נשאלתי היום בענין גילוח הזקן שאסור בתער וכן בארזו"אר שהוא כעין תער ויחידי בלי זוגי. ורק יש היתר ע"י מכונה הזוגית שמגלח ביד.

הנה יש מין מכונה אחרת שמגלחים בה ע"י חשמל, וראיתי ולא ירדתי לסוף דעתה, אם היא זוגית או כעין תער? ויש אומרים שהגילוח שלה הוא ע"י שריפת השערות ע"י החשמל ולא חותכת.

בתשובה לשאלתו בענין מכונת הגילוח החשמלית הזוגית, הורני כב' הראשון לציון הרב הראשי לישראל להודיעו, שהמכונות החשמליות שאין בהן סכין אלא זוגית כמין מספריים, נהגו רבים להקל בזה¹⁰.
