## Isaiah Chapter 3

###### Isaiah 3:1

כִּי֩ הִנֵּ֨ה הָאָד֜וֹן יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת מֵסִ֤יר מִירוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ וּמִ֣יהוּדָ֔ה מַשְׁעֵ֖ן וּמַשְׁעֵנָ֑ה כֹּ֚ל מִשְׁעַן־לֶ֔חֶם וְכֹ֖ל מִשְׁעַן־מָֽיִם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For, behold, the Master, the Lord of hosts, takes away from Yerushalayim and from Yehuda the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,


###### Isaiah 3:2

גִּבּ֖וֹר וְאִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֑ה שׁוֹפֵ֥ט וְנָבִ֖יא וְקֹסֵ֥ם וְזָקֵֽן׃

the mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder,


###### Isaiah 3:3

שַׂר־חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים וּנְשׂ֣וּא פָנִ֑ים וְיוֹעֵ֛ץ וַחֲכַ֥ם חֲרָשִׁ֖ים וּנְב֥וֹן לָֽחַשׁ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
the captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.


###### Isaiah 3:4

וְנָתַתִּ֥י נְעָרִ֖ים שָׂרֵיהֶ֑ם וְתַעֲלוּלִ֖ים יִמְשְׁלוּ־בָֽם׃

And I will make youngsters their princes, and babes shall rule over them.


###### Isaiah 3:5

וְנִגַּ֣שׂ הָעָ֔ם אִ֥ישׁ בְּאִ֖ישׁ וְאִ֣ישׁ בְּרֵעֵ֑הוּ יִרְהֲב֗וּ הַנַּ֙עַר֙ בַּזָּקֵ֔ן וְהַנִּקְלֶ֖ה בַּנִּכְבָּֽד׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the elder, and the base against the honourable.


###### Isaiah 3:6

כִּי־יִתְפֹּ֨שׂ אִ֤ישׁ בְּאָחִיו֙ בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔יו שִׂמְלָ֣ה לְכָ֔ה קָצִ֖ין תִּֽהְיֶה־לָּ֑נוּ וְהַמַּכְשֵׁלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽךָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:


###### Isaiah 3:7

יִשָּׂא֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַה֤וּא׀לֵאמֹר֙ לֹא־אֶהְיֶ֣ה חֹבֵ֔שׁ וּבְבֵיתִ֕י אֵ֥ין לֶ֖חֶם וְאֵ֣ין שִׂמְלָ֑ה לֹ֥א תְשִׂימֻ֖נִי קְצִ֥ין עָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
in that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.


###### Isaiah 3:8

כִּ֤י כָֽשְׁלָה֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וִיהוּדָ֖ה נָפָ֑ל כִּֽי־לְשׁוֹנָ֤ם וּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶם֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֔ה לַמְר֖וֹת עֵנֵ֥י כְבוֹדֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For Yerushalayim is ruined, and Yehuda is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.


###### Isaiah 3:9

הַכָּרַ֤ת פְּנֵיהֶם֙ עָ֣נְתָה בָּ֔ם וְחַטָּאתָ֛ם כִּסְדֹ֥ם הִגִּ֖ידוּ לֹ֣א כִחֵ֑דוּ א֣וֹי לְנַפְשָׁ֔ם כִּי־גָמְל֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם רָעָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The show of their countenance witnesses against them; and they declare their sin as Sedom, they cannot hide it. Woe to their soul! for they have requited evil to themselves.


###### Isaiah 3:10

אִמְר֥וּ צַדִּ֖יק כִּי־ט֑וֹב כִּֽי־פְרִ֥י מַעַלְלֵיהֶ֖ם יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃

Say of the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.


###### Isaiah 3:11

א֖וֹי לְרָשָׁ֣ע רָ֑ע כִּֽי־גְמ֥וּל יָדָ֖יו יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃

Alas! it shall be ill with the wicked: for according to the deserving of his hands shall be done to him.

עַמִּי֙ נֹגְשָׂ֣יו מְעוֹלֵ֔ל וְנָשִׁ֖ים מָ֣שְׁלוּ ב֑וֹ עַמִּי֙ מְאַשְּׁרֶ֣יךָ מַתְעִ֔ים וְדֶ֥רֶךְ אֹרְחֹתֶ֖יךָ בִּלֵּֽעוּ׃{פ}

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.


###### Isaiah 3:13

נִצָּ֥ב לָרִ֖יב יְהֹוָ֑ה וְעֹמֵ֖ד לָדִ֥ין עַמִּֽים׃

The Lord stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people.


###### Isaiah 3:14

יְהֹוָה֙ בְּמִשְׁפָּ֣ט יָב֔וֹא עִם־זִקְנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹ וְשָׂרָ֑יו וְאַתֶּם֙ בִּעַרְתֶּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔רֶם גְּזֵלַ֥ת הֶעָנִ֖י בְּבָתֵּיכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and its princes, saying, It is you who have eaten up the vineyard; the robbery of the poor is in your houses.


###### Isaiah 3:15

(מלכם) [מַה־לָּכֶם֙] תְּדַכְּא֣וּ עַמִּ֔י וּפְנֵ֥י עֲנִיִּ֖ים תִּטְחָ֑נוּ נְאֻם־אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִ֖ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
What mean you by crushing my people to pieces, and grinding the faces of the poor? says the Lord God of hosts.


###### Isaiah 3:16

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָ֗ה יַ֚עַן כִּ֤י גָֽבְהוּ֙ בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֔וֹן וַתֵּלַ֙כְנָה֙ (נטוות) [נְטוּי֣וֹת] גָּר֔וֹן וּֽמְשַׂקְּר֖וֹת עֵינָ֑יִם הָל֤וֹךְ וְטָפֹף֙ תֵּלַ֔כְנָה וּבְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם תְּעַכַּֽסְנָה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Moreover the Lord says, Because the daughters of Żiyyon are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and ogling eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:


###### Isaiah 3:17

וְשִׂפַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָ֔י קׇדְקֹ֖ד בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֑וֹן וַיהֹוָ֖ה פׇּתְהֵ֥ן יְעָרֶֽה׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Żiyyon, and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts.


###### Isaiah 3:18

בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יָסִ֣יר אֲדֹנָ֗י אֵ֣ת תִּפְאֶ֧רֶת הָעֲכָסִ֛ים וְהַשְּׁבִיסִ֖ים וְהַשַּׂהֲרֹנִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of the anklets, and the tiaras, and the necklaces,


###### Isaiah 3:19

הַנְּטִפ֥וֹת וְהַשֵּׁיר֖וֹת וְהָרְעָלֽוֹת׃

the eardrops, and the bracelets, and the scarves,

הַפְּאֵרִ֤ים וְהַצְּעָדוֹת֙ וְהַקִּשֻּׁרִ֔ים וּבָתֵּ֥י הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ וְהַלְּחָשִֽׁים׃

the bonnets, and the armbands, and the belts, and the perfume boxes, and the amulets,

הַטַּבָּע֖וֹת וְנִזְמֵ֥י הָאָֽף׃

the rings, and nose ornaments,


###### Isaiah 3:22

הַמַּֽחֲלָצוֹת֙ וְהַמַּ֣עֲטָפ֔וֹת וְהַמִּטְפָּח֖וֹת וְהָחֲרִיטִֽים׃

the cloaks, and the mantles, and the gowns, and the handbags,


###### Isaiah 3:23

וְהַגִּלְיֹנִים֙ וְהַסְּדִינִ֔ים וְהַצְּנִיפ֖וֹת וְהָרְדִידִֽים׃

the gauze, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the veils.


###### Isaiah 3:24

וְהָיָה֩ תַ֨חַת בֹּ֜שֶׂם מַ֣ק יִֽהְיֶ֗ה וְתַ֨חַת חֲגוֹרָ֤ה נִקְפָּה֙ וְתַ֨חַת מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה מִקְשֶׁה֙ קׇרְחָ֔ה וְתַ֥חַת פְּתִיגִ֖יל מַחֲגֹ֣רֶת שָׂ֑ק כִּי־תַ֖חַת יֹֽפִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass, that instead of a sweet smell there shall be a stench; and instead of a girdle a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a fine dress a girding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, a brand.


###### Isaiah 3:25

מְתַ֖יִךְ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֑לוּ וּגְבוּרָתֵ֖ךְ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war,


###### Isaiah 3:26

וְאָנ֥וּ וְאָבְל֖וּ פְּתָחֶ֑יהָ וְנִקָּ֖תָה לָאָ֥רֶץ תֵּשֵֽׁב׃

and her gates shall both lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
