## Isaiah Chapter 63

###### Isaiah 63:1

מִי־זֶ֣ה**׀** בָּ֣א מֵאֱד֗וֹם חֲמ֤וּץ בְּגָדִים֙ מִבׇּצְרָ֔ה זֶ֚ה הָד֣וּר בִּלְבוּשׁ֔וֹ צֹעֶ֖ה בְּרֹ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ אֲנִ֛י מְדַבֵּ֥ר בִּצְדָקָ֖ה רַ֥ב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Who is this that comes from Edom, with crimsoned garments from Bożra? this one that is glorious in his apparel, striding in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.


###### Isaiah 63:2

מַדּ֥וּעַ אָדֹ֖ם לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ וּבְגָדֶ֖יךָ כְּדֹרֵ֥ךְ בְּגַֽת׃

Why is thy apparel red, and thy garments like his that treads in the winepress?


###### Isaiah 63:3

פּוּרָ֣ה**׀** דָּרַ֣כְתִּי לְבַדִּ֗י וּמֵֽעַמִּים֙ אֵֽין־אִ֣ישׁ אִתִּ֔י וְאֶדְרְכֵ֣ם בְּאַפִּ֔י וְאֶרְמְסֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְיֵ֤ז נִצְחָם֙ עַל־בְּגָדַ֔י וְכׇל־מַלְבּוּשַׁ֖י אֶגְאָֽלְתִּי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was none with me: for I have trodden them in my anger, and trampled them in my fury; and their blood was sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment.

כִּ֛י י֥וֹם נָקָ֖ם בְּלִבִּ֑י וּשְׁנַ֥ת גְּאוּלַ֖י בָּֽאָה׃

For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.


###### Isaiah 63:5

וְאַבִּיט֙ וְאֵ֣ין עֹזֵ֔ר וְאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֖ם וְאֵ֣ין סוֹמֵ֑ךְ וַתּ֤וֹשַֽׁע־לִי֙ זְרֹעִ֔י וַחֲמָתִ֖י הִ֥יא סְמָכָֽתְנִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I looked and there was none to help; and I gazed astonished but there was none to uphold: therefore has my own arm brought salvation to me; and my fury, it has upheld me.


###### Isaiah 63:6

וְאָב֤וּס עַמִּים֙ בְּאַפִּ֔י וַאֲשַׁכְּרֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְאוֹרִ֥יד לָאָ֖רֶץ נִצְחָֽם׃{ס}

And I trod down peoples in my anger, and made them drunk with my fury, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth:


###### Isaiah 63:7

חַֽסְדֵ֨י יְהֹוָ֤ה׀אַזְכִּיר֙ תְּהִלֹּ֣ת יְהֹוָ֔ה כְּעַ֕ל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֖נוּ יְהֹוָ֑ה וְרַב־טוּב֙ לְבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֥ם כְּֽרַחֲמָ֖יו וּכְרֹ֥ב חֲסָדָֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I will mention the acts of the Lord’s faithful love, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Yisra᾽el which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the abundance of his faithful love.


###### Isaiah 63:8

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַךְ־עַמִּ֣י הֵ֔מָּה בָּנִ֖ים לֹ֣א יְשַׁקֵּ֑רוּ וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְמוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their deliverer.


###### Isaiah 63:9

בְּֽכׇל־צָרָתָ֣ם**׀** (לא) [ל֣וֹ] צָ֗ר וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ פָּנָיו֙ הוֹשִׁיעָ֔ם בְּאַהֲבָת֥וֹ וּבְחֶמְלָת֖וֹ ה֣וּא גְאָלָ֑ם וַֽיְנַטְּלֵ֥ם וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵ֖ם כׇּל־יְמֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

וְהֵ֛מָּה מָר֥וּ וְעִצְּב֖וּ אֶת־ר֣וּחַ קׇדְשׁ֑וֹ וַיֵּהָפֵ֥ךְ לָהֶ֛ם לְאוֹיֵ֖ב ה֥וּא נִלְחַם־בָּֽם׃

But they rebelled, and vexed his holy spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

וַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר יְמֵֽי־עוֹלָ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֣ה עַמּ֑וֹ אַיֵּ֣ה**׀** הַֽמַּעֲלֵ֣ם מִיָּ֗ם אֵ֚ת רֹעֵ֣י צֹאנ֔וֹ אַיֵּ֛ה הַשָּׂ֥ם בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ אֶת־ר֥וּחַ קׇדְשֽׁוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then he remembered the days of old, Moshe, and his people saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy spirit within him?


###### Isaiah 63:12

מוֹלִיךְ֙ לִימִ֣ין מֹשֶׁ֔ה זְר֖וֹעַ תִּפְאַרְתּ֑וֹ בּ֤וֹקֵֽעַ מַ֙יִם֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת ל֖וֹ שֵׁ֥ם עוֹלָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
That caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moshe, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?


###### Isaiah 63:13

מוֹלִיכָ֖ם בַּתְּהֹמ֑וֹת כַּסּ֥וּס בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּשֵֽׁלוּ׃

That led them through the deep, like a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?


###### Isaiah 63:14

כַּבְּהֵמָה֙ בַּבִּקְעָ֣ה תֵרֵ֔ד ר֥וּחַ יְהֹוָ֖ה תְּנִיחֶ֑נּוּ כֵּ֚ן נִהַ֣גְתָּ עַמְּךָ֔ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לְךָ֖ שֵׁ֥ם תִּפְאָֽרֶת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Like cattle going down into the valley, the spirit of the Lord gave them rest. So Thou didst lead Thy people, to make Thyself a glorious name.


###### Isaiah 63:15

הַבֵּ֤ט מִשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מִזְּבֻ֥ל קׇדְשְׁךָ֖ וְתִפְאַרְתֶּ֑ךָ אַיֵּ֤ה קִנְאָֽתְךָ֙ וּגְב֣וּרֹתֶ֔ךָ הֲמ֥וֹן מֵעֶ֛יךָ וְֽרַחֲמֶ֖יךָ אֵלַ֥י הִתְאַפָּֽקוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Look down from heaven and see; from the habitation of Thy holiness and of Thy glory: where is Thy zeal and Thy mighty acts? Thy compassion and Thy mercies are withheld from me.


###### Isaiah 63:16

כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אָבִ֔ינוּ כִּ֤י אַבְרָהָם֙ לֹ֣א יְדָעָ֔נוּ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֣א יַכִּירָ֑נוּ אַתָּ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ אָבִ֔ינוּ גֹּאֲלֵ֥נוּ מֵעוֹלָ֖ם שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Thou art our father, though Avraham be ignorant of us, and Yisra᾽el acknowledge us not: Thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; Thy name is from everlasting.


###### Isaiah 63:17

לָ֣מָּה תַתְעֵ֤נוּ יְהֹוָה֙ מִדְּרָכֶ֔יךָ תַּקְשִׁ֥יחַ לִבֵּ֖נוּ מִיִּרְאָתֶ֑ךָ שׁ֚וּב לְמַ֣עַן עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ שִׁבְטֵ֖י נַחֲלָתֶֽךָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
O Lord, why hast Thou made us to stray from Thy ways, and hardened our heart from Thy fear? Return for Thy servants’ sake, the tribes of Thy inheritance.


###### Isaiah 63:18

לַמִּצְעָ֕ר יָרְשׁ֖וּ עַם־קׇדְשֶׁ֑ךָ צָרֵ֕ינוּ בּוֹסְס֖וּ מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ׃

The people of Thy holiness possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.


###### Isaiah 63:19

הָיִ֗ינוּ מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ לֹא־מָשַׁ֣לְתָּ בָּ֔ם לֹֽא־נִקְרָ֥א שִׁמְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לֽוּא־קָרַ֤עְתָּ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ יָרַ֔דְתָּ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ הָרִ֥ים נָזֹֽלּוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
We have become like those over whom Thou never didst rule, who were not called by Thy name. Oh, that Thou wouldst rend the heavens, that Thou wouldst come down, that the mountains would melt away at Thy presence.
