## Jeremiah Chapter 15

###### Jeremiah 15:1

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י אִם־יַעֲמֹ֨ד מֹשֶׁ֤ה וּשְׁמוּאֵל֙ לְפָנַ֔י אֵ֥ין נַפְשִׁ֖י אֶל־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה שַׁלַּ֥ח מֵעַל־פָּנַ֖י וְיֵצֵֽאוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then said the Lord to me, Though Moshe and Shemu᾽el were to stand before me, my mind could not incline towards this people: send them out of my sight, and let them depart.


###### Jeremiah 15:2

וְהָיָ֛ה כִּי־יֹאמְר֥וּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ אָ֣נָה נֵצֵ֑א וְאָמַרְתָּ֨ אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר לַמָּ֤וֶת לַמָּ֙וֶת֙ וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר לַחֶ֙רֶב֙ לַחֶ֔רֶב וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר לָרָעָב֙ לָרָעָ֔ב וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר לַשְּׁבִ֖י לַשֶּֽׁבִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass, if they say to thee, Whither shall we depart? then thou shalt tell them, Thus says the Lord; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.


###### Jeremiah 15:3

וּפָקַדְתִּ֨י עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם אַרְבַּ֤ע מִשְׁפָּחוֹת֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶת־הַחֶ֣רֶב לַהֲרֹ֔ג וְאֶת־הַכְּלָבִ֖ים לִסְחֹ֑ב וְאֶת־ע֧וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם וְאֶת־בֶּהֱמַ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ לֶאֱכֹ֥ל וּלְהַשְׁחִֽית׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will appoint over them four kinds of ravagers, says the Lord: the sword to slay, and the dogs to drag away, and the birds of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.


###### Jeremiah 15:4

וּנְתַתִּ֣ים (לזועה) [לְזַעֲוָ֔ה] לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֑רֶץ בִּ֠גְלַ֠ל מְנַשֶּׁ֤ה בֶן־יְחִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה עַ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will make them into a horror for all the kingdoms of the earth, on account of Menashshe the son of Yeĥizqiyyahu king of Yehuda, for that which he did in Yerushalayim.


###### Jeremiah 15:5

כִּ֠י מִֽי־יַחְמֹ֤ל עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וּמִ֖י יָנ֣וּד לָ֑ךְ וּמִ֣י יָס֔וּר לִשְׁאֹ֥ל לְשָׁלֹ֖ם לָֽךְ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For who shall have pity upon thee, O Yerushalayim, or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?


###### Jeremiah 15:6

אַ֣תְּ נָטַ֥שְׁתְּ אֹתִ֛י נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֖ה אָח֣וֹר תֵּלֵ֑כִי וָאַ֨ט אֶת־יָדִ֤י עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ וָֽאַשְׁחִיתֵ֔ךְ נִלְאֵ֖יתִי הִנָּחֵֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thou hast forsaken me, says the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary of relenting.


###### Jeremiah 15:7

וָאֶזְרֵ֥ם בְּמִזְרֶ֖ה בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ שִׁכַּ֤לְתִּי אִבַּ֙דְתִּי֙ אֶת־עַמִּ֔י מִדַּרְכֵיהֶ֖ם לוֹא־שָֽׁבוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will winnow them with a winnowing fork in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.


###### Jeremiah 15:8

עָֽצְמוּ־לִ֤י אַלְמְנוֹתָו֙ מֵח֣וֹל יַמִּ֔ים הֵבֵ֨אתִי לָהֶ֥ם עַל־אֵ֛ם בָּח֖וּר שֹׁדֵ֣ד בַּֽצׇּהֳרָ֑יִם הִפַּ֤לְתִּי עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ פִּתְאֹ֔ם עִ֖יר וּבֶהָלֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them, upon the mothers of the young men, a spoiler at noonday: I have caused tumult and terrors to fall upon it suddenly.

אֻמְלְלָ֞ה יֹלֶ֣דֶת הַשִּׁבְעָ֗ה נָפְחָ֥ה נַפְשָׁ֛הּ (באה) [בָּ֥א] שִׁמְשָׁ֛הּ בְּעֹ֥ד יוֹמָ֖ם בּ֣וֹשָׁה וְחָפֵ֑רָה וּשְׁאֵרִיתָ֗ם לַחֶ֧רֶב אֶתֵּ֛ן לִפְנֵ֥י אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
She that has born seven languishes: she has fainted away; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she has been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the Lord.

אֽוֹי־לִ֣י אִמִּ֔י כִּ֣י יְלִדְתִּ֗נִי אִ֥ישׁ רִ֛יב וְאִ֥ישׁ מָד֖וֹן לְכׇל־הָאָ֑רֶץ לֹֽא־נָשִׁ֥יתִי וְלֹא־נָֽשׁוּ־בִ֖י כֻּלֹּ֥ה מְקַֽלְלַֽוְנִי׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast born me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent, nor have men lent to me; yet every one of them curses me.


###### Jeremiah 15:11

אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה אִם־לֹ֥א (שרותך) [שֵׁרִיתִ֖יךָ] לְט֑וֹב אִם־ל֣וֹא**׀** הִפְגַּ֣עְתִּֽי בְךָ֗ בְּעֵ֥ת רָעָ֛ה וּבְעֵ֥ת צָרָ֖ה אֶת־הָאֹיֵֽב׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord said, Have I not provided for thy welfare; have I not made the enemy entreat thy intercession, in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.


###### Jeremiah 15:12

הֲיָרֹ֨עַ בַּרְזֶ֧ל׀בַּרְזֶ֛ל מִצָּפ֖וֹן וּנְחֹֽשֶׁת׃

Shall iron break iron from the north, and brass.


###### Jeremiah 15:13

חֵילְךָ֧ וְאוֹצְרוֹתֶ֛יךָ לָבַ֥ז אֶתֵּ֖ן לֹ֣א בִמְחִ֑יר וּבְכׇל־חַטֹּאותֶ֖יךָ וּבְכׇל־גְּבוּלֶֽיךָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.


###### Jeremiah 15:14

וְהַֽעֲבַרְתִּי֙ אֶת־אֹ֣יְבֶ֔יךָ בְּאֶ֖רֶץ לֹ֣א יָדָ֑עְתָּ כִּי־אֵ֛שׁ קָדְחָ֥ה בְאַפִּ֖י עֲלֵיכֶ֥ם תּוּקָֽד׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will cause thee to pass with thy enemies into a land which thou knowst not: for a fire is kindled in my anger, which shall burn upon you.

אַתָּ֧ה יָדַ֣עְתָּ יְהֹוָ֗ה זׇכְרֵ֤נִי וּפׇקְדֵ֙נִי֙ וְהִנָּ֤קֶם לִי֙ מֵרֹ֣דְפַ֔י אַל־לְאֶ֥רֶךְ אַפְּךָ֖ תִּקָּחֵ֑נִי דַּ֕ע שְׂאֵתִ֥י עָלֶ֖יךָ חֶרְפָּֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
O Lord, Thou knowst: remember me, and be mindful of me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in Thy long suffering: know that for Thy sake I have suffered insult.


###### Jeremiah 15:16

נִמְצְא֤וּ דְבָרֶ֙יךָ֙ וָאֹ֣כְלֵ֔ם וַיְהִ֤י (דבריך) [דְבָֽרְךָ֙] לִ֔י לְשָׂשׂ֖וֹן וּלְשִׂמְחַ֣ת לְבָבִ֑י כִּֽי־נִקְרָ֤א שִׁמְךָ֙ עָלַ֔י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י צְבָאֽוֹת׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by Thy name, O Lord God of hosts.


###### Jeremiah 15:17

לֹא־יָשַׁ֥בְתִּי בְסוֹד־מְשַׂחֲקִ֖ים וָאֶעְלֹ֑ז מִפְּנֵ֤י יָֽדְךָ֙ בָּדָ֣ד יָשַׁ֔בְתִּי כִּי־זַ֖עַם מִלֵּאתָֽנִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I sat not in the assembly of the merrymakers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of Thy hand: for Thou hast filled me with indignation.


###### Jeremiah 15:18

לָ֣מָּה הָיָ֤ה כְאֵבִי֙ נֶ֔צַח וּמַכָּתִ֖י אֲנוּשָׁ֑ה מֵֽאֲנָה֙ הֵרָפֵ֔א הָי֨וֹ תִהְיֶ֥ה לִי֙ כְּמ֣וֹ אַכְזָ֔ב מַ֖יִם לֹ֥א נֶאֱמָֽנוּ׃{ס}

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? wilt Thou be to me like a deceitful stream, like waters that fail?


###### Jeremiah 15:19

לָכֵ֞ן כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אִם־תָּשׁ֤וּב וַאֲשִֽׁיבְךָ֙ לְפָנַ֣י תַּעֲמֹ֔ד וְאִם־תּוֹצִ֥יא יָקָ֛ר מִזּוֹלֵ֖ל כְּפִ֣י תִֽהְיֶ֑ה יָשֻׁ֤בוּ הֵ֙מָּה֙ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְאַתָּ֖ה לֹא־תָשׁ֥וּב אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Therefore thus says the Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee back, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou bring out the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return to thee; but return not thou to them.

וּנְתַתִּ֜יךָ לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֗ה לְחוֹמַ֤ת נְחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ בְּצוּרָ֔ה וְנִלְחֲמ֥וּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ וְלֹא־י֣וּכְלוּ לָ֑ךְ כִּֽי־אִתְּךָ֥ אֲנִ֛י לְהוֹשִׁיעֲךָ֥ וּלְהַצִּילֶ֖ךָ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will make thee to this people a fortified wall of brass: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, says the Lord.


###### Jeremiah 15:21

וְהִצַּלְתִּ֖יךָ מִיַּ֣ד רָעִ֑ים וּפְדִתִ֖יךָ מִכַּ֥ף עָרִצִֽים׃{ס}

And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
