## Isaiah Chapter 57

###### Isaiah 57:1

הַצַּדִּ֣יק אָבָ֔ד וְאֵ֥ין אִ֖ישׁ שָׂ֣ם עַל־לֵ֑ב וְאַנְשֵׁי־חֶ֤סֶד נֶאֱסָפִים֙ בְּאֵ֣ין מֵבִ֔ין כִּֽי־מִפְּנֵ֥י הָרָעָ֖ה נֶאֱסַ֥ף הַצַּדִּֽיק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.


###### Isaiah 57:2

יָב֣וֹא שָׁל֔וֹם יָנ֖וּחוּ עַל־מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָ֑ם הֹלֵ֖ךְ נְכֹחֽוֹ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
He that walks in his uprightness, shall enter in peace to them that rest in their graves.


###### Isaiah 57:3

וְאַתֶּ֥ם קִרְבוּ־הֵ֖נָּה בְּנֵ֣י עֹנְנָ֑ה זֶ֥רַע מְנָאֵ֖ף וַתִּזְנֶֽה׃

But draw near, O sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the harlot.


###### Isaiah 57:4

עַל־מִי֙ תִּתְעַנָּ֔גוּ עַל־מִ֛י תַּרְחִ֥יבוּ פֶ֖ה תַּאֲרִ֣יכוּ לָשׁ֑וֹן הֲלוֹא־אַתֶּ֥ם יִלְדֵי־פֶ֖שַׁע זֶ֥רַע שָֽׁקֶר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Against whom do you make sport? against whom do you open wide your mouth, and draw out the tongue? are you not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,


###### Isaiah 57:5

הַנֵּֽחָמִים֙ בָּאֵלִ֔ים תַּ֖חַת כׇּל־עֵ֣ץ רַעֲנָ֑ן שֹׁחֲטֵ֤י הַיְלָדִים֙ בַּנְּחָלִ֔ים תַּ֖חַת סְעִפֵ֥י הַסְּלָעִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
inflaming yourselves among the terebinths, under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?


###### Isaiah 57:6

בְּחַלְּקֵי־נַ֣חַל חֶלְקֵ֔ךְ הֵ֥ם הֵ֖ם גּוֹרָלֵ֑ךְ גַּם־לָהֶ֞ם שָׁפַ֥כְתְּ נֶ֙סֶךְ֙ הֶעֱלִ֣ית מִנְחָ֔ה הַ֥עַל אֵ֖לֶּה אֶנָּחֵֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Among the smooth stones of the wadi is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meal offering. Shall I be appeased for these things?


###### Isaiah 57:7

עַ֤ל הַר־גָּבֹ֙הַּ֙ וְנִשָּׂ֔א שַׂ֖מְתְּ מִשְׁכָּבֵ֑ךְ גַּם־שָׁ֥ם עָלִ֖ית לִזְבֹּ֥חַ זָֽבַח׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: also thou wentest up to offer sacrifice.


###### Isaiah 57:8

וְאַחַ֤ר הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙ וְהַמְּזוּזָ֔ה שַׂ֖מְתְּ זִכְרוֹנֵ֑ךְ כִּ֣י מֵאִתִּ֞י גִּלִּ֣ית וַֽתַּעֲלִ֗י הִרְחַ֤בְתְּ מִשְׁכָּבֵךְ֙ וַתִּכְרׇת־לָ֣ךְ מֵהֶ֔ם אָהַ֥בְתְּ מִשְׁכָּבָ֖ם יָ֥ד חָזִֽית׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy (unclean) symbol: for thou hast uncovered thyself to others than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made a covenant with some of them; thou didst love their lying with thee, thou didst select a place.


###### Isaiah 57:9

וַתָּשֻׁ֤רִי לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ בַּשֶּׁ֔מֶן וַתַּרְבִּ֖י רִקֻּחָ֑יִךְ וַתְּשַׁלְּחִ֤י צִרַ֙יִךְ֙ עַד־מֵ֣רָחֹ֔ק וַתַּשְׁפִּ֖ילִי עַד־שְׁאֽוֹל׃

And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and sent down even to She᾽ol.


###### Isaiah 57:10

בְּרֹ֤ב דַּרְכֵּךְ֙ יָגַ֔עַתְּ לֹ֥א אָמַ֖רְתְּ נוֹאָ֑שׁ חַיַּ֤ת יָדֵךְ֙ מָצָ֔את עַל־כֵּ֖ן לֹ֥א חָלִֽית׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thou art wearied with the length of the way; yet thou didst not say, It is hopeless: thou hast found a renewal of thy strength; therefore thou wast not sick.


###### Isaiah 57:11

וְאֶת־מִ֞י דָּאַ֤גְתְּ וַתִּֽירְאִי֙ כִּ֣י תְכַזֵּ֔בִי וְאוֹתִי֙ לֹ֣א זָכַ֔רְתְּ לֹא־שַׂ֖מְתְּ עַל־לִבֵּ֑ךְ הֲלֹ֨א אֲנִ֤י מַחְשֶׁה֙ וּמֵ֣עֹלָ֔ם וְאוֹתִ֖י לֹ֥א תִירָֽאִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou wast false, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? is it not that I held my peace even of old? therefore thou fearest me not?


###### Isaiah 57:12

אֲנִ֥י אַגִּ֖יד צִדְקָתֵ֑ךְ וְאֶֽת־מַעֲשַׂ֖יִךְ וְלֹ֥א יוֹעִילֽוּךְ׃

I will declare thy righteousness; and as for thy works, they shall not profit thee.


###### Isaiah 57:13

בְּזַֽעֲקֵךְ֙ יַצִּילֻ֣ךְ קִבּוּצַ֔יִךְ וְאֶת־כֻּלָּ֥ם יִשָּׂא־ר֖וּחַ יִקַּח־הָ֑בֶל וְהַחוֹסֶ֥ה בִי֙ יִנְחַל־אֶ֔רֶץ וְיִירַ֖שׁ הַר־קׇדְשִֽׁי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
When thou criest, let thy collection of idols deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; a breath shall bear them off: but he that puts his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.


###### Isaiah 57:14

וְאָמַ֥ר סֹֽלּוּ־סֹ֖לּוּ פַּנּוּ־דָ֑רֶךְ הָרִ֥ימוּ מִכְשׁ֖וֹל מִדֶּ֥רֶךְ עַמִּֽי׃{ס}

And one shall say, Bank up, build up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.


###### Isaiah 57:15

כִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֜ר רָ֣ם וְנִשָּׂ֗א שֹׁכֵ֥ן עַד֙ וְקָד֣וֹשׁ שְׁמ֔וֹ מָר֥וֹם וְקָד֖וֹשׁ אֶשְׁכּ֑וֹן וְאֶת־דַּכָּא֙ וּשְׁפַל־ר֔וּחַ לְהַחֲיוֹת֙ ר֣וּחַ שְׁפָלִ֔ים וּֽלְהַחֲי֖וֹת לֵ֥ב נִדְכָּאִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell on high and in a holy place, yet with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.


###### Isaiah 57:16

כִּ֣י לֹ֤א לְעוֹלָם֙ אָרִ֔יב וְלֹ֥א לָנֶ֖צַח אֶקְצ֑וֹף כִּי־ר֙וּחַ֙ מִלְּפָנַ֣י יַעֲט֔וֹף וּנְשָׁמ֖וֹת אֲנִ֥י עָשִֽׂיתִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always angry: but the spirit and the soul which I have made, should faint before me.


###### Isaiah 57:17

בַּעֲוֺ֥ן בִּצְע֛וֹ קָצַ֥פְתִּי וְאַכֵּ֖הוּ הַסְתֵּ֣ר וְאֶקְצֹ֑ף וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ שׁוֹבָ֖ב בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ לִבּֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wrathful, and smote him; I hid me, and was angry: but he went on perversely in the way of his heart.


###### Isaiah 57:18

דְּרָכָ֥יו רָאִ֖יתִי וְאֶרְפָּאֵ֑הוּ וְאַנְחֵ֕הוּ וַאֲשַׁלֵּ֧ם נִחֻמִ֛ים ל֖וֹ וְלַאֲבֵלָֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and bestow comforts on him and on his mourners.


###### Isaiah 57:19

בּוֹרֵ֖א (נוב) [נִ֣יב] שְׂפָתָ֑יִם שָׁל֨וֹם׀שָׁל֜וֹם לָרָח֧וֹק וְלַקָּר֛וֹב אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה וּרְפָאתִֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I will create a new expression of the lips: Peace, peace, both for far and near, says the Lord. And I will heal him.


###### Isaiah 57:20

וְהָרְשָׁעִ֖ים כַּיָּ֣ם נִגְרָ֑שׁ כִּ֤י הַשְׁקֵט֙ לֹ֣א יוּכָ֔ל וַיִּגְרְשׁ֥וּ מֵימָ֖יו רֶ֥פֶשׁ וָטִֽיט׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
But the wicked are like the troubled sea, which cannot be still, and whose waters cast up mire and dirt.


###### Isaiah 57:21

אֵ֣ין שָׁל֔וֹם אָמַ֥ר אֱלֹהַ֖י לָרְשָׁעִֽים׃{פ}

There will be no peace, says my God, for the wicked.
