בענין שאלתו אם מותר לנטוע עץ קלמנטינה:

עד כמה שידוע לי כל ההרכבות הנעשות בהדרים הם ממיני ההדר שכולם משפחה אחת, ויש חושבים אותם למין אחד. וכן נראה מדברי הגאון אלפנדארי בספרו שו"ת מהרש"א סי' י"ג. ואף להמחמירים שלא דנים אותם למין אחד ולדעתם נטיעה מחדש דינה כהרכבה חדשה, מ"מ אם העץ היה נטוע בפח או בחבית וכדומה ונטעו עתה באדמה עם עפרו שהיה מתקיים בו, הרי זה מותר גם לדידם. ואפי' אם היה נטוע באדמה, אם יכול לעוקרו עם גוש עפר גדול שיכול להתקיים בו ולנוטעו מחדש במקום אחר עם גוש העפר שבו, הרי זה נמי מותר. ועוד יש שכתבו דאם ההרכבה נקלטה היטב ולא ניכרת, אין לו דין מורכב. ומסיבות טרדותי לא יכולתי לעיין בספרי הפוסקים ומ"ש הוא לפי זכרוני¹⁰⁰. עכ"פ אני שמח שסלימאן הי"ו נתן דעתו על זה ויישר כוחו. ואולם לא צדק שאסר לגמרי כי יש כמה צדדים ואופנים להתיר¹⁰¹. ואסיים בדשה"ט.
