## Isaiah Chapter 17

###### Isaiah 17:1

מַשָּׂ֖א דַּמָּ֑שֶׂק הִנֵּ֤ה דַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ מוּסָ֣ר מֵעִ֔יר וְהָיְתָ֖ה מְעִ֥י מַפָּלָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The burden of Dammeseq. Behold, Dammeseq is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a heap of ruins.


###### Isaiah 17:2

עֲזֻב֖וֹת עָרֵ֣י עֲרֹעֵ֑ר לַעֲדָרִ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ינָה וְרָבְצ֖וּ וְאֵ֥ין מַחֲרִֽיד׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The cities of ῾Aro῾er are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.


###### Isaiah 17:3

וְנִשְׁבַּ֤ת מִבְצָר֙ מֵאֶפְרַ֔יִם וּמַמְלָכָ֥ה מִדַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק וּשְׁאָ֣ר אֲרָ֑ם כִּכְב֤וֹד בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יִֽהְי֔וּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The fortress also shall cease from Efrayim, and the kingdom from Dammeseq, and the remnant of Aram shall be as the glory of the children of Yisra᾽el, says the Lord of hosts.


###### Isaiah 17:4

וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִדַּ֖ל כְּב֣וֹד יַעֲקֹ֑ב וּמִשְׁמַ֥ן בְּשָׂר֖וֹ יֵרָזֶֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And on that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Ya῾aqov shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall become lean.


###### Isaiah 17:5

וְהָיָ֗ה כֶּֽאֱסֹף֙ קָצִ֣יר קָמָ֔ה וּזְרֹע֖וֹ שִׁבֳּלִ֣ים יִקְצ֑וֹר וְהָיָ֛ה כִּמְלַקֵּ֥ט שִׁבֳּלִ֖ים בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall be as when the harvester gathers the standing corn, and reaps the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathers ears in the valley of Refa᾽im.


###### Isaiah 17:6

וְנִשְׁאַר־בּ֤וֹ עֽוֹלֵלֹת֙ כְּנֹ֣קֶף זַ֔יִת שְׁנַ֧יִם שְׁלֹשָׁ֛ה גַּרְגְּרִ֖ים בְּרֹ֣אשׁ אָמִ֑יר אַרְבָּעָ֣ה חֲמִשָּׁ֗ה בִּסְעִפֶ֙יהָ֙ פֹּֽרִיָּ֔ה נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And gleanings shall be left of him, as in the beating of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in its fruitful branches, says the Lord God of Yisra᾽el.


###### Isaiah 17:7

בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִשְׁעֶ֥ה הָאָדָ֖ם עַל־עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ וְעֵינָ֕יו אֶל־קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have regard to the Holy One of Yisra᾽el.


###### Isaiah 17:8

וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁעֶ֔ה אֶל־הַֽמִּזְבְּח֖וֹת מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדָ֑יו וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֤וּ אֶצְבְּעֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יִרְאֶ֔ה וְהָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים וְהָחַמָּנִֽים׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall he regard that which his fingers have made, either the asherim or the sun images.


###### Isaiah 17:9

בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִהְי֣וּ**׀** עָרֵ֣י מָעוּזּ֗וֹ כַּעֲזוּבַ֤ת הַחֹ֙רֶשׁ֙ וְהָ֣אָמִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָֽזְב֔וּ מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהָיְתָ֖ה שְׁמָמָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
On that day shall his strong cities be as the forsaken portion of the thicket and the uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Yisra᾽el: and there shall be desolation.


###### Isaiah 17:10

כִּ֤י שָׁכַ֙חַתְּ֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֔ךְ וְצ֥וּר מָעֻזֵּ֖ךְ לֹ֣א זָכָ֑רְתְּ עַל־כֵּ֗ן תִּטְּעִי֙ נִטְעֵ֣י נַעֲמָנִ֔ים וּזְמֹ֥רַת זָ֖ר תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃

Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore though thou plant pleasant plants, and set it with slips of a strange god:


###### Isaiah 17:11

בְּי֤וֹם נִטְעֵךְ֙ תְּשַׂגְשֵׂ֔גִי וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר זַרְעֵ֣ךְ תַּפְרִ֑יחִי נֵ֥ד קָצִ֛יר בְּי֥וֹם נַחֲלָ֖ה וּכְאֵ֥ב אָנֽוּשׁ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
though in the day of thy planting thou make it grow, and in the morning thou make thy seed to flourish: yet the harvest shall disappear in the day of grief and of desperate pain.


###### Isaiah 17:12

ה֗וֹי הֲמוֹן֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כַּהֲמ֥וֹת יַמִּ֖ים יֶהֱמָי֑וּן וּשְׁא֣וֹן לְאֻמִּ֔ים כִּשְׁא֛וֹן מַ֥יִם כַּבִּירִ֖ים יִשָּׁאֽוּן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Woe to the multitude of many people, who make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!


###### Isaiah 17:13

לְאֻמִּ֗ים כִּשְׁא֞וֹן מַ֤יִם רַבִּים֙ יִשָּׁא֔וּן וְגָ֥עַר בּ֖וֹ וְנָ֣ס מִמֶּרְחָ֑ק וְרֻדַּ֗ף כְּמֹ֤ץ הָרִים֙ לִפְנֵי־ר֔וּחַ וּכְגַלְגַּ֖ל לִפְנֵ֥י סוּפָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but he shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like whirling dust before the storm.


###### Isaiah 17:14

לְעֵ֥ת עֶ֙רֶב֙ וְהִנֵּ֣ה בַלָּהָ֔ה בְּטֶ֥רֶם בֹּ֖קֶר אֵינֶ֑נּוּ זֶ֚ה חֵ֣לֶק שׁוֹסֵ֔ינוּ וְגוֹרָ֖ל לְבֹזְזֵֽינוּ׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And behold at evening, trouble; and before the morning they are no more. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
