היהדות היא דת שאליה משתייכים כל בני אברהם יצחק ויעקב שלא עברו לדת אחרת. כל מי שאינו יהודי רשאי על פי ההלכה להיכנס ליהדות על ידי טכס של התגיירות. אולם בתנאי אחד, שהוא עושה זאת מתוך הכרה מלאה ושרצונו לקיים מכאן ולהבא את מצוות התורה. מאותו רגע שהנכרי מתגייר נעשה הוא בן העם היהודי¹⁶². מכאן תביני שאין היהדות נחשבת לגזע.
