## Job Chapter 32

###### Job 32:1

וַֽיִּשְׁבְּת֡וּ שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הָ֭אֵלֶּה מֵעֲנ֣וֹת אֶת־אִיּ֑וֹב כִּ֤י ה֖וּא צַדִּ֣יק בְּעֵינָֽיו׃{פ}

So these three men ceased to answer Iyyov, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

###### Job 32:2

וַיִּ֤חַר אַ֨ף**׀** אֱלִיה֣וּא בֶן־בַּרַכְאֵ֣ל הַבּוּזִי֮ מִמִּשְׁפַּ֢חַ֫ת רָ֥ם בְּ֭אִיּוֹב חָרָ֣ה אַפּ֑וֹ עַֽל־צַדְּק֥וֹ נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ מֵאֱלֹהִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barakh᾽el the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned: against Iyyov his anger burned, because he justified himself rather than God.

And Elihu, the son of Berachel the Buzite, from the family of Ram [(Abraham)], was angered at Iyyov. His wrath burned [against Iyyov] because he had made himself more righteous than G d.


###### Job 32:3

וּבִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת רֵעָיו֮ חָרָ֢ה אַ֫פּ֥וֹ עַ֤ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־מָצְא֣וּ מַעֲנֶ֑ה וַ֝יַּרְשִׁ֗יעוּ אֶת־אִיּֽוֹב׃

Also against his three friends did his anger burn, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Iyyov.

And his wrath burned against his three friends because they had found no answer and had [thus] condemned "Iyyov" [(euphemism for "G d")].


###### Job 32:4

וֶאֱלִיה֗וּ חִכָּ֣ה אֶת־אִ֭יּוֹב בִּדְבָרִ֑ים כִּ֤י זְֽקֵנִים־הֵ֖מָּה מִמֶּ֣נּוּ לְיָמִֽים׃

Now Elihu had waited to speak to Iyyov because they were older than he.

And Elihu had held back his words against Iyyov, for they [(the three)] were older than he in days.


###### Job 32:5

וַיַּ֤רְא אֱלִיה֗וּא כִּ֘י־אֵ֤ין מַעֲנֶ֗ה בְּ֭פִי שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים וַיִּ֥חַר אַפּֽוֹ׃{פ}

When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his anger burned.

But when Elihu saw that the three men had no answer, he was angered.


###### Job 32:6

וַיַּ֤עַן**׀** אֱלִיה֖וּא בֶן־בַּרַכְאֵ֥ל הַבּוּזִ֗י וַיֹּ֫אמַ֥ר צָ֘עִ֤יר אֲנִ֣י לְ֭יָמִים וְאַתֶּ֣ם יְשִׁישִׁ֑ים עַל־כֵּ֖ן זָחַ֥לְתִּי וָאִירָ֓א**׀** מֵחַוֺּ֖ת דֵּעִ֣י אֶתְכֶֽם׃

And Elihu the son of Barakh᾽el the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and you are very old; therefore I was afraid, and durst not declare my opinion to you.

And Elihu, the son of Berachel the Buzite, answered, saying: I am young in days, and you are old. That is why I was apprehensive and feared expressing my views together with yours.


###### Job 32:7

אָ֭מַרְתִּי יָמִ֣ים יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ וְרֹ֥ב שָׁ֝נִ֗ים יֹדִ֥יעוּ חׇכְמָֽה׃

I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

I said [to myself]: ["Just as the passage of] days [teaches one to] speak, [so the passage of] many years [must] teach [one] wisdom."


###### Job 32:8

אָ֭כֵן רוּחַ־הִ֣יא בֶאֱנ֑וֹשׁ וְנִשְׁמַ֖ת שַׁדַּ֣י תְּבִינֵֽם׃

But there is a spirit in man: and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

But [I see now that] it is a spirit [(the spirit of G d)] in man [which teaches wisdom] and the soul [bequeathed them by] the Almighty [which makes] them understand.


###### Job 32:9

לֹא־רַבִּ֥ים יֶחְכָּ֑מוּ וּ֝זְקֵנִ֗ים יָבִ֥ינוּ מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

The old are not always wise: nor do the aged understand judgment.

[Therefore,] not many are wise, and the elderly [do not necessarily] understand judgment.


###### Job 32:10

לָכֵ֣ן אָ֭מַרְתִּי שִׁמְעָה־לִּ֑י אֲחַוֶּ֖ה דֵעִ֣י אַף־אָֽנִי׃

Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will express my opinion.

That is why I have said: "Listen to me; I, too, will speak my mind."


###### Job 32:11

הֵ֤ן הוֹחַ֨לְתִּי**׀** לְֽדִבְרֵיכֶ֗ם אָ֭זִין עַד־תְּב֥וּנֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם עַֽד־תַּחְקְר֥וּן מִלִּֽין׃

Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst you searched out what to say,

I have waited for your words. I have listened until [the end of] your presentations, until [the end of] your probings of words.


###### Job 32:12

וְעָ֥דֵיכֶ֗ם אֶתְבּ֫וֹנָ֥ן וְהִנֵּ֤ה אֵ֣ין לְאִיּ֣וֹב מוֹכִ֑יחַ עוֹנֶ֖ה אֲמָרָ֣יו מִכֶּֽם׃

Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Iyyov, or that answered his words.

I have reflected upon your words, and, behold, there is no reprover of Iyyov. [None] among you answers his words.


###### Job 32:13

פֶּן־תֹּ֣֭אמְרוּ מָצָ֣אנוּ חׇכְמָ֑ה אֵ֖ל יִדְּפֶ֣נּוּ לֹא־אִֽישׁ׃

Beware lest you say, We have found out wisdom: God will thrust him down, not man.

Do not say: "We have found wisdom [in our silence, not to provoke him further]; let G d repel him, not man" [(for you thereby detract from G d's honor)].


###### Job 32:14

וְלֹא־עָרַ֣ךְ אֵלַ֣י מִלִּ֑ין וּ֝בְאִמְרֵיכֶ֗ם לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃

Now he has not directed his words against me: so that I will not answer him with your speeches.

Would that he had argued with me! I would not have answered him with your words.


###### Job 32:15

חַ֭תּוּ לֹא־עָ֣נוּ ע֑וֹד הֶעְתִּ֖יקוּ מֵהֶ֣ם מִלִּֽים׃

They are amazed, they answer no more: they have left off speaking.

They [(the friends)] were broken [by Iyyov's rejoinders]. They answered no more. Words departed from them.


###### Job 32:16

וְ֭הוֹחַלְתִּי כִּי־לֹ֣א יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ כִּ֥י עָ֝מְד֗וּ לֹא־עָ֥נוּ עֽוֹד׃

And shall I wait because they do not speak; because they stand there, and answer no more?

And I waited until they would speak no more, until they were silent and answered no more.


###### Job 32:17

אַעֲנֶ֣ה אַף־אֲנִ֣י חֶלְקִ֑י אֲחַוֶּ֖ה דֵעִ֣י אַף־אָֽנִי׃

I also will answer my part, I also will express my opinion.

[Now,] I, too, will speak my part. I, too, will express my view.


###### Job 32:18

כִּ֭י מָלֵ֣תִי מִלִּ֑ים הֱ֝צִיקַ֗תְנִי ר֣וּחַ בִּטְנִֽי׃

For I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.

For I am full with words. The swelling of my stomach oppresses me.


###### Job 32:19

הִנֵּֽה־בִטְנִ֗י כְּיַ֥יִן לֹֽא־יִפָּתֵ֑חַ כְּאֹב֥וֹת חֲ֝דָשִׁ֗ים יִבָּקֵֽעַ׃

Behold, my belly is like wine which has no vent; it is ready to burst like new wineskins.

My stomach is [swelling with rejoinders] like an unopened wine [skin], like skins of new [wine], ready to burst.


###### Job 32:20

אֲדַבְּרָ֥ה וְיִֽרְוַֽח־לִ֑י אֶפְתַּ֖ח שְׂפָתַ֣י וְאֶעֱנֶֽה׃

I will speak, that I may find relief: I will open my lips and answer.

I will speak and I will be eased; I will open my lips and my answers will come forth.


###### Job 32:21

אַל־נָ֭א אֶשָּׂ֣א פְנֵי־אִ֑ישׁ וְאֶל־אָ֝דָ֗ם לֹ֣א אֲכַנֶּֽה׃

Let me not, I pray you, respect any man’s person, nor let me give flattering titles to any man.

I will not now court anyone's favor, and I will refer to no man obliquely [(but directly)].


###### Job 32:22

כִּ֤י לֹ֣א יָדַ֣עְתִּי אֲכַנֶּ֑ה כִּ֝מְעַ֗ט יִשָּׂאֵ֥נִי עֹשֵֽׂנִי׃

For I do not know how to flatter; or else my maker would soon take me away.

For I do not know indirection. My Maker would almost remove me [(from the world for it)].
