זה עידן עידנים שאנו מתלבטים כיצד להנעים את התפלות כדי למשוך את הנוער שלנו לבית הכנסת. מדי פעם משתדלים להעביר לפני התיבה חזנים אשר יעוררו תשומת לב. באחרונה הונהג אצלנו וגם בכמה בתי כנסת אחרים, במקום בעל תפלה אחד, עולים לתיבה שנים או אפילו שלשה. כמובן, שעיקר התפלה, כגון, "נשמת" "קדיש" "יוצר" וכו' מתפלל רק חזן אחד ואין האחרים עוזרים לו מדי פעם. וזאת כאמור, כדי לגוון את התפלה. אחדים מזקני העדה אינם רואים בעין יפה שיטת תפלה זו.

מן המיותר להזכיר, כי גם אצל יתר עדות המזרח נוהגים להתפלל במקהלה, כגון, "נשמת" "שועת עניים" וכו'. בעיקר בימים הנוראים. ומעולם לא שמענו כל התנגדות מצד הרבנים.

בדבר שאלתכם שהנהגתם בבה"כ שלכם שבשבת ויו"ט יקראו הנערים הזמירות בשפה ברורה ובנעימה וכדי למשוך את הנוער לבה"כ ולתפלה, ואין מנהג זה מוצא חן בעיני הזקנים, ורצונכם לדעת אם יש מניעה לזה מן הדין.

הנה אם המזמורים מתחלקים בין הנערים שכל אחר קורא מזמור אחד או שנים, ולא כולם קוראים ביחד הרי זה טוב ויפה. ועיין בספר בן איש חי שנה א' פרשת ויגש אות ג' שכתב וז"ל: בשבת ויו"ט מנהג כמה מקומות שיעמדו ילדים על התיבה והם יאמרו הזמירות מתחלת הודו עד סוף השירה¹⁸⁷, מכל מקום צריכים להזהר שהשם מלך וברוך שאמר יאמר השליח צבור וכו', ע"ש. והיינו אם הילדים אינם בני מצוה אבל אם הם בני מצוה יכולים לומר גם השם מלך וברוך שאמר, אם נהגתם כן אין כל חשש בזה מן הדין.

¹⁸⁷ והוסיף הרב בן איש חי שם, וכן המנהג בעירנו בגדאד. וכן שמעתי שנוהגים עולי בבל גם בארץ, שכל ילד הראוי אומר מזמור אחד או שנים לבדו בקול רם, אבל לא כמה ילדים יחדיו. אכן מנהג תימן שכל הציבור יחדיו אומרים כל הזמירות בקול רם כאיש אחד ובנעימה.
