פה בחיפה יש בתי כנסיות של הספרדים שמסדרים בהם חופות, וכדי בזיון וקצף למקדש מעט בארץ שכלם קדש קדשים הן מצד הקרקע והקירות והתקרה שכלם מאבני המקום ועפר הארץ, וקדושת ביהכ"נ של רבים שקדושתו חמורה, והחופות כלם נעשות בחוצפה גסה, זרועות נשים מגולות עם החזה והרגלים עד הארכובה. וחבוקין ונשוקין, ונבול פה וכו', ולא הועילו לא תוכחות ולא משגיחין, ובכך עלה בדעתינו לאסור את הדבר כמו אחינו האשכנזים, עד שהרבה בני אדם אומרים, מדוע אנחנו מזלזלים בתי הכנסיות שלנו, האין בהם קדושה כשל האשכנזים? ובכל אופן יש חלול ה' גדול. ובכל אנחנו מחלים פני קדשו להודיענו דרך זו נלך יפשא"ק [יפה שעה אחת קודם] להסיר המכשול, ושלום.
