קבלתי את מכתבו מיום כ"ה בחדש תשרי ש.ז., שבו שאלני על מעשה אשר לא יעשה, על בר־נש אחד... שהוא בן נכרית שנתגייר וחזר לסורו של אביו והתחתן גם הוא עם גויה וילדה לו בן. ועתה שואל ומבקש מאת ועד קהילתכם למולו ולגיירו. וכב' מבקש לשמוע חוות דעתי בנדון, וכבקשתו, הנני ממהר להשיבו.

אמו אשר ילדתו אמנם זכאית היא להביאו לגיירו, אולם היות והיא לא מתגיירת, בודאי תפטם אותו בנבלות וטרפות ותחנכו לפי רוחה, ולכן אין לגיירו. אלא אם כן גם אמו תתגייר ותקבל עליה לשמור כל מה שהאשה היהודית חייבת לשמור ולעשות.
