**אלו קרע לנו**. ודאי דקריעה בלא העברה לאו כלום היא. דאי לא יעברו מה צורך בקריעה. ולכן פי' המפרשים דמעלת ההעברה זולת הקריעה היא מה שהעבירם בחרבה בלי רפש וטיט. אך מפסוקי תהלים אין נראה כן שהזכיר השתי מעלות הללו לגוזר ים סוף לגזרים והעביר ישראל בתוכו ולא הזכיר בחרבה היא מעלת ההעברה שעיק' מעלת ההעברה היא מה שהיו ישראל בתוך הים והמים להם כחומה וככותלים מזה ומזה לכל שבט ושבט בפ"ע והם עוברים בתוך המחיצות וזהו שלא אמר והעביר ישראל בו. וז"ש ולא העבירנו בתוכו שהיא עיקר המעלה. ונוסף גם הוא שהיתה ההעברה בחרבה בלי רפש וטיט אך אין זה עיקר מעלת ההעברה:

**Had He split the sea but not led us through on dry land:** Certainly having the sea split and not being able to cross over would have been pointless! The point of this statement, then, is that God not only allowed them to cross but He allowed them to cross on dry land without mud. Elsewhere, however, it never makes a point of saying that God allowed them to cross ‘on dry land.’ Rather it emphasizes that they entered into the sea between two walls of water, with a separate corridor for each tribe. The crossing of the sea was the really important point and not the fact that it was on dry ground.
