## Isaiah Chapter 64

###### Isaiah 64:1

כִּקְדֹ֧חַ אֵ֣שׁ הֲמָסִ֗ים מַ֚יִם תִּבְעֶה־אֵ֔שׁ לְהוֹדִ֥יעַ שִׁמְךָ֖ לְצָרֶ֑יךָ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ גּוֹיִ֥ם יִרְגָּֽזוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
As when fire kindles brushwood, as when fire causes the water to bubble up; to make Thy name known to Thy enemies, that the nations might tremble at Thy presence.

בַּעֲשׂוֹתְךָ֥ נוֹרָא֖וֹת לֹ֣א נְקַוֶּ֑ה יָרַ֕דְתָּ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ הָרִ֥ים נָזֹֽלּוּ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
When Thou didst terrible things which we looked not for; when Thou didst come down, the mountains flowed down at Thy presence.


###### Isaiah 64:3

וּמֵעוֹלָ֥ם לֹא־שָׁמְע֖וּ לֹ֣א הֶאֱזִ֑ינוּ עַ֣יִן לֹֽא־רָאָ֗תָה אֱלֹהִים֙ זוּלָ֣תְךָ֔ יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה לִמְחַכֵּה־לֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, that a god, beside Thee, should do such a thing for him that waits for him.


###### Isaiah 64:4

פָּגַ֤עְתָּ אֶת־שָׂשׂ֙ וְעֹ֣שֵׂה צֶ֔דֶק בִּדְרָכֶ֖יךָ יִזְכְּר֑וּךָ הֵן־אַתָּ֤ה קָצַ֙פְתָּ֙ וַֽנֶּחֱטָ֔א בָּהֶ֥ם עוֹלָ֖ם וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thou didst strike down him that rejoiced and worked righteousness: who remembered Thee in Thy ways: behold, Thou hast been angry, and we have sinned. In those ways we remain always: how then shall we be saved?

וַנְּהִ֤י כַטָּמֵא֙ כֻּלָּ֔נוּ וּכְבֶ֥גֶד עִדִּ֖ים כׇּל־צִדְקֹתֵ֑ינוּ וַנָּ֤בֶל כֶּֽעָלֶה֙ כֻּלָּ֔נוּ וַעֲוֺנֵ֖נוּ כָּר֥וּחַ יִשָּׂאֻֽנוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And we are all as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

וְאֵין־קוֹרֵ֣א בְשִׁמְךָ֔ מִתְעוֹרֵ֖ר לְהַחֲזִ֣יק בָּ֑ךְ כִּֽי־הִסְתַּ֤רְתָּ פָנֶ֙יךָ֙ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וַתְּמוּגֵ֖נוּ בְּיַד־עֲוֺנֵֽנוּ׃

And there is none that calls upon Thy name, that stirs himself up to take hold of Thee: for Thou hast hid Thy face from us, and hast consumed us, through the force of our iniquities.


###### Isaiah 64:7

וְעַתָּ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה אָבִ֣ינוּ אָ֑תָּה אֲנַ֤חְנוּ הַחֹ֙מֶר֙ וְאַתָּ֣ה יֹצְרֵ֔נוּ וּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדְךָ֖ כֻּלָּֽנוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
But now, O Lord, Thou art our father; we are the clay, and Thou our potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand.


###### Isaiah 64:8

אַל־תִּקְצֹ֤ף יְהֹוָה֙ עַד־מְאֹ֔ד וְאַל־לָעַ֖ד תִּזְכֹּ֣ר עָוֺ֑ן הֵ֥ן הַבֶּט־נָ֖א עַמְּךָ֥ כֻלָּֽנוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Be not so very indignant, O Lord, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech Thee, we are all Thy people.


###### Isaiah 64:9

עָרֵ֥י קׇדְשְׁךָ֖ הָי֣וּ מִדְבָּ֑ר צִיּוֹן֙ מִדְבָּ֣ר הָיָ֔תָה יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם שְׁמָמָֽה׃

Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Żiyyon is a wilderness, Yerushalayim a desolation.


###### Isaiah 64:10

בֵּ֧ית קׇדְשֵׁ֣נוּ וְתִפְאַרְתֵּ֗נוּ אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִֽלְל֙וּךָ֙ אֲבֹתֵ֔ינוּ הָיָ֖ה לִשְׂרֵ֣פַת אֵ֑שׁ וְכׇל־מַחֲמַדֵּ֖ינוּ הָיָ֥ה לְחׇרְבָּֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised Thee, is burnt with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.


###### Isaiah 64:11

הַעַל־אֵ֥לֶּה תִתְאַפַּ֖ק יְהֹוָ֑ה תֶּחֱשֶׁ֥ה וּתְעַנֵּ֖נוּ עַד־מְאֹֽד׃{פ}

Wilt Thou restrain Thyself at these things, O Lord? wilt Thou hold Thy peace, and afflict us so very greatly?
