על החולות הסמוכים לעירנו הולך ומוקם מפעל, שנועד לסילוק השפכים של ערי גוש דן (100 מיליון קוב'). מטרתו העיקרית, למעשה, היא השבת אותם מי השפכים – לאחר החדרתם בקרקע – לשימוש חוזר, שתיה ולהשקאה.

אמנם מתוך מכתבכם לא ברור איך מזדככים המים ונהפכים למי שתיה. בכל אופן במים הללו בודאי שורה רוח רעה מהסבה שהשתמשו בהם לכל מיני צרכים, ואין להם טהרה על ידי זיכוך.

בר מן דין כל דבר שנפשו של אדם נגעלת ממנו ואוכלו או שותהו עובר על לאו "בל תשקצו את נפשותיכם". והיות וידוע לכול מה היו המים הללו לפני הזכוך, בודאי תגעל נפש השותה, ולפיכך השותה יעבור על "בל תשקצו את נפשותיכם". ומי שיאמר שאין נפשו נגעלת בטלה דעתו אצל כל אדם, כמבואר בש"ס ובפוסקים¹⁰⁷.
