישנים בכתובות שם היה: תנאי היא דתניא מקמץ זה בורסי ויש אומרים זה המקמץ צואת כלבים **ר' יוסי בר' יהודה אומר** המקמץ והמצרף נחושת והבורסי, שכ"ה בכ"י רומי ובשמ"ק בשם "מקצת ספרים": מקמץ זה בורסי ר' יוסי בר' יהודה אומר מקמץ צואת כלבים והמצרף וכו', וכיו"ב בכ"י מ': מקמץ זה בורסי ר' יוסי בר' יהודה אומר זה המקמץ צואת כלבים והמצרף וכו'. רש"י הגיה ע"פ התוס', וכתב: "והא דר' יוסי בר' יהודה מלתא אחריתי קָאמר" (עי' שמ"ק), מפני שחשב שדברי ריב"י נמשכים על "אימתי אמרו" וכו'; אבל "אימתי אמרו" הוא ענין חדש, ועל **כולן** אמרוֹ, ופירוש משנתנו הוא. ומכיון ש"הבורסי" של משנתנו **ר' יוסי בר' יהודה** הוא – וודאי שאף ה"מעשה בצידון בבורסי אחד" וכו', **ר' יוסי בר' יהודה** היא, וכן אנו מוצאים אותו מספר "מעשה בצידון" "והתירו לו חכמים" (גטין פ"ד מ"ז). ואמנם מצאתי בקטע א"פ¹⁴: **אמ' ר' יוסה** מעשה, והוא אף כאן ר' יוסי בר' יהודה.

בבבלי נח א הובאה הברייתא על הסיפא "היתה פושטתו וכו' ", אבל הברייתא שאחריה שם, מתאימה להלכה שלנו, ובוודאי שהפיסקא, כמו כמה פיסקאות שבבבלי מוטעית. בבבלי שם: אצל **חביריי**⁴⁹ **שבדרום**, אבל גם בתוס' מקואות: וכשבאתי אצל **חברי**.
