## Isaiah Chapter 34

###### Isaiah 34:1

קִרְב֤וּ גוֹיִם֙ לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים הַקְשִׁ֑יבוּ תִּשְׁמַ֤ע הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ וּמְלֹאָ֔הּ תֵּבֵ֖ל וְכׇל־צֶאֱצָאֶֽיהָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Come near, O nations, to hear; and hearken, O people: let the earth hear, and all that is in it; the world, and all things that come out of it.


###### Isaiah 34:2

כִּ֣י קֶ֤צֶף לַֽיהֹוָה֙ עַל־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְחֵמָ֖ה עַל־כׇּל־צְבָאָ֑ם הֶחֱרִימָ֖ם נְתָנָ֥ם לַטָּֽבַח׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the Lord has indignation against all the nations, and fury against all their armies: he has utterly destroyed them, he has delivered them to the slaughter.


###### Isaiah 34:3

וְחַלְלֵיהֶ֣ם יֻשְׁלָ֔כוּ וּפִגְרֵיהֶ֖ם יַעֲלֶ֣ה בׇאְשָׁ֑ם וְנָמַ֥סּוּ הָרִ֖ים מִדָּמָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stench shall come up out of their carcasses, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.


###### Isaiah 34:4

וְנָמַ֙קּוּ֙ כׇּל־צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְנָגֹ֥לּוּ כַסֵּ֖פֶר הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְכׇל־צְבָאָ֣ם יִבּ֔וֹל כִּנְבֹ֤ל עָלֶה֙ מִגֶּ֔פֶן וּכְנֹבֶ֖לֶת מִתְּאֵנָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And all the host of heaven shall rot away, and the heavens shall be rolled together like a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.


###### Isaiah 34:5

כִּֽי־רִוְּתָ֥ה בַשָּׁמַ֖יִם חַרְבִּ֑י הִנֵּה֙ עַל־אֱד֣וֹם תֵּרֵ֔ד וְעַל־עַ֥ם חֶרְמִ֖י לְמִשְׁפָּֽט׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For my sword is sated in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.


###### Isaiah 34:6

חֶ֣רֶב לַיהֹוָ֞ה מָלְאָ֥ה דָם֙ הֻדַּ֣שְׁנָה מֵחֵ֔לֶב מִדַּ֤ם כָּרִים֙ וְעַתּוּדִ֔ים מֵחֵ֖לֶב כִּלְי֣וֹת אֵילִ֑ים כִּ֣י זֶ֤בַח לַֽיהֹוָה֙ בְּבׇצְרָ֔ה וְטֶ֥בַח גָּד֖וֹל בְּאֶ֥רֶץ אֱדֽוֹם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness: with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the Lord has a sacrifice in Bożra, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.


###### Isaiah 34:7

וְיָרְד֤וּ רְאֵמִים֙ עִמָּ֔ם וּפָרִ֖ים עִם־אַבִּירִ֑ים וְרִוְּתָ֤ה אַרְצָם֙ מִדָּ֔ם וַעֲפָרָ֖ם מֵחֵ֥לֶב יְדֻשָּֽׁן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And wild oxen shall come down with them, and bullocks with bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.


###### Isaiah 34:8

כִּ֛י י֥וֹם נָקָ֖ם לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה שְׁנַ֥ת שִׁלּוּמִ֖ים לְרִ֥יב צִיּֽוֹן׃

For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the cause of Żiyyon.


###### Isaiah 34:9

וְנֶהֶפְכ֤וּ נְחָלֶ֙יהָ֙ לְזֶ֔פֶת וַעֲפָרָ֖הּ לְגׇפְרִ֑ית וְהָיְתָ֣ה אַרְצָ֔הּ לְזֶ֖פֶת בֹּעֵרָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And its streams shall be turned into pitch, and its dust into brimstone, and its land shall become burning pitch.


###### Isaiah 34:10

לַ֤יְלָה וְיוֹמָם֙ לֹ֣א תִכְבֶּ֔ה לְעוֹלָ֖ם יַעֲלֶ֣ה עֲשָׁנָ֑הּ מִדּ֤וֹר לָדוֹר֙ תֶּחֱרָ֔ב לְנֵ֣צַח נְצָחִ֔ים אֵ֥ין עֹבֵ֖ר בָּֽהּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
It shall not be quenched night or day; its smoke shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.


###### Isaiah 34:11

וִירֵשׁ֙וּהָ֙ קָאַ֣ת וְקִפּ֔וֹד וְיַנְשׁ֥וֹף וְעֹרֵ֖ב יִשְׁכְּנוּ־בָ֑הּ וְנָטָ֥ה עָלֶ֛יהָ קַֽו־תֹֿ֖הוּ וְאַבְנֵי־בֹֽהוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
But wild birds of night shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.


###### Isaiah 34:12

חֹרֶ֥יהָ וְאֵֽין־שָׁ֖ם מְלוּכָ֣ה יִקְרָ֑אוּ וְכׇל־שָׂרֶ֖יהָ יִ֥הְיוּ אָֽפֶס׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.


###### Isaiah 34:13

וְעָלְתָ֤ה אַרְמְנֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ סִירִ֔ים קִמּ֥וֹשׂ וָח֖וֹחַ בְּמִבְצָרֶ֑יהָ וְהָֽיְתָה֙ נְוֵ֣ה תַנִּ֔ים חָצִ֖יר לִבְנ֥וֹת יַעֲנָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in her fortresses: and it shall be a habitation of wild dogs, and a court for owls.


###### Isaiah 34:14

וּפָגְשׁ֤וּ צִיִּים֙ אֶת־אִיִּ֔ים וְשָׂעִ֖יר עַל־רֵעֵ֣הוּ יִקְרָ֑א אַךְ־שָׁם֙ הִרְגִּ֣יעָה לִּילִ֔ית וּמָצְאָ֥ה לָ֖הּ מָנֽוֹחַ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The wild creatures of the desert also meet with the jackals, the scops owl shall cry to his fellow; the tawny owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.


###### Isaiah 34:15

שָׁ֣מָּה קִנְּנָ֤ה קִפּוֹז֙ וַתְּמַלֵּ֔ט וּבָקְעָ֖ה וְדָגְרָ֣ה בְצִלָּ֑הּ אַךְ־שָׁ֛ם נִקְבְּצ֥וּ דַיּ֖וֹת אִשָּׁ֥ה רְעוּתָֽהּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and brood under her shadow: there shall the kites also be gathered, every one with her mate.


###### Isaiah 34:16

דִּרְשׁ֨וּ מֵעַל־סֵ֤פֶר יְהֹוָה֙ וּֽקְרָ֔אוּ אַחַ֤ת מֵהֵ֙נָּה֙ לֹ֣א נֶעְדָּ֔רָה אִשָּׁ֥ה רְעוּתָ֖הּ לֹ֣א פָקָ֑דוּ כִּי־פִי֙ ה֣וּא צִוָּ֔ה וְרוּח֖וֹ ה֥וּא קִבְּצָֽן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Seek out of the book of the Lord, and read: none of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my speech has commanded, and his spirit has gathered them.


###### Isaiah 34:17

וְהֽוּא־הִפִּ֤יל לָהֶן֙ גּוֹרָ֔ל וְיָד֛וֹ חִלְּקַ֥תָּה לָהֶ֖ם בַּקָּ֑ו עַד־עוֹלָם֙ יִֽירָשׁ֔וּהָ לְד֥וֹר וָד֖וֹר יִשְׁכְּנוּ־בָֽהּ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
