קבלתי את מכתבו במועדו ומחמת טרדותי המרובות לא יכולתי לענות לו עם קבלתו וָאֵחַר עד עָתָּה וגם הנני נאלץ לכתוב בקיצור.

מה שהעיר על מ"ש במכתב בס' בני ישראל מדברי רבינו ירוחם ז"ל, יפה העיר. אחרי ששלחתי מכתבי הנ"ל להגרי"א הרצוג ז"ל נזדמן לי לראות מ"ש הגאון חקרי לב באה"ע סי' יז ולא הסתייע בידי לשוב לעיין בזה, ולפני זמן מה נדפס אוצר הפוסקים ח"ט ושם בסי' כ"ב האריכו בזה והביאו דברי רבינו ירוחם⁹.
