## Isaiah Chapter 24

###### Isaiah 24:1

הִנֵּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה בּוֹקֵ֥ק הָאָ֖רֶץ וּבֽוֹלְקָ֑הּ וְעִוָּ֣ה פָנֶ֔יהָ וְהֵפִ֖יץ יֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad its inhabitants.


###### Isaiah 24:2

וְהָיָ֤ה כָעָם֙ כַּכֹּהֵ֔ן כַּעֶ֙בֶד֙ כַּֽאדֹנָ֔יו כַּשִּׁפְחָ֖ה כַּגְּבִרְתָּ֑הּ כַּקּוֹנֶה֙ כַּמּוֹכֵ֔ר כַּמַּלְוֶה֙ כַּלֹּוֶ֔ה כַּנֹּשֶׁ֕ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר נֹשֶׁ֥א בֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower, as with the creditor, so with the debtor.


###### Isaiah 24:3

הִבּ֧וֹק׀תִּבּ֛וֹק הָאָ֖רֶץ וְהִבּ֣וֹז׀תִּבֹּ֑ז כִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה דִּבֶּ֖ר אֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord has spoken this word.


###### Isaiah 24:4

אָבְלָ֤ה נָֽבְלָה֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ אֻמְלְלָ֥ה נָבְלָ֖ה תֵּבֵ֑ל אֻמְלָ֖לוּ מְר֥וֹם עַם־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

The earth mourns and fades away, the world languishes and fades away, the lofty people of the earth languish.


###### Isaiah 24:5

וְהָאָ֥רֶץ חָנְפָ֖ה תַּ֣חַת יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ כִּֽי־עָבְר֤וּ תוֹרֹת֙ חָ֣לְפוּ חֹ֔ק הֵפֵ֖רוּ בְּרִ֥ית עוֹלָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The earth also is defiled under its inhabitants; because they have transgressed the Torot, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.


###### Isaiah 24:6

עַל־כֵּ֗ן אָלָה֙ אָ֣כְלָה אֶ֔רֶץ וַֽיֶּאְשְׁמ֖וּ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי בָ֑הּ עַל־כֵּ֗ן חָרוּ֙ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי אֶ֔רֶץ וְנִשְׁאַ֥ר אֱנ֖וֹשׁ מִזְעָֽר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore has a curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are parched, and few men left.


###### Isaiah 24:7

אָבַ֥ל תִּיר֖וֹשׁ אֻמְלְלָה־גָ֑פֶן נֶאֶנְח֖וּ כׇּל־שִׂמְחֵי־לֵֽב׃

The new wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merryhearted do sigh.


###### Isaiah 24:8

שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ תֻּפִּ֔ים חָדַ֖ל שְׁא֣וֹן עַלִּיזִ֑ים שָׁבַ֖ת מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ כִּנּֽוֹר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The mirth of tambourines ceases, the noise of them that rejoice ends, the joy of the lyre is stilled.


###### Isaiah 24:9

בַּשִּׁ֖יר לֹ֣א יִשְׁתּוּ־יָ֑יִן יֵמַ֥ר שֵׁכָ֖ר לְשֹׁתָֽיו׃

They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.


###### Isaiah 24:10

נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה קִרְיַת־תֹּ֑הוּ סֻגַּ֥ר כׇּל־בַּ֖יִת מִבּֽוֹא׃

The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.


###### Isaiah 24:11

צְוָחָ֥ה עַל־הַיַּ֖יִן בַּחוּצ֑וֹת עָֽרְבָה֙ כׇּל־שִׂמְחָ֔ה גָּלָ֖ה מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.


###### Isaiah 24:12

נִשְׁאַ֥ר בָּעִ֖יר שַׁמָּ֑ה וּשְׁאִיָּ֖ה יֻכַּת־שָֽׁעַר׃

In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

כִּ֣י כֹ֥ה יִֽהְיֶ֛ה בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעַמִּ֑ים כְּנֹ֣קֶף זַ֔יִת כְּעוֹלֵלֹ֖ת אִם־כָּלָ֥ה בָצִֽיר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, even as the beating of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.


###### Isaiah 24:14

הֵ֛מָּה יִשְׂא֥וּ קוֹלָ֖ם יָרֹ֑נּוּ בִּגְא֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה צָהֲל֖וּ מִיָּֽם׃

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; for the majesty of the Lord shall they shout more than at the sea.


###### Isaiah 24:15

עַל־כֵּ֥ן בָּאֻרִ֖ים כַּבְּד֣וּ יְהֹוָ֑ה בְּאִיֵּ֣י הַיָּ֔ם שֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Wherefore glorify the Lord in the regions of light, even the name of the Lord God of Yisra᾽el in the isles of the sea.


###### Isaiah 24:16

מִכְּנַ֨ף הָאָ֜רֶץ זְמִרֹ֤ת שָׁמַ֙עְנוּ֙ צְבִ֣י לַצַּדִּ֔יק וָאֹמַ֛ר רָזִי־לִ֥י רָֽזִי־לִ֖י א֣וֹי לִ֑י בֹּגְדִ֣ים בָּגָ֔דוּ וּבֶ֥גֶד בּוֹגְדִ֖ים בָּגָֽדוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! traitors have dealt treacherously; traitors have dealt very treacherously.


###### Isaiah 24:17

פַּ֥חַד וָפַ֖חַת וָפָ֑ח עָלֶ֖יךָ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

Fear, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the land.


###### Isaiah 24:18

וְ֠הָיָ֠ה הַנָּ֞ס מִקּ֤וֹל הַפַּ֙חַד֙ יִפֹּ֣ל אֶל־הַפַּ֔חַת וְהָֽעוֹלֶה֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַפַּ֔חַת יִלָּכֵ֖ד בַּפָּ֑ח כִּֽי־אֲרֻבּ֤וֹת מִמָּרוֹם֙ נִפְתָּ֔חוּ וַֽיִּרְעֲשׁ֖וּ מ֥וֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass, that he who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that comes up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the trap: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.


###### Isaiah 24:19

רֹ֥עָה הִֽתְרֹעֲעָ֖ה הָאָ֑רֶץ פּ֤וֹר הִֽתְפּוֹרְרָה֙ אֶ֔רֶץ מ֥וֹט הִֽתְמוֹטְטָ֖ה אָֽרֶץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth crumbles away, the earth is violently shaken.


###### Isaiah 24:20

נ֣וֹעַ תָּנ֤וּעַ אֶ֙רֶץ֙ כַּשִּׁכּ֔וֹר וְהִֽתְנוֹדְדָ֖ה כַּמְּלוּנָ֑ה וְכָבַ֤ד עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ פִּשְׁעָ֔הּ וְנָפְלָ֖ה וְלֹא־תֹסִ֥יף קֽוּם׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a frail hut; and its transgression is heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.


###### Isaiah 24:21

וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִפְקֹ֧ד יְהֹוָ֛ה עַל־צְבָ֥א הַמָּר֖וֹם בַּמָּר֑וֹם וְעַל־מַלְכֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָ֖ה עַל־הָאֲדָמָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass on that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.


###### Isaiah 24:22

וְאֻסְּפ֨וּ אֲסֵפָ֤ה אַסִּיר֙ עַל־בּ֔וֹר וְסֻגְּר֖וּ עַל־מַסְגֵּ֑ר וּמֵרֹ֥ב יָמִ֖ים יִפָּקֵֽדוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be punished.


###### Isaiah 24:23

וְחָֽפְרָה֙ הַלְּבָנָ֔ה וּבוֹשָׁ֖ה הַחַמָּ֑ה כִּֽי־מָלַ֞ךְ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת בְּהַ֤ר צִיּוֹן֙ וּבִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְנֶ֥גֶד זְקֵנָ֖יו כָּבֽוֹד׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Żiyyon, and in Yerushalayim, and before his elders will be his glory.
