מועצת הרבנות הראשית החליטה שמכאן ולהבא אין להסתפק בקריאת הכתובה בפני החתן והכלה תחת החופה – כפי שהיה נהוג עד כה – אלא על מסדרי החו"ק להקריא את הכתובה ולהסביר את תכנה בפני החתן בטרם הוא חותם עליה כדי שיבין את מהותה, ואת אחריותו והתחייבויותיו כלפי זוגתו.

נכון שהתרתי עריכת קידושין ביום ה' באייר, הוא יום העצמאות, והיתר זה אינו מוגבל לתושבי הארץ בלבד (ראה מאמרי בקובץ "עלי עשור" שהופיע לפני כשנה ומחצה בהוצאת "מוסד הרב קוק", ירושלים).
