## Isaiah Chapter 16

###### Isaiah 16:1

שִׁלְחוּ־כַ֥ר מֹשֵֽׁל־אֶ֖רֶץ מִסֶּ֣לַע מִדְבָּ֑רָה אֶל־הַ֖ר בַּת־צִיּֽוֹן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Send the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, to the mount of the daughter of Żiyyon.


###### Isaiah 16:2

וְהָיָ֥ה כְעוֹף־נוֹדֵ֖ד קֵ֣ן מְשֻׁלָּ֑ח תִּֽהְיֶ֙ינָה֙ בְּנ֣וֹת מוֹאָ֔ב מַעְבָּרֹ֖ת לְאַרְנֽוֹן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird, as a scattered nest, the daughters of Mo᾽av shall be at the fords of Arnon.


###### Isaiah 16:3

(הביאו) [הָבִ֤יאִי] עֵצָה֙ עֲשׂ֣וּ פְלִילָ֔ה שִׁ֧יתִי כַלַּ֛יִל צִלֵּ֖ךְ בְּת֣וֹךְ צׇהֳרָ֑יִם סַתְּרִי֙ נִדָּחִ֔ים נֹדֵ֖ד אַל־תְּגַלִּֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; betray not the wanderer.


###### Isaiah 16:4

יָג֤וּרוּ בָךְ֙ נִדָּחַ֔י מוֹאָ֛ב הֱוִי־סֵ֥תֶר לָ֖מוֹ מִפְּנֵ֣י שׁוֹדֵ֑ד כִּֽי־אָפֵ֤ס הַמֵּץ֙ כָּ֣לָה שֹׁ֔ד תַּ֥מּוּ רֹמֵ֖ס מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Let my outcasts, the outcasts of Mo᾽av, dwell with thee; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

וְהוּכַ֤ן בַּחֶ֙סֶד֙ כִּסֵּ֔א וְיָשַׁ֥ב עָלָ֛יו בֶּאֱמֶ֖ת בְּאֹ֣הֶל דָּוִ֑ד שֹׁפֵ֛ט וְדֹרֵ֥שׁ מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּמְהִ֥ר צֶֽדֶק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And in mercy a throne was established: and he sat upon it in truthfulness in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and quick to do righteousness.


###### Isaiah 16:6

שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ גְאוֹן־מוֹאָ֖ב גֵּ֣א מְאֹ֑ד גַּאֲוָת֧וֹ וּגְאוֹנ֛וֹ וְעֶבְרָת֖וֹ לֹא־כֵ֥ן בַּדָּֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
We have heard of the pride of Mo᾽av; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: false are his pratings.


###### Isaiah 16:7

לָכֵ֗ן יְיֵלִ֥יל מוֹאָ֛ב לְמוֹאָ֖ב כֻּלֹּ֣ה יְיֵלִ֑יל לַאֲשִׁישֵׁ֧י קִיר־חֲרֶ֛שֶׂת תֶּהְגּ֖וּ אַךְ־נְכָאִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore shall Mo᾽av howl for Mo᾽av, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Qir-ĥareset shall you mourn; surely they are stricken.


###### Isaiah 16:8

כִּ֣י שַׁדְמוֹת֩ חֶשְׁבּ֨וֹן אֻמְלָ֜ל גֶּ֣פֶן שִׂבְמָ֗ה בַּעֲלֵ֤י גוֹיִם֙ הָלְמ֣וּ שְׂרוּקֶּ֔יהָ עַד־יַעְזֵ֥ר נָגָ֖עוּ תָּ֣עוּ מִדְבָּ֑ר שְׁלֻ֣חוֹתֶ֔יהָ נִטְּשׁ֖וּ עָ֥בְרוּ יָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the fields of Ḥeshbon languish, and the vine of Sivma: have broken down its choice branches, they reached to Ya῾zer, they wandered into the wilderness: her offshoots were stretched out, they went over the sea.

עַל־כֵּ֡ן אֶבְכֶּ֞ה בִּבְכִ֤י יַעְזֵר֙ גֶּ֣פֶן שִׂבְמָ֔ה אֲרַיָּ֙וֶךְ֙ דִּמְעָתִ֔י חֶשְׁבּ֖וֹן וְאֶלְעָלֵ֑ה כִּ֧י עַל־קֵיצֵ֛ךְ וְעַל־קְצִירֵ֖ךְ הֵידָ֥ד נָפָֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Ya῾zer the vine of Sivma: I will water thee with my tears, O Ḥeshbon, and ᾽El῾ale: for on thy summer fruits and on thy harvest the battle cry has fallen.


###### Isaiah 16:10

וְנֶאֱסַ֨ף שִׂמְחָ֤ה וָגִיל֙ מִן־הַכַּרְמֶ֔ל וּבַכְּרָמִ֥ים לֹֽא־יְרֻנָּ֖ן לֹ֣א יְרֹעָ֑ע יַ֗יִן בַּיְקָבִ֛ים לֹא־יִדְרֹ֥ךְ הַדֹּרֵ֖ךְ הֵידָ֥ד הִשְׁבַּֽתִּי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made shouting at the vintage to cease.

עַל־כֵּן֙ מֵעַ֣י לְמוֹאָ֔ב כַּכִּנּ֖וֹר יֶהֱמ֑וּ וְקִרְבִּ֖י לְקִ֥יר חָֽרֶשׂ׃

Wherefore my heart shall moan like a lyre for Mo᾽av, and my inward parts for Qir-ĥeres.


###### Isaiah 16:12

וְהָיָ֧ה כִֽי־נִרְאָ֛ה כִּֽי־נִלְאָ֥ה מוֹאָ֖ב עַל־הַבָּמָ֑ה וּבָ֧א אֶל־מִקְדָּשׁ֛וֹ לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל וְלֹ֥א יוּכָֽל׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Mo᾽av is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.


###### Isaiah 16:13

זֶ֣ה הַדָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶל־מוֹאָ֖ב מֵאָֽז׃

This is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning Mo᾽av long ago.


###### Isaiah 16:14

וְעַתָּ֗ה דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהֹוָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ בְּשָׁלֹ֤שׁ שָׁנִים֙ כִּשְׁנֵ֣י שָׂכִ֔יר וְנִקְלָה֙ כְּב֣וֹד מוֹאָ֔ב בְּכֹ֖ל הֶהָמ֣וֹן הָרָ֑ב וּשְׁאָ֥ר מְעַ֛ט מִזְעָ֖ר ל֥וֹא כַבִּֽיר׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
But now the Lord has spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of a hireling, and the glory of Mo᾽av shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and powerless.
