שורות אלו לשאול חוות דעת גאונו בענין דלקמן. בחור אחד עמד לפנינו להבחן עם כל התלמידים בבחינה לפי הבר־מצוה, מתוך השיחה עם ההורים נודע לנו שהם מכת הקראים. רצוננו, שאילמלא שהיגידו זאת מעצמם לא היינו מרגישים בכלל בזה, היות ונתחזקו בתוך הקהילה כרבנים. התלמיד הזה נימול על ידי מוהל רבני בעתו, ונתחנך בתלמוד תורה שלנו, ועד היום הוריו העלימו ממנו שהוא קראי. לפי דבריהם חפצם היה שיכנס תחת כנפי השכינה, וההורים רוצים שילבש תפילין כמונו. שאלנו את פיהם אם ידוע להם אם אירעו גירושין במשפחתם, תשובתם היתה שלילית.

נוסף לזה אפעפ"י שהתלמיד הזה לא טבל עדיין, ודעת ההורים שמלו אותו ע"י מוהל רבני היתה לפי דבריהם להכנס אותו בקהל הרבנים. האם יש לדון אותו בדין דיעבד, זאת אומרת כמו כבר נתגייר, ועוד שהרי הוא פירש מן הרוב ולא הוי קבוע.

ההורים אינם רוצים להגיד לילד שהוא קראי, ומפחדים למשבר פסיכולוגי.

ומיכוון והדבר הזה נמצא בפרק על שלחן מלכים, מאן מלכי רבנן וגדולי התורה בישראל, הבטחנו להורים להגיש בקשתם לפני הדרת גאונו. והיות והדבר בא באופן פתאומי כמו שרש"י ז"ל מפרש בפרשת השבוע: בקש יעקב לשבת בשלווה קפץ עליו רוגזו של יוסף, ככה המדובר ולא הספקנו להכין את השאלה כמו שצריכים לעשות לפי הנהוג, ועוד הפעם נבקש סליחה גם על זה.

בודאי ידוע לכת"ר שרוב הפוסקים אוסרים את הקראים לבוא בקהל ועיקר איסורם מחשש ממזרות, והטבילה לא מעלה ולא מורידה.
