אני מרשה לעצמי, קודם כל, להציג את עצמי: שמי דוד אלקלעי, תושב ירושלים מיום עלייתי ארצה ב־ 1950. לפני מלחמת העולם השניה כיהנתי כראש הקהילה הספרדית בבלגרד ואחרי המלחמה הייתי ראש הקהילה המאוחדת באותה העיר משנת 1945־1950.

קרו כמה מקרים בבלגרד שגופות הנפטרים נשרפו בקרמטוריום. ביוגוסלביה, לצערנו, אין רב. את התפילות בערב שבת ובשבתות, וכמו כן בחגים, מקיימים חברי הקהילה היודעים לקרא היטב. אותו הדבר גם במקרי הלוויות.

מי שציווה לשרוף את גופו וכן עשו ושרפו אותו, האפר אינו צריך קבורה ואם ירצו לקוברו יכולים לקוברו בכל מקום שירצו, אבל צריך להיות רחוק מבית הקברות.

התפילות הנהוגות בלוויה הרגילה, אם ייערכו לא יועילו להמצווה על שריפתו ודינו כדין כופר בתחיית המתים, והוא הדין הקדיש לא יועיל אם ייאמר עליו.

אין חיוב בהקמת מצבה על אפר שריפתו. ואם בכל זאת רוצים להקים כעין מצבה על אפרו, רשאים¹¹⁷.
