## Isaiah Chapter 7

###### Isaiah 7:1

וַיְהִ֡י בִּימֵ֣י אָ֠חָ֠ז בֶּן־יוֹתָ֨ם בֶּן־עֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה עָלָ֣ה רְצִ֣ין מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲ֠רָ֠ם וּפֶ֨קַח בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה עָלֶ֑יהָ וְלֹ֥א יָכֹ֖ל לְהִלָּחֵ֥ם עָלֶֽיהָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it came to pass in the days of Aĥaz the son of Yotam, the son of ῾Uzziyyahu, king of Yehuda, that Reżin the king of Aram, and Peqaĥ the son of Remalyahu, king of Yisra᾽el, went up to Yerushalayim to war against it, but could not prevail against it.


###### Isaiah 7:2

וַיֻּגַּ֗ד לְבֵ֤ית דָּוִד֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר נָ֥חָה אֲרָ֖ם עַל־אֶפְרָ֑יִם וַיָּ֤נַע לְבָבוֹ֙ וּלְבַ֣ב עַמּ֔וֹ כְּנ֥וֹעַ עֲצֵי־יַ֖עַר מִפְּנֵי־רֽוּחַ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it was told the house of David, saying, Aram is confederate with Efrayim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.


###### Isaiah 7:3

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָה֮ אֶֽל־יְשַֽׁעְיָ֒הוּ֒ צֵא־נָא֙ לִקְרַ֣את אָחָ֔ז אַתָּ֕ה וּשְׁאָ֖ר יָשׁ֣וּב בְּנֶ֑ךָ אֶל־קְצֵ֗ה תְּעָלַת֙ הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה אֶל־מְסִלַּ֖ת שְׂדֵ֥ה כוֹבֵֽס׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then said the Lord to Yesha῾yahu, Go out now to meet Aĥaz, thou, and She᾽ar-yashuv thy son, at the end of the aqueduct of the upper pool in the highway of the washers’ field;


###### Isaiah 7:4

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֵ֠לָ֠יו הִשָּׁמֵ֨ר וְהַשְׁקֵ֜ט אַל־תִּירָ֗א וּלְבָֽבְךָ֙ אַל־יֵרַ֔ךְ מִשְּׁנֵ֨י זַנְב֧וֹת הָאוּדִ֛ים הָעֲשֵׁנִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה בׇּחֳרִי־אַ֛ף רְצִ֥ין וַאֲרָ֖ם וּבֶן־רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and say to him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted on account of the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Reżin and Aram, and of the son of Remalyahu.


###### Isaiah 7:5

יַ֗עַן כִּֽי־יָעַ֥ץ עָלֶ֛יךָ אֲרָ֖ם רָעָ֑ה אֶפְרַ֥יִם וּבֶן־רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Because Aram, Efrayim, and the son of Remalyahu, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,


###### Isaiah 7:6

נַעֲלֶ֤ה בִֽיהוּדָה֙ וּנְקִיצֶ֔נָּה וְנַבְקִעֶ֖נָּה אֵלֵ֑ינוּ וְנַמְלִ֥יךְ מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ אֵ֖ת בֶּן־טָֽבְאַֽל׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Let us go up against Yehuda, and harass it, and let us make a breach in it for us, and set a king in the midst of it, namely the son of Tave᾽all:


###### Isaiah 7:7

כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה לֹ֥א תָק֖וּם וְלֹ֥א תִֽהְיֶֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
thus says the Lord God, It shall not stand; neither shall it come to pass.


###### Isaiah 7:8

כִּ֣י רֹ֤אשׁ אֲרָם֙ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְרֹ֥אשׁ דַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק רְצִ֑ין וּבְע֗וֹד שִׁשִּׁ֤ים וְחָמֵשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה יֵחַ֥ת אֶפְרַ֖יִם מֵעָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the head of Aram is Dammeseq, and the head of Dammeseq is Reżin; and within sixty five years Efrayim shall be broken in pieces, and no more a people.


###### Isaiah 7:9

וְרֹ֤אשׁ אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וְרֹ֥אשׁ שֹׁמְר֖וֹן בֶּן־רְמַלְיָ֑הוּ אִ֚ם לֹ֣א תַאֲמִ֔ינוּ כִּ֖י לֹ֥א תֵאָמֵֽנוּ׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the head of Efrayim is Shomeron, and the head of Shomeron is the son of Remalyahu. If you have no faith you shall not be established.


###### Isaiah 7:10

וַיּ֣וֹסֶף יְהֹוָ֔ה דַּבֵּ֥ר אֶל־אָחָ֖ז לֵאמֹֽר׃

Moreover the Lord spoke again to Aĥaz, saying,


###### Isaiah 7:11

שְׁאַל־לְךָ֣ א֔וֹת מֵעִ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ הַעְמֵ֣ק שְׁאָ֔לָה א֖וֹ הַגְבֵּ֥הַּ לְמָֽעְלָה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Ask a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.


###### Isaiah 7:12

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָחָ֑ז לֹא־אֶשְׁאַ֥ל וְלֹֽא־אֲנַסֶּ֖ה אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃

But Aĥaz said, I will not ask, neither will I try the Lord.


###### Isaiah 7:13

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁמְעוּ־נָ֖א בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֑ד הַמְעַ֤ט מִכֶּם֙ הַלְא֣וֹת אֲנָשִׁ֔ים כִּ֥י תַלְא֖וּ גַּ֥ם אֶת־אֱלֹהָֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And he said, Hear now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?


###### Isaiah 7:14

לָ֠כֵ֠ן יִתֵּ֨ן אֲדֹנָ֥י ה֛וּא לָכֶ֖ם א֑וֹת הִנֵּ֣ה הָעַלְמָ֗ה הָרָה֙ וְיֹלֶ֣דֶת בֵּ֔ן וְקָרָ֥את שְׁמ֖וֹ עִמָּ֥נוּ אֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, the young woman is with child, and she will bear a son, and shall call his name ῾Immanu᾽el.


###### Isaiah 7:15

חֶמְאָ֥ה וּדְבַ֖שׁ יֹאכֵ֑ל לְדַעְתּ֛וֹ מָא֥וֹס בָּרָ֖ע וּבָח֥וֹר בַּטּֽוֹב׃

Butter and honey shall he eat, when he shall know how to refuse the evil, and choose the good.


###### Isaiah 7:16

כִּ֠י בְּטֶ֨רֶם יֵדַ֥ע הַנַּ֛עַר מָאֹ֥ס בָּרָ֖ע וּבָחֹ֣ר בַּטּ֑וֹב תֵּעָזֵ֤ב הָאֲדָמָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתָּ֣ה קָ֔ץ מִפְּנֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י מְלָכֶֽיהָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For before the child shall know how to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings thou dreadest shall be deserted.


###### Isaiah 7:17

יָבִ֨יא יְהֹוָ֜ה עָלֶ֗יךָ וְעַֽל־עַמְּךָ֮ וְעַל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֒יךָ֒ יָמִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־בָ֔אוּ לְמִיּ֥וֹם סוּר־אֶפְרַ֖יִם מֵעַ֣ל יְהוּדָ֑ה אֵ֖ת מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come since the day that Efrayim departed from Yehuda; namely the king of Ashshur.


###### Isaiah 7:18

וְהָיָ֣ה**׀** בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא יִשְׁרֹ֤ק יְהֹוָה֙ לַזְּב֔וּב אֲשֶׁ֥ר בִּקְצֵ֖ה יְאֹרֵ֣י מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלַ֨דְּבוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּאֶ֥רֶץ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass on that day, that the Lord shall whistle to the fly that is in the uttermost end of the canals of Miżrayim, and to the bee that is in the land of Ashshur.


###### Isaiah 7:19

וּבָ֨אוּ וְנָח֤וּ כֻלָּם֙ בְּנַחֲלֵ֣י הַבַּתּ֔וֹת וּבִנְקִיקֵ֖י הַסְּלָעִ֑ים וּבְכֹל֙ הַנַּ֣עֲצוּצִ֔ים וּבְכֹ֖ל הַנַּהֲלֹלִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate wadis, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all branches.


###### Isaiah 7:20

בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֡וּא יְגַלַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָי֩ בְּתַ֨עַר הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י נָהָר֙ בְּמֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר אֶת־הָרֹ֖אשׁ וְשַׂ֣עַר הָרַגְלָ֑יִם וְגַ֥ם אֶת־הַזָּקָ֖ן תִּסְפֶּֽה׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
On the same day shall the Lord shave with a hired razor that is hired (namely with them beyond the river with the king of Ashshur) the head, and the hair of the legs: and it shall also sweep away the beard.


###### Isaiah 7:21

וְהָיָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא יְחַיֶּה־אִ֛ישׁ עֶגְלַ֥ת בָּקָ֖ר וּשְׁתֵּי־צֹֽאן׃

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;


###### Isaiah 7:22

וְהָיָ֗ה מֵרֹ֛ב עֲשׂ֥וֹת חָלָ֖ב יֹאכַ֣ל חֶמְאָ֑ה כִּֽי־חֶמְאָ֤ה וּדְבַשׁ֙ יֹאכֵ֔ל כׇּל־הַנּוֹתָ֖ר בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and it shall come to pass, from the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.


###### Isaiah 7:23

וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִהְיֶ֣ה כׇל־מָק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֧ר יִֽהְיֶה־שָּׁ֛ם אֶ֥לֶף גֶּ֖פֶן בְּאֶ֣לֶף כָּ֑סֶף לַשָּׁמִ֥יר וְלַשַּׁ֖יִת יִהְיֶֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, it shall be for briers and thorns.


###### Isaiah 7:24

בַּחִצִּ֥ים וּבַקֶּ֖שֶׁת יָ֣בוֹא שָׁ֑מָּה כִּֽי־שָׁמִ֥יר וָשַׁ֖יִת תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה כׇל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
With the arrows and with the bow shall men come there; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.


###### Isaiah 7:25

וְכֹ֣ל הֶהָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּמַּעְדֵּר֙ יֵעָ֣דֵר֔וּן לֹא־תָב֣וֹא שָׁ֔מָּה יִרְאַ֖ת שָׁמִ֣יר וָשָׁ֑יִת וְהָיָה֙ לְמִשְׁלַ֣ח שׁ֔וֹר וּלְמִרְמַ֖ס שֶֽׂה׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And on all hills that are hoed with the hoe, thou shalt not come there for fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.
