משדרי הרדיו ביום צום ט' באב מותאמים כולם לאווירתו הראויה של היום. בשנים קודמות לא נהגנו להשמיע כלי נגינה, אלא רק דיבור או שירה מתאימה בקולות בני אדם.

סייג זה ששמנו על עצמנו מכביד מאד מאד בעריכת המשדרים כיאות ובמילוי פערי זמן בין תכנית לתכנית. שאלתי לכבודו היא: האם ישנו איסור להשמיע ב־ט' באב מנגינת אֵבֶל מתאימה? אני מדגיש בפירוש מנגינת אבל, מנגינה עצובה.

אחרי העיון בדין, לא נראה לי שיש להתיר השמעת מנגינות בתשעה באב, אפילו יהיו מנגינות עצובות, הואיל ויש מקום להניח כי מנגינות אֵבֶל עשויות להנות צבור של שומעים האוהבים להקשיב למנגינות מסוג זה.
