## Isaiah Chapter 13

###### Isaiah 13:1

מַשָּׂ֖א בָּבֶ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָזָ֔ה יְשַֽׁעְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־אָמֽוֹץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The burden of Bavel, which Yesha῾yahu the son of Amoż did see.


###### Isaiah 13:2

עַ֤ל הַר־נִשְׁפֶּה֙ שְֽׂאוּ־נֵ֔ס הָרִ֥ימוּ ק֖וֹל לָהֶ֑ם הָנִ֣יפוּ יָ֔ד וְיָבֹ֖אוּ פִּתְחֵ֥י נְדִיבִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Lift up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, wave the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.


###### Isaiah 13:3

אֲנִ֥י צִוֵּ֖יתִי לִמְקֻדָּשָׁ֑י גַּ֣ם קָרָ֤אתִי גִבּוֹרַי֙ לְאַפִּ֔י עַלִּיזֵ֖י גַּאֲוָתִֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my warriors for my anger, my proudly exalting ones.


###### Isaiah 13:4

ק֥וֹל הָמ֛וֹן בֶּהָרִ֖ים דְּמ֣וּת עַם־רָ֑ב ק֠וֹל שְׁא֞וֹן מַמְלְכ֤וֹת גּוֹיִם֙ נֶאֱסָפִ֔ים יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת מְפַקֵּ֖ד צְבָ֥א מִלְחָמָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts musters the host of the battle.


###### Isaiah 13:5

בָּאִ֛ים מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מֶרְחָ֖ק מִקְצֵ֣ה הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם יְהֹוָה֙ וּכְלֵ֣י זַעְמ֔וֹ לְחַבֵּ֖ל כׇּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.


###### Isaiah 13:6

הֵילִ֕ילוּ כִּ֥י קָר֖וֹב י֣וֹם יְהֹוָ֑ה כְּשֹׁ֖ד מִשַּׁדַּ֥י יָבֽוֹא׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Howl; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.


###### Isaiah 13:7

עַל־כֵּ֖ן כׇּל־יָדַ֣יִם תִּרְפֶּ֑ינָה וְכׇל־לְבַ֥ב אֱנ֖וֹשׁ יִמָּֽס׃

Therefore shall all hands be slack, and every man’s heart shall melt:


###### Isaiah 13:8

וְֽנִבְהָ֓לוּ**׀** צִירִ֤ים וַחֲבָלִים֙ יֹֽאחֵז֔וּן כַּיּוֹלֵדָ֖ה יְחִיל֑וּן אִ֤ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ יִתְמָ֔הוּ פְּנֵ֥י לְהָבִ֖ים פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall be amazed at one another; their faces shall be as flames.


###### Isaiah 13:9

הִנֵּ֤ה יוֹם־יְהֹוָה֙ בָּ֔א אַכְזָרִ֥י וְעֶבְרָ֖ה וַחֲר֣וֹן אָ֑ף לָשׂ֤וּם הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ לְשַׁמָּ֔ה וְחַטָּאֶ֖יהָ יַשְׁמִ֥יד מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behold, the day of the Lord comes, a day of cruelty, wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy its sinners from out of it.


###### Isaiah 13:10

כִּֽי־כוֹכְבֵ֤י הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וּכְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א יָהֵ֖לּוּ אוֹרָ֑ם חָשַׁ֤ךְ הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ בְּצֵאת֔וֹ וְיָרֵ֖חַ לֹא־יַגִּ֥יהַּ אוֹרֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the stars of heaven and its constellations shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not shed her light.


###### Isaiah 13:11

וּפָקַדְתִּ֤י עַל־תֵּבֵל֙ רָעָ֔ה וְעַל־רְשָׁעִ֖ים עֲוֺנָ֑ם וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ גְּא֣וֹן זֵדִ֔ים וְגַאֲוַ֥ת עָרִיצִ֖ים אַשְׁפִּֽיל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the tyrants.

אוֹקִ֥יר אֱנ֖וֹשׁ מִפָּ֑ז וְאָדָ֖ם מִכֶּ֥תֶם אוֹפִֽיר׃

I will make men more rare than fine gold; and mankind, than the pure gold of Ofir.

עַל־כֵּן֙ שָׁמַ֣יִם אַרְגִּ֔יז וְתִרְעַ֥שׁ הָאָ֖רֶץ מִמְּקוֹמָ֑הּ בְּעֶבְרַת֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וּבְי֖וֹם חֲר֥וֹן אַפּֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, by the wrath of the Lord of host, and on the day of his fierce anger.


###### Isaiah 13:14

וְהָיָה֙ כִּצְבִ֣י מֻדָּ֔ח וּכְצֹ֖אן וְאֵ֣ין מְקַבֵּ֑ץ אִ֤ישׁ אֶל־עַמּוֹ֙ יִפְנ֔וּ וְאִ֥ישׁ אֶל־אַרְצ֖וֹ יָנֽוּסוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall be like the outcast gazelle, and the sheep that no man takes up; they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.


###### Isaiah 13:15

כׇּל־הַנִּמְצָ֖א יִדָּקֵ֑ר וְכׇל־הַנִּסְפֶּ֖ה יִפּ֥וֹל בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is caught shall fall by the sword.


###### Isaiah 13:16

וְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֥ם יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ לְעֵינֵיהֶ֑ם יִשַּׁ֙סּוּ֙ בָּתֵּיהֶ֔ם וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם (תשגלנה) [תִּשָּׁכַֽבְנָה]׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.


###### Isaiah 13:17

הִנְנִ֛י מֵעִ֥יר עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם אֶת־מָדָ֑י אֲשֶׁר־כֶּ֙סֶף֙ לֹ֣א יַחְשֹׁ֔בוּ וְזָהָ֖ב לֹ֥א יַחְפְּצוּ־בֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behold, I will stir up the Maday against them, who shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.


###### Isaiah 13:18

וּקְשָׁת֖וֹת נְעָרִ֣ים תְּרַטַּ֑שְׁנָה וּפְרִי־בֶ֙טֶן֙ לֹ֣א יְרַחֵ֔מוּ עַל־בָּנִ֖ים לֹא־תָח֥וּס עֵינָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.


###### Isaiah 13:19

וְהָיְתָ֤ה בָבֶל֙ צְבִ֣י מַמְלָכ֔וֹת תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת גְּא֣וֹן כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים כְּמַהְפֵּכַ֣ת אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת־סְדֹ֖ם וְאֶת־עֲמֹרָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And Bavel, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the pride of the Kasdim, shall be as when God overthrew Sedom and ῾Amora.


###### Isaiah 13:20

לֹא־תֵשֵׁ֣ב לָנֶ֔צַח וְלֹ֥א תִשְׁכֹּ֖ן עַד־דּ֣וֹר וָד֑וֹר וְלֹא־יַהֵ֥ל שָׁם֙ עֲרָבִ֔י וְרֹעִ֖ים לֹא־יַרְבִּ֥צוּ שָֽׁם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the ῾Aravi pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their flock lie down there.


###### Isaiah 13:21

וְרָבְצוּ־שָׁ֣ם צִיִּ֔ים וּמָלְא֥וּ בָתֵּיהֶ֖ם אֹחִ֑ים וְשָׁ֤כְנוּ שָׁם֙ בְּנ֣וֹת יַעֲנָ֔ה וּשְׂעִירִ֖ים יְרַקְּדוּ־שָֽׁם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of owls; and ostriches shall dwell there, and the scops owl shall hop about there.


###### Isaiah 13:22

וְעָנָ֤ה אִיִּים֙ בְּאַלְמְנוֹתָ֔יו וְתַנִּ֖ים בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי עֹ֑נֶג וְקָר֤וֹב לָבוֹא֙ עִתָּ֔הּ וְיָמֶ֖יהָ לֹ֥א יִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And jackals shall cry in their castles, and wild dogs in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near at hand, and her days shall not be prolonged.
