## Joel Chapter 4

###### Joel 4:1

כִּ֗י הִנֵּ֛ה בַּיָּמִ֥ים הָהֵ֖מָּה וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑יא אֲשֶׁ֥ר (אשוב) [אָשִׁ֛יב] אֶת־שְׁב֥וּת יְהוּדָ֖ה וִירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring back the captivity of Yehuda and Yerushalayim,


###### Joel 4:2

וְקִבַּצְתִּי֙ אֶת־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְה֣וֹרַדְתִּ֔ים אֶל־עֵ֖מֶק יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט וְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֨י עִמָּ֜ם שָׁ֗ם עַל־עַמִּ֨י וְנַחֲלָתִ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר פִּזְּר֣וּ בַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְאֶת־אַרְצִ֖י חִלֵּֽקוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Yehoshafat, and will enter into judgment with them there for my people and for my heritage Yisra᾽el, whom they have scattered among the nations, and have divided up my land.

וְאֶל־עַמִּ֖י יַדּ֣וּ גוֹרָ֑ל וַֽיִּתְּנ֤וּ הַיֶּ֙לֶד֙ בַּזּוֹנָ֔ה וְהַיַּלְדָּ֛ה מָכְר֥וּ בַיַּ֖יִן וַיִּשְׁתּֽוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.


###### Joel 4:4

וְ֠גַ֠ם מָה־אַתֶּ֥ם לִי֙ צֹ֣ר וְצִיד֔וֹן וְכֹ֖ל גְּלִיל֣וֹת פְּלָ֑שֶׁת הַגְּמ֗וּל אַתֶּם֙ מְשַׁלְּמִ֣ים עָלָ֔י וְאִם־גֹּמְלִ֤ים אַתֶּם֙ עָלַ֔י קַ֣ל מְהֵרָ֔ה אָשִׁ֥יב גְּמֻֽלְכֶ֖ם בְּרֹאשְׁכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Moreover, what are you to me, O Żor and Żidon, and all the provinces of Peleshet? will you render retribution on my behalf? and if you render retribution on my behalf, swiftly and speedily will I return your retribution upon your own head.

אֲשֶׁר־כַּסְפִּ֥י וּזְהָבִ֖י לְקַחְתֶּ֑ם וּמַֽחֲמַדַּי֙ הַטֹּבִ֔ים הֲבֵאתֶ֖ם לְהֵיכְלֵיכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Because you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly treasures:

וּבְנֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ וּבְנֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם מְכַרְתֶּ֖ם לִבְנֵ֣י הַיְּוָנִ֑ים לְמַ֥עַן הַרְחִיקָ֖ם מֵעַ֥ל גְּבוּלָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
the children also of Yehuda and the children of Yerushalayim have you sold to the children of the Yevanim that you might remove them far from their border.


###### Joel 4:7

הִנְנִ֣י מְעִירָ֔ם מִ֨ן־הַמָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁר־מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם אֹתָ֖ם שָׁ֑מָּה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י גְמֻֽלְכֶ֖ם בְּרֹאשְׁכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behold, I will raise them out of the place to which you have sold them, and will return your retribution upon your own head:


###### Joel 4:8

וּמָכַרְתִּ֞י אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶ֣ם וְאֶת־בְּנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם בְּיַד֙ בְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וּמְכָר֥וּם לִשְׁבָאיִ֖ם אֶל־גּ֣וֹי רָח֑וֹק כִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Yehuda, and they shall sell them to the Shevayim, to a people far off: for the Lord has spoken it.

קִרְאוּ־זֹאת֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם קַדְּשׁ֖וּ מִלְחָמָ֑ה הָעִ֙ירוּ֙ הַגִּבּוֹרִ֔ים יִגְּשׁ֣וּ יַֽעֲל֔וּ כֹּ֖ל אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Proclaim this among the nations; Prepare war, stir up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:


###### Joel 4:10

כֹּ֤תּוּ אִתֵּיכֶם֙ לַחֲרָב֔וֹת וּמַזְמְרֹֽתֵיכֶ֖ם לִרְמָחִ֑ים הַֽחַלָּ֔שׁ יֹאמַ֖ר גִּבּ֥וֹר אָֽנִי׃

beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning-hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

ע֣וּשׁוּ וָבֹ֧אוּ כׇֽל־הַגּוֹיִ֛ם מִסָּבִ֖יב וְנִקְבָּ֑צוּ שָׁ֕מָּה הַֽנְחַ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה גִּבּוֹרֶֽיךָ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Hasten, and come, all you nations, and gather yourselves together round about: cause Thy mighty ones to come down there, O Lord.

יֵע֙וֹרוּ֙ וְיַעֲל֣וּ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֶל־עֵ֖מֶק יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט כִּ֣י שָׁ֗ם אֵשֵׁ֛ב לִשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם מִסָּבִֽיב׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Let the nations be stirred up, and come up to the valley of Yehoshafat: for there will I sit to judge all the nations round about.

שִׁלְח֣וּ מַגָּ֔ל כִּ֥י בָשַׁ֖ל קָצִ֑יר בֹּ֤אֽוּ רְדוּ֙ כִּֽי־מָ֣לְאָה גַּ֔ת הֵשִׁ֙יקוּ֙ הַיְקָבִ֔ים כִּ֥י רַבָּ֖ה רָעָתָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, tread down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

הֲמוֹנִ֣ים הֲמוֹנִ֔ים בְּעֵ֖מֶק הֶחָר֑וּץ כִּ֤י קָרוֹב֙ י֣וֹם יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּעֵ֖מֶק הֶחָרֽוּץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.


###### Joel 4:15

שֶׁ֥מֶשׁ וְיָרֵ֖חַ קָדָ֑רוּ וְכוֹכָבִ֖ים אָסְפ֥וּ נׇגְהָֽם׃

The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

וַיהֹוָ֞ה מִצִּיּ֣וֹן יִשְׁאָ֗ג וּמִירוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ יִתֵּ֣ן קוֹל֔וֹ וְרָעֲשׁ֖וּ שָׁמַ֣יִם וָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיהֹוָה֙ מַחֲסֶ֣ה לְעַמּ֔וֹ וּמָע֖וֹז לִבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the Lord roars out of Żiyyon, and utters his voice from Yerushalayim; and the heavens and the earth shake: but the Lord will be a shelter for his people, and a stronghold for the children of Yisra᾽el.

וִידַעְתֶּ֗ם כִּ֣י אֲנִ֤י יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם שֹׁכֵ֖ן בְּצִיּ֣וֹן הַר־קׇדְשִׁ֑י וְהָיְתָ֤ה יְרוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ קֹ֔דֶשׁ וְזָרִ֥ים לֹא־יַֽעַבְרוּ־בָ֖הּ עֽוֹד׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
So shall you know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Żiyyon, my holy mountain: then shall Yerushalayim be holy, and no strangers shall pass through her any more.


###### Joel 4:18

וְהָיָה֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִטְּפ֧וּ הֶהָרִ֣ים עָסִ֗יס וְהַגְּבָעוֹת֙ תֵּלַ֣כְנָה חָלָ֔ב וְכׇל־אֲפִיקֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה יֵ֣לְכוּ מָ֑יִם וּמַעְיָ֗ן מִבֵּ֤ית יְהֹוָה֙ יֵצֵ֔א וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה אֶת־נַ֥חַל הַשִּׁטִּֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it shall come to pass on that day, that the mountains shall drop down sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the water courses of Yehuda shall flow with water, and a fountain shall issue from the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לִשְׁמָמָ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ה וֶאֱד֕וֹם לְמִדְבַּ֥ר שְׁמָמָ֖ה תִּֽהְיֶ֑ה מֵֽחֲמַס֙ בְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־שָׁפְכ֥וּ דָם־נָקִ֖יא בְּאַרְצָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Miżrayim shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Yehuda, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.


###### Joel 4:20

וִיהוּדָ֖ה לְעוֹלָ֣ם תֵּשֵׁ֑ב וִירוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם לְד֥וֹר וָדֽוֹר׃

But Yehuda shall remain for ever, and Yerushalayim from generation to generation.


###### Joel 4:21

וְנִקֵּ֖יתִי דָּמָ֣ם לֹֽא־נִקֵּ֑יתִי וַיהֹוָ֖ה שֹׁכֵ֥ן בְּצִיּֽוֹן׃

And though I have acquitted them, those who shed their blood I have not acquitted; and the Lord will dwell in Żiyyon.
